Almost feels like watching the new version of One Thousand and One Nights. One of my most favorite books when I was a child. I gotta go visit one of these day to see Muscat with my own eyes.
Lived in and loved Muscat for 10+ years. Great place to live, so peaceful and very friendly people. So many friends. Miss Muscat very much.

I have been once to Muscat, what makes city Mega city is not buildings or infrastructure, its PEOPLE....Noor on faces of those people is more than anywhere else where I have traveled. I can simply say I got in love with people of Oman...humble, down to the eath, pure hearts, no agressive whatsoever, relaxed, hospitable....I hope today's modernezation and outside world influence wont spoil those buitiful hearts.

We spent a week in Oman last December. Wonderful country. Wonderful people. We really enjoyed our visit. Would go again.

I've lived in the region for nearly 15 years. The couple of years I spent in Oman were the best by a big margin. Omanis are really nice people who welcome you everywhere. I'd go back there anytime.
My brother, I'm grateful for you having spent 15 years in that region, and I'm a bit envious! I'm learning Arabic just so I can spend many years living there. But I have a question for you, is it easy to travel from country to country in the Arabian peninsular? For example, can I get from Muscat, Oman to Doha, Qatar relatively easily? By car or by airplane? Let me know your thoughts!
@@thearchitect27 It used to be reasonably easy until Saudi, Bahrain and UAE decided to blockade Qatar. Now there is no land access to Qatar. However you can fly to Doha from Kuwait and Muscat, takes around an hour. If you are going from UAE or Saudi then you will need to transit Oman or Kuwait. There is also some messing around with ticketing but most things are possible.Flying between countries is usually the best choice anyway, as they are reasonably priced. You can drive through Saudi Arabia but it is a hassle getting permits and border controls can take a very long time on occasion.

I've been to the middle east before. But I've not been to a place as idyllic as Muscat. So now, it's a part of my bucket list for travel.

I went there in August!! But up in the highest mountain it was only 23c... It is a very beautiful and contrasting country ❤

this is a very good introduction to Oman. I was there a year ago, so glad to find this video to re-visit this magnificent country, people, and customs.
What I was amazed by is the soft and pure Arabic spoken by the people of Oman. It sounded so sweet. May Allah bless them all.
Fantastic documentary! I visited Oman 20 years ago and at the time I had to be interviewed at the Oman embassy to get a visa, for there was no tourism. The employee was surprised I wanted to visit their country, there were virtually no other tourists except the odd expat families on a weekend break from Saudi Arabia... It was a magical discovery as expected, and it's one of my all-time favorite countries. Courteous and friendly people, delicious food, reasonably modern and traditional values, great overall atmosphere, fascinating refined culture and gorgeous landscapes! Although that's a while ago now, I could recognize the well-kept secret it really is through this video.
I left Muscat after being born and brought up for 25 years. I'm going to really miss this place. Love Oman
My uncle works for PDO, Oman's state oil company. I've visited him thrice in the city of Muscat. Although his contract ends soon, I simply wish to keep on travelling to this majestic and serene land. The impression it has had on me is of love and purity!

My impression is that Oman is great place and great people indeed. I myself am african and only met Omani two years back, previously I did not know them. Great people very generous and great culture. I have lot of respect for them.

Everyone I saw in Muscat was immaculate all the time!
The men usually go through at least couple of them every day. They will have a spare one in the office or in the car. The area is also peppered with laundry services where dishdashas are being washed and ironed. Good business in Oman ;)
Different colored dishdashas are also very common. The white is the official color and expected to be worn in the offices and important celebrations.
Omanis love their perfume too. The entire country just smells of frankincense and perfume. It’s very special.
I lived there for 18 years. Their is no smoke pollution is not there. So even dust doesn't make your clothes dirty. It's very clean country. Always

I spent 5 yrs in Muscat, a nice city, way back in 2001, neither it was too developed or under developed but basic luxury of life were available. had a great time there.

Every time I see such wonderful earthen buildings I get goosebumps. If I had water and solar-powered electricity, I would die a very happy woman to be allowed to live in one of those abandoned homes. - And check out those doors, lintels and decoration! Oh man! lol
@37:57 I don't know how long ago this docu was filmed, but we no longer hold to the original (obviously impossible to me, anyway) theory that dead organisms created oil. Life such as crustaceans and molluscs expire and undergo decay, dry up and blow away 'dust to dust' for a kind of illustration. They don't all slide together in oil formations around the globe, turn into slime almost instantly - while layers of compressed earth settle on top of them over millions of years.
Certainly the instructors who taught these two knew this.

iayyam It’s literally a desert. The only kind of trees that grow there are palm trees, which already line the streets. The sultan arranged to plant 3 million trees a few years ago.

This is a good documentary ... But some things being said here aren't very accurate.
The part about women driving in the arabian gulf .. literally one country HAD a problem with it .. but as for the rest of the gulf it's very common.
And as for the female boss thing ... haha ... Actually women having their own business in Oman is very common. They're not necessarily big businesses .. but these days it seems to be the focus of most women in Muscat.
Prophets Muhammad PBUH his wife Khadijah RA was also his boss. she was a very successful business women who took a liking to Prophet Muhammad PBUH because of his Good Manners and trustworthiness

Fellow Omani here. Muscat is hardly a megacity. it's actually a weird city as it has zero skyscrapers. Nevertheless, a beautiful city.
These people are beautiful, mixture of African and Arabic.
They used to sail down to the east coast of Africa and kidnap Africans and enslave them. Up until the recent past Oman controlled Zanzibar until it became part of Tanzania. Hense the mixture.

I lived in Oman for three years as a kid.. loved it !!! Best beaches ever.. very wild very hospitable ... but the summer was quite literally an open furnace we would have to go back to Jordan and my poor dad would stay for his work alone hahaha

Hi movie - I want to know, when you want to photograph a person, do ask their permission?
I am in the US. When I travel abroad, such as Cambodia, it just angered the pi$$ out of me to see rude tourists snapping pics of people, as if they were animals in a zoo. I wanted so badly to come from behind them and shove their lens into their face - I mean, say something constructive in a polite way, but hubby wouldn't let me.
If someone from, say, Russia or The Netherlands walked up and focused a camera on my face I'd be upset, naturally.

Research0digo People there are extremely polite and hospitable. Still though, they’ll be very weirded out if you shove a camera in their faces. People in villages are used to cameras because they know they’re living an alternative lifestyle and they expect tourists.
