Hi Alan, Thanks for the vid. I have a 79 350 also in a GMC Sierra. It's always idled rough and exhaust smells like poor combustion, It runs good for about 5 seconds on a cold start then will start coughing and slow down and stop. Any ideas? I've Rebuilt carb, new HEI, removed cat and EGR, checked timing, and replaced vac lines.
Hey there, I would recommend checking out the spark plugs, HEI, or the timing as it sounds like the engine is not burning the fuel as well. Are you using a mechanical fuel pump? Also is the carb a quadrajet? I think I had that issue too until I did a tune up changing out the sparks and other essentials. I hope you are able to get it running!
Thank you homie I really needed this
Thank you so much for this very informative video! I really appreciate it!

Ensure that your Distributor is hooked to vacuum on the carburetor and not connected to the canister lines/pcv.
