Damn, I don't know if it's because is kind of little but this could be the worst crowd I've ever seen, the circle pit at Blood Brothers was awful and those guys "dancing"...

Saw this show in Boston Mass a week ago. So many amazing bands on this tour. Never saw oceans before . This fucking band is a wrecking ball . So great live . New singer kicks ass !

MoshPit TV No, what I'm saying is that there are people that go to shows nowadays and target specific people and deliberately try to hurt others. Then when they get called out on it they act all tough and fights break out and it discourages people from dancing and trying to have fun, which is what the pit is supposed to be about.

What is wrong with those cleans man? Great performace but the clean vocals need a lot of work..idk why they made them so difficult on the record when Jake's clearly struggling to pull them off live..
i never understand why bands write these vocals so high when they arent able to perform it, I like Jake though hes good, just has to work on his cleans

I actually liked Hansha when I heard it, and wanted to check out how it was performed live. I didn't realize that Jake can't hit a majority of the notes in a live performance, and thus resorts to falsetto, which makes it sounds rather shitty, The parts he can hit in full voice really don't sound too bad, but unfortunately that's only a smaller fraction of the song.
I think they need to perform it in the beginning. He's already exhausted even before singing Hansha. He apologized for it though..

they should retire hansha after their next tour & hopefully with a new album out. It must be insanely hard on his voice to perform that multiple nights a week. Mars Volta problems = writing crazy shit that's even crazier to perform live lol

My theory on why the crowd is so shit. is 1, they were there for wage war, and 2, jake isn't hype. The other vocalist(I think his name is james) moved way more and was way more hype, and thats why the crowds are more insane.

The vocalist needs to step it up if they ever want to headline a tour. The headlining band can't have a weak front man. Watch Wage War's set from this tour, and see how much stronger the vocalist is than this guy.

Oceans ate alaska is a great band without a doubt i found them when they released the second studio album.....do not get me wrong i think jake is great but seeing these guys live looks boring.... I've see many concert videos and I can tell I'd be going nuts if I was there but. this does not look like I would be hype.... but who knows If i see them live I'd be so hype just to be there so who knows how I'd act XD... but I'm a good screamer and growler... but not like jakes LOWS... THE LOW LOWS. i cannot do that

Screaming and singing at the same time is difficult. It can also make people tired and you can here it in jakes voice. I’ve tried it myself and it’s not that easy. It’s kinda energy consuming and makes you kinda tired.

He really needs to just stop with clean vocals... it's seriously whiny... He has good growl and false chord range - the clean just doesn't seem to fit... that's just me, I miss James.
Then people will whine about how he's not singing those parts. Replacement vocalists just can't win. Get over it lol. I liked James but he couldn't sing either.
Jonathan Lesher James can sing. I've seen them live with James and he sounded amazing. Jake can't sing. I've never seen a live video when Jake can sing.
+Smuggy Puss James wasn't a fantastic singer by any means. He's about as generic as jake but slightly better. I just don't think OAA as a whole should have cleans.
+Jaded I'm sure you're not the only one. Me personally I'm a little biased since I listen to singers like Daniel Tompkins (prog metal singer for the band tesseracT) and I see how good he is so it makes these guys look like noobs. Jake and James aren't the worst but they fit their music I suppose. Jake has some sick low screams though. They have that pop punk quality vocal style which isn't my favorite but they're alright haha.

Terrible rap/growl/singing vocals. Uggh. They sound like a hundred other "brutal" bands that are anything but brutal. They look soft and sound like modern pop rock.
vadermask i agree that Jake is not that good at live performances. He can't sing as high as the vocals that you hear in their records, Hansha for example. But at least he tried.
