    Costco is the best place for tires. The best prices, tires are stored indoors, clean facilities, and they fill the tires with nitrogen. Those Michelin tires are good. The tires I want to try out next are the Michelin Premier A/S.

      @@PanzerPlatform I've had a couple video ideas but I end up scraping them. That is why I have gone so long without making a video. My next video would be a head to head of the two best motor oils. Amsoil Signature Series vs Motul 8100 Eco-lite. Both in 0W-20 and both 100% synthetic. I have tested out pretty much every motor oil out there. Both of these have been the best oil that I have felt to be the best. I will conduct a test between both of them. I never use engine flushes but I will use one prior to adding the new oils so I can get as much of the old oil out as possible. I will use a Purolator Boss oil filters. The goal is to be fair and unbias and see if one is better than the other. Both used sample will be analyzed after 10,000 miles. It's going to be a long time to accumulate those miles but I know that the video will be my best one yet. Hopefully by the end of this year or the beginning of next year I can have the video completed. In the meantime, I'll be lurking through RUclips and just know I'm still here.

      No way, what a coincidence. The performance car I mentioned that came with Michelin's from the factory, were Pilot Sports, and when the rears wore out at 25,000 miles, I replaced them at Costco with BFG G-Force Comps.

    I bought my CV in Florida. Moved to Nashville and the cold weather (in the 20's), caused severe tire cracking down the valleys. You should consider getting new tires after they exceed 5 yrs of age. Mine were at six + years with plenty of tread left. Ride quality sucked so I put on some new Michelin's, No more worries.

    I drive commercial vehicles CDL. Our company only uses mi Michelin or Bridgestone. We put about 400-650 miles in one day on those tires. That lets you know right there how much we trust both of these tires. I have noticed that the Michelin do last longer than the Bridgestone and that the ride is so much smoother. With the Michelin Tires we get about 120,000-140,000 miles on the front tires. The rear tires last us much longer. We have switched from air to nitrogen and stop getting blow outs when we travel through the desert.

    My Crown Vic came with Firestone Firehawk GT Pursuits; they grip very well and are tough as nails, but they do feel a bit beefy. At the PSI stated on the door jamb (32 PSI), the tires feel severely underinflated. I also notice that they almost hug the road a little too well, creating a considerable amount of drag when taken on corners. I'm looking around for what my next set of tires will be, because of this-but, also because these Firestones are a whopping $1,500 a set! There's no way I'm buying a set of these once the current ones are spent.

    • @PanzerPlatform
      @PanzerPlatform  4 года назад

      Since your tires are near the end of their life, try an experiment.
      Get a good quality tire pressure gauge and set the tire pressures cold first thing in the morning before leaving the house (before the sunlight hits the tires).
      Set all four at 44psi, and take a drive around the block to see what it feels like.

    I heard the Defender was a much better set for pennies more. Went to Costco and they misinformed me that the mich defenders were getting discontinued so I ended up with the X Tour. Though the defenders ride way smoother from what Ive heard, the X tour set I just put on feels really good with traction.

      I don't know if that's true, but after looking at the specifications for both tires they have identical specs. So maybe it is true.

      @@PanzerPlatform thanks for responding, Chuck. I have heard that the X tour is the costco exclusive version of the mich defender. So its a slightly lower quality in the past and about 10% cheaper. Now it seems the two are 15$ apart per set of 4 so its a hairline difference in price. Reviews by car people said the x tour is about a 9 vs defender being a 10 with more traction and smoother ride on bumpy roads due to its comfortcontrol features that is not included on the x tour. Would make sense since they cost different and have different names. Costco carries both and the current $150 off per set is too good to pass on.

      I heard the same thing. The defender and the X-tour has the same tread pattern but the defender gets far better reviews. I actually just ordered a set of Michelin defender 2s today from Costco. They tried to get me to buy the x-tour because it was $6 less. But I was like no thanks…I’m not taking a chance on getting worse quality tires over $24.

    I've always been a Michelin tire guy. As far as I'm concerned they are the highest quality tire you can buy for your average street vehicle. They wear the best, provide the smoothest ride, with the least amount of road noise. The last two sets of Michelins I put on my GMC pickup came from Sam's Club. I've heard the rumors about differences in Michelin between big box stores and other retailers but I suspect the only difference is the part number itself. This prevents other tire shops from having to price match big box stores because it's a "different part number".... so therefore in the eyes of tire shops it's a different tire all together. I recently purchased a set of four new tires for my 2008 CVPI but this time I found a black Friday deal at Pep Boys.... buy two Kumho tires, and instalation for all four, and get two tires free. My Crown Vic is not my main source of transportation so I took that deal. If that was my only car, I would have bought Michelin tires instead. My GMC has made MANY trips from here in the upper Midwest down through Arizona and into Southern California.... each trip (there and back, plus driving around in California for several weeks each time) is roughly six thousand miles. ALL of those trips have been made on Michelin Tires with absolutely zero trouble. The last thing I want to deal with is a blown out Chinese tire at 3am in the desert Southwest, 100 miles from nowhere.

      Right on Brian,

I actually looked up your video to see if you could confirm that info. Personally, I can't find a difference between the tires except I think the X tour has a slightly different less attractive design where the tread blocks transition around the edge of the tire into the sidewall, a minor aesthetic difference at most.
