They were despicable bullies, nothing more or less. How they ended up being idolised (and indeed same for the Richardsons) is still beyond me.
I don't think the Teale's make any apology for being merely errand boys for the Krays so they'd hardly get much of a mention in the Kray's book. The court records affirm their involvement and thank God they were prepared to turn Queen's evidence or else the villains would still be running London and the police would still be taking money to not do their job. Don't hold out too much hope of reading the truth in Nipper Read's book.
Well said. The Krays and many others like them were bullying sadists. I don't understand the hero worship.

I've just finished the book (that's how I found this - looking up 'bobby teale' ) and kind of get the impression that you're not reading the whole truth about the Kray's fall, just the Teale's varnished version. Not that I'm that bothered how the loutish twins met their demise, just sorry it wasn't sooner. And so we keep getting these docs with these decrepit old fuckers' - Frankie Fraser, Freddie Foreman, Eddie Richardson et al - reminiscing about how they only fought amongst themselves, and it was all a bit noble, and etc., and you get the feeling, looking at their particularly ugly mugs, that at last they got the faces they deserved, and that they didn't get them by healthy honest toil.

Spot on. The krays were glorified thugs, had no real class. They made their money almost exclusively from protection rackets - eg robbing hard working businesses. As an outfit they lacked sophistication. The rrichardsons, whilst also being vicious thugs, looked down ion the krays operation

I've read anything & everything on the Krays & never come across the Teales. I'll get Nipper Reads book now as that's probably only one I haven't read. The Richardson were just as violent but they didn't have the contacts Ronnie made via his sex parties (MP's, celebs & aristocrats). As far as I read, Ronnie liked 18-20year olds.
Well with all his contacts he was miles behind the Richardsons in the turning a pound note stakes. The Krays were paupers in comparison.

@@annhollowell5352 Both Bobby and,only this year,David Teale have written books about the Krays that do tell the reality of the Krays,including that Ron Kray raped both of them. How people still admire these disgusting creatures when what they really were is now well-known baffles me.
