Same lol my best guess is it releases the pressure in the line. I’m assuming so the excess water doesn’t freeze up the pipes? I’m in the desert though and have these installed on my home when it doesn’t snow 🤣

I've been watching several videos on these vacuum breakers, but none of them explain their purpose. It must be a big secret.
