- Old Town San Diego is often referred to as the "birthplace of California" because it was the site of the first European settlement in what is now the state of California. The neighborhood is home to a collection of restored and reconstructed historic buildings, including adobe homes, shops, and other structures that showcase the architecture and lifestyle of the mid-19th century. There are also many restaurants and shops selling traditional Mexican handicrafts, clothing, and souvenirs. I explore the area for my first time with @Jaycation , who shows me around and even takes me to the local cemetery.

Thank you for allowing me to see Old Town again, AK! I had the pleasure of seeing it in February 2020 for a couple hours, right before the pandemic hit. It was a memorable area, but I was worried whether it would become depleted of businesses post-pandemic. It looks like it is still thriving as I remember it! One note: the Old Town Mini Railroad Museum had to permanently close in November 2022. The setup they used to have inside was awe-inspiring, with all of the intricate deals.
We visited this beautiful place together. I loved it a lot. Thank you for sharing. I am impressed 🥰❤

Wow, the walk through Old Town San Diego is so fascinating! 😍 Fiesta de Reyes and Old Town Market remind me of Olvera Street but more spacious. 20:26, 21:50 It's so crazy to learn about the grave sites below the sidewalk and Jaycation's story of his livestream going berserk at the spot! 😱 23:48 Jaycation said "dead end over this way" while at the cemetery. 😆 It was cool to see the historical El Campo Santo Cemetery. Interesting to learn about the haunted Whaley House, and the Victorian homes at the end look so beautiful and well preserved! Thank you so much for sharing this informative and amazing walk along with Jaycation, AK! 🤗

Cosmopolitan is haunted
Had the pleasure of visiting the Whaley House & historical town a few times on a bus excursion from Torrance, was delighted to discover the oldest synagogue in California right there!🕍 It's quite a little hill to hike up but AK is certainly used to that! 😄 Yes lovely gardens and well-tended cacti and large botanical variety make it interesting for a gardener like me- I have thousands of plants in my little suburban plot (worse than Sifat 😂) and a healthy collection of succulents, tropicals and native plants so easy to grow here in 🌵🪴🌴🏵️🌻🌼 thi's Mediterranean climate☺️
