Lucky enough to have a friend who had one and drove it couple of times. Both happy and sad when he traded it for a new M3. Scary to think how long ago that was yet can remember it like yesterday.
Although I like the previous version more, the looks of this generation starting to age well. Proud to also own a rally icon 🤗Great review Matt, keep them coming 👍
Memories! A workmate who has since died had one of these completely stock, while a friend of mine had a stock JDM Celica notchback called the Curren, which he told me today is still around, although its been out of commission for a while.
A Toyota sillycar! My mate Ian had a mk.3 in 1987. We did 110mph driving down to Stafford-on-Avon for a course. We drove through flooding that came half way up my door. Good waterproofing! 😁👍
Great story! Where abouts near Stratford on Avon did you hit 110mph? Obviously this would have been way before they had speed cameras down the A46, so it could have been there I guess? Past alcester/oversly area, or even down the other section going towards bishopton waste centre (the tip as we used to call it) 😅
The GT-Four is possibly my favourite JDM car because it’s such a rare, alternative option. I’ve always thought the Mk VI Celica is a handsome car, and the GT-Four is just angry enough to stand out without looking obnoxious.
Mate, in a RHD car, the indicator stalk belongs on the right hand side of the steering column. Also, that speedo was kph not mph, with no mph numbers stuck on. Nice car mind ewe. Glad that the wife has made me settle for what I've got outside!
Jay's FAFF as many celica owners call them as the AWD is a pain if not looked after and my convertible revering is a pain and when the roof is up the mine is even smaller, and when they was all brand new the GT4 and Convertible was the same price to buy and we all pend more money than we buy them for
love the gt4 it would be interesting to see what you would think of the earlier st185 gt4 or the carlos sainz version, i have a1989 st185 gt4 jdm, had it on the road for 12 years daily driver it never missed a beat so reliable.
@furiousdriving I like loud cars that was certainly loud, he's had a few hot hatches since Corsa VXR Nurburgring, Abarth 695 something, Mini Cooper JCW, a couple of Focus ST's and I believe went back to Vauxhall for a Astra Nurburgring...
I'm a big fan of Matt and Furious Driving. But I have to admit that I simply clicked the thumbnail knowing that it's Jay Emm's car. So I was initially confused when I heard Matt's voice. Paying attention skills for the win 🤦
Great car! I used to not be a fan because I was of course a Lancia fan back in the day. But this is very attractive. Love that Carrozzeria headunit, have seen it on Instagram several times. Japan only, unfortunately
Apart from been a Toyota and a very fast Toyota the right hand indicator stork is common in Australia because most cars in Australia are Japanese there are more Japanese cars especially Toyota's on the roads than European British American amd South Korean cars and they all have right indicator stalks
lo Matt, once again you have excelled yerself again. If ye can't boot the ass out of this, time to hand back your license. This was a child of it's time and so wiz ah.!! yeeha! Ah want dae it again but my hand to eye cordination cannae cope.. Sad but there ye go. Thanks for the wee trip doon memory lane. ps i take it 30MPH didnae happen.🤣
They didnt make much power really. My Saab 9000 Aero of the same year made 225 BHP factory and today makes 317 BHP with just a simple remap and nothing else. I have offered for you to review it in the past.
And with escort cossies going for 250 k they pay big money for a car that failed at its goal of the wrc championship. Only fordies spend big. on a loser.
One of my all time favourites, such a brilliant looking car.
Always wanted one of these - still do!
I want one more now!
How I miss my GT4, I was lucky enough to own a 1996 JDM GT4 in dark green pearl, watching this brought back memories.
Lucky enough to have a friend who had one and drove it couple of times. Both happy and sad when he traded it for a new M3.
Scary to think how long ago that was yet can remember it like yesterday.
Oh yes !
That is iconic, love the video.
Peak turbo sound. Great video
That has to be the cleanest example I've seen. Kudos to the owner
That's a furious little car.
Another great car and review Matt so I wish you and your famly a very Happy New Year best regards Andy & Sue Allen.
Happy new year! And thanks
Although I like the previous version more, the looks of this generation starting to age well. Proud to also own a rally icon 🤗Great review Matt, keep them coming 👍
Its funny they dont look so shocking anymore, and are aging well - and yes, you're rather lucky!
I drove a JDM GT4 many years ago and was thoroughly impressed. Today, I own an ST 200 1.8 which is a whole heap of fun for a 10th of the price.
Memories! A workmate who has since died had one of these completely stock, while a friend of mine had a stock JDM Celica notchback called the Curren, which he told me today is still around, although its been out of commission for a while.
Love the casual 550 in the layby. Love the review. Even though I've seen lots of this car I feel like I'm getting a new perspective on it.
Can’t imagine whose the 550 is…
To think these are 30 years old now. Geez, the time goes by quicker than the car.
I have one, 94 import, was standard but having to replace turbo , upping the HP to 350 plus. Great car.
Awesome looking Car. Im looking forward to seeing more Cars next year.
Well. The looks get better and better. What a design.
Love the bonnet on these
they are awesomely over the top

@jonnygti Somewhere on the motorway north of it. Not familiar with the area being from the north. We were trying to make up time (after the flooding).
Nice car
Another great video has always matt and family 👍
Thanks and happy christmas!

8:29 Is the JayEm's 550 sat there???
It's Jay's GT-Four

Apperently it really easy to put the mechanics from one of these into a BMC mini ;-)
It only takes about 400 years
How does this GT4 compare to the previous generation GT4 with the pop-up headlights? I always loved the shape of the 1990 Celica
Jay's FAFF as many celica owners call them as the AWD is a pain if not looked after and my convertible revering is a pain and when the roof is up the mine is even smaller, and when they was all brand new the GT4 and Convertible was the same price to buy and we all pend more money than we buy them for
That is a lovely car.
I am a little jealous, although not of the repair bills James has footed!
Just FYI we did not get the ST205 GT4 in the US. We did get the st165 and 185 in low numbers.
Great video 👍👍👍👍
Sega Rally

I work for Toyota at the time of this car and l drove one back from Redhill Toyota back to the B&M motors
Knowing a few ex main dealer people, I wont ask how fast it went!!
Still mint looking cars
Proper special vehicle in great condition- im full of “want!”
You missed so many things on this car. Do a revisit! 😊
My brother in law had a JDM version, you could hear it for miles.....😂😂 It was quite modified.
An excellent Review as always Matt.
yeah, these arnt shy at the best of times! And if its too loud, youre too old!
Wife is now on her third GTFOUR. I hate the damn thing and I don’t like being out in it. Someone might see.
Great fun no doubt.,.....🤔😲

Paying attention skills for the win 🤦
If it lures a few more in I’m not complaining!
What's next from Jay Emm's fleet? Will we see him reviewing Hippo🤔😂
always liked the later supra had more power
Has James been filming the drive by shots? 😂
he had nothing better to do!
Great car! I used to not be a fan because I was of course a Lancia fan back in the day. But this is very attractive. Love that Carrozzeria headunit, have seen it on Instagram several times. Japan only, unfortunately
That head unit is so of its time, but I love it! That translucent early 00s style has to become retro-cool again now!
Nice car, but the Binky version is more my cup of tea....
Apart from been a Toyota and a very fast Toyota the right hand indicator stork is common in Australia because most cars in Australia are Japanese there are more Japanese cars especially Toyota's on the roads than European British American amd South Korean cars and they all have right indicator stalks
I take it you edited some expletives out when that stupid van driver nearly took you out 😂😂
I would be inclined to agree
You noticed the jump cut to the next bit?

You're not a car guy if you're not subbed to jayemm

more than 25hp more, and 100kg lighter is quite abit difference timeperiod considered. And the two cars are not comparable at all.
Most annoying camera angle you went for there😐
And with escort cossies going for 250 k they pay big money for a car that failed at its goal of the wrc championship. Only fordies spend big. on a loser.
Sell everything get a Toyota seriously
Cheers to @jayemmoncars
