Thanks for the video. Very informative and helpful. I am planning to set up a 50m*100m to start off. Thanks for sharing how long it took you to complete. I do not have a lot of people to help but we will make it work, slowly but surely.
Great video! I really appreciate the Voice-over narration instead of "LiVe" voice as video is being recorded, the post Production narration is much easier to hear & understand! We are going to build one similar to yours next year, at our Orange Grove. I love seeing your team laughing! I hope my crew does as good a job as yours!🌳
Ok I see... But how do u take care of powdery mildew during this rain period. I farm Bell pepper using shade net but during rain things use to be messy. Like uncontrolable fungicide. Plz how do I save my pepper plants during this season. Thanks so much
Thanks for a great informative video. I have several raised beds in my backyard and I put shade cloths on each one of them. I think it would be better to have a structure similar to yours covering ALL the raised beds. I have a couple of Qs: Q1: How high are the poles after they are rooted in the ground with concrete (i.e. how high is the net from the ground? Q2: Did you put wires crisscrossing on top of the shade cloth also or only under the shade cloth? I ask because here we sometimes get very strong winds and I am afraid the shade cloth may blow off the structure. Thanks!
Good job ! Thanks a lot for such a wonderful learning video. I am watching from Bangladesh . Mr Panuka, could you please advise me which net will be perfect for me to cultivate tomato or Bell peppers here in Bangladesh. 30% , 40% , 45% or 50% shade net ? Temperatures may be little less hot than Zambia but more humid. Thanks again. Good luck.
Hi. Great to hear from you from Bangladesh. On the net, quite certainly that would depend on the weather patterns. We use the 40% in temperatures of around 25 to 30 degrees Celsius. Something in that range can do the job I gues.
Great work Mr. Panuka and team, thank you for sharing the knowledge. Just a short question, how is your net secured to the roofing wires? At the edges, I saw as if you have stitched it to the wire but inside the shade…. a little help there.
Great. What name the think you putted on the pole to protect the shade and help wire tie the wire? And as you said the best thickness for the pole 2mm and above what about the pole diameter? Thanks.
We just put any padded material . For the diameter, nothing prescriptive provided it looks solid enough. Pole thickness is more important to avoid bending. My new book on farming as a business may be of interest to you as well www.kobo.com/ww/en/ebook/farming-as-a-business
Wow. I'm amazed. Have a 1700M2 land to put a shade net on. I have walls on 3 side(lucky me will use them as anchorage point) so thinking about using bamboo poles. Your project is an eye opening for me as I can finally see how much work must be done prior. Thanks a lot for sharing the details. Sorry but I think I missed out on the distance between each poles(vertically and horizontally) and also how much metal wire do you need (also their thickness if possible). Last but not least how many mist sprinklers will you need if you were to use in that greenhouse? Cannot wait to read you. Cheers from Cote d'Ivoire.
Thanks for sharing your video. I am trying to help a missionary in Haiti to set-up a shade cloth covering over a large vegetable garden. Our end size is targeted for 150 meters x 150 meters. A couple of questions, what diameter pipes and wire did you use? Are the plastic pieces over the top of the vertical poles just a plastic cap? Any additional suggestions you would change for a Windy area on the Southern Side of Haiti?
Its 5m. But if you use wooden ones which are thicker, you can increase the distance and use fewer poles. Or you can use steel with 2mm and above thickness
Im interesting this shade net house... and i have some questions to ask you... pls can i know, whats the distance between two poles and height of a pole from the ground...?
It's 5m, but checkout a new one we just did on our RUclips Channel. The book I recently authored can also help you on general farming www.kobo.com/ww/en/ebook/farming-as-a-business

You are one great teacher, new sub from Kenya
Wonderful. Happy to see such a detailed video here in zambia. I enjoyed watching the video. Panuka farm.

How will pollination take place??
Wonderful information and insight. Best success sir. I wish to follow your good lead in Pakistan. Thanks kindly

Good luck, just be mindful of air circulation and direction of your ridges. Try East West orientation to increase air flow
You just got a new subie. Thanks for the inspiration. God bless the works of your hands

Wonderful work on a great farm. What is the advantage of using a shade net?
Good job Mr panuka
How much did it cost you to build a 2000m2 green house without the plant.
You really inspired me
what's the percentage of UV shade net are you using? Thanks in anticipation for your response
40%
This is a great job. But I have a question. How do u protect ur pepper during rainy season?
Thanks. Rains still finds its way, which is not so bad except for the weed pressure.

Q1. They are 2m high. 50cm in the ground.
Q2. We also put on top, just a bit to avoid the net from flying away.

Feedback appreciated. Ensure they have a good thickness...above 2mm would do
Thanks for sharing. Are you at liberty to share the budget for the whole structure?
Great work Mr. Panuka and team, thank you for sharing the knowledge. Just a short question, how is your net secured to the roofing wires? At the edges, I saw as if you have stitched it to the wire but inside the shade…. a little help there.
We actually stitch them together around the wire on the edges.

So nice of you
What type of cord did you use to join the shade cloth together? What do you use to repair holes in the shade cloth? Great job!
Hi. We use the same nylon material we use for trelising the plants
@@panukafarm156 Which is what.
Do wild animals attack your shade nets trying to suck water from your drip irrigation?
How do you calculate the size of the shade net you need assuming landsize is 100m*50m?
How do you deal with pests in netshading for your tomatoes and peppers?
QUESTION: First of all, thanks for sharing your knowledge. Secondly, where in Zambia can I buy either the black or white shade net? Thanks.
Try Haygrove Limited, Livestock Sercices or Polythene Products

I think if it's windy you may need to make a more sturdy structure, because I think Haiti might have stronger winds.
Thanks for sharing, great results showing there.

Great video. Thanks for sharing. How far did you space the poles apart?
5m
Were in the same hot climate country I'm in asia. My question is if its just ok to use shade net as roofing instead of plastic roofing
We are in Zambia, Southern Africa
How did you arrive at choosing 45% shade net? Was this determined by the crops you wanted to plant in the net?
Actually cool with a flat roof the rain might get in on a 40% shade cloth
Wow wish I thought of this would build my next one like this
Great. Never too late
How about in philippines is that applicable. Around 36•© to 50•©.
For that typically temperature what is the best hieght of pole and best shade net to use.
can a shade net protect tomatoes from frost
How do you deal with wind and the shade structure?
thanks for sharing this information mr panuka i want to construct one for my vegetables my farm is 20 by 30 what are the materials that i need please
Run through the video, it has all the requirements. Metal poles, wires and net
How far apart are your poles? 15x15? 20x20? Any suggestions regarding this?
They are 5m apart. But could more if you get the ones with a thick diameter
Thank you Panuka. Can shade nets be used to plant chives and basil?
You are welcome. Yes basel can so in a shadenet. We actually have basel in open fields without a shadenet.
Awesome. How did you secure the top nets from not blowing away? It looks like it’s just sitting on top of the wires
We run an extra layer of wire at the top in a cris crossed manner

Thanks for the feedback from Suriname. We drilled 4 holes at the top to allow for the wires to cris cross.
20cm pipe is 8" brother... I'm guessing you intended to mean 20mm Pipe diameter. Great Job though.
