Lelouche had powers, and he used it to complete his mission. L used his own wits to fight against a guy with crazy ass powers, and he beat him 50% in the second episode.

How the fuck do you predict a notebook that kills people with their names, not to mention the countless complications the rules come with it create? And despite all of this, he managed to pinpoint the ass down accurately and well. Oh, and to people saying he has resources, guess what? 1) That's nothing compared to the actual fucking POWERS light and lelouch had, 2) These resources were precisely GAINED by his intellect on his own. He made those connections, made future-oriented decisions, solved hundreds of cases, and got where he was today all by his brains. And 3) These resources weren't even that great at the end of the day! If the police force didn't require his reveal to trust him (which is reasonable in the real world, I suppose) he would never have become vulnerable face-wise.

L was a genius just like Lelouch and Light. He didn't recieve any training from at Wammy's House. Lelouch and Light, while very similiar characters, are very different in a lot of ways. While both of them are genius teenagers, Lelouch far more mature than Light was and handled his Geass better than Light did with the Death Note. Light has the highest intelligence in Death Note but it all comes down to how you use that intelligence, which is why he lost. If Light and Lelouch fought each other in a battle of wit, Lelouch would win easily. L vs Lelouch would be a different story. I believe L's deductive skills are far more superior than Lelouch's, but Lelouch is probably a better tactician.

Lelouch would win hands down, not even the rap battle but in general. L worked on a case to find one person and failed to do so even tho he had a feeling it was kira he was still wrong. Lelouch took over a entire nation and made the world his enemy and the strongest ruler.

This was the first occurrence of this thing happening ever, and L had no idea of what a Shinigami or Death Note was. It was leaps ahead of any other case he worked on because it was basically magic in a non-fantasy world. So being able to do so much with that little knowledge shows how much potential L has, and that he could probably do more than what Lelouch was capable of if they switched roles.
...That's just my viewpoint though.
Well then, let me put it to you this way. 3 times Lelouch had to be saved by C.C. and he could use his Geass to command ANYONE what to do and still died in the end. L, on the other hand, came incredibly far without even knowing what a Death Note or without having the Shinigamis' existence confirmed at the beginning. Also, the Death Note is far more powerful than Lelouch's Geass simply because it can kill anyone at any time without leaving a single trace. Also, remember that even though L had a feeling that Light was Kira all along, he had to be absolutely sure, for if Light would've turned out to really be innocent then L, the almighty L who has solved every case he ever accepted would've been wrong. He couldn't let that happen. Lelouch is smart, sure, but he's nowhere near L's level of actual intelligence if you ask me.

he may have died bit that doesn't mean he didn't solve the case cause if you think about it L had his suspicion that light was Kira and later on was sure that light was Kira the whole reason he was killed was because he had solved the case.
