Camel Up vs Camel Cup? While the cover may be misleading, the back of the box uses the term Camel Up at least 4 times in both the English and German versions of the description. It's even printed in all caps: CAMEL UP
Great review. I always appreciate hearing the guys reconsider their views toward a game, especially one that was as popular to rag on as Camel Up. I've used the game to introduce dozens of people to board gaming and it's been a wonderful ambassador.
In my group we found the spiced up version where you sacrifice a movement card to add a support die very cumbersome. It's slows down the game to a crawl, made it harder to keep track of bets and took away the simplicity that was so charming in the original game. Other than that we found most of the other additions in Supercup worthwhile.
I just looked this up, I think Zee misspoke. Basically you give up one of your own Pyramid Tiles, which basically means you give up 1 coin in exchange for throwing in a support die: At the end of your turn, after you have performed your normal action, you may perform the following additional action if you own at least 1 Pyramid tile: Return 1 of your Pyramid tiles to the Pyramid tile stack on the game board. It does not matter whether you received that Pyramid tile during this turn or an earlier one. Then choose 1 Supporting die from those available on the Pedestal and put it into the Pyramid. However, you may not choose the Supporting die of the currently leading Camel. Important: You are not allowed to perform this action if you took the last Pyramid tile from the stack as your action this turn (i.e., as soon as there are no dice left in the Pyramid, the Leg ends immediately).
Clearly my joke has fallen flat. I was attempting humor because there are people who insist the game is called Camel Cup, not Camel Up. So...nevermind.
+Ranerdar well its really unclear what the name is especially since they named the expansions Supercup. If the game was called Camel Up wouldn't the expansion be called Superup?
That people don't call this Camel Cup is a pet peeve of mine because "Camel Up" is so unintuitive. The Camel's don't go up. It's a race game and "Cup" is used for races. And yet "Camel Up" happens.
+C. Prusse (Kaylore14) 1. "Camel Up" is so much easier to say than "Camel Cup". It just rolls off the tongue. It also sounds better. 2. The camels do go up. When they land on another camel they stack up on top of the existing camels. I'm not saying that you can't prefer Camel Cup, but those are the reasons why I call it "Camel Up". I think Cup/Up a very clever pun on the designer's part, and it produces a small amount of buzz when people discuss it all the time.
+C. Prusse (Kaylore14) The people wo call it "Camel Up" instead of "Camel Cup" include the designer, publisher, every online store that sells it etc...

Great Review. Thank you.
Love the expansion.
That cover is highly regarded
According to Rahdo, he confirmed that it is Camal Up, not Cup, with the publisher.
Seems there is a brand new edition out in English. The base game, I mean.
Well.. the game does "Stack Camels 'UP' " lol.. now if this made those camels spit like in Conan! HAH Then THAT would be an awesome Expansion! :P
Luck is all you need...
Oh, I thought this was a review for the expansion to Camel Cup. My bad. Later.
+Ranerdar ...it is...
No, that says Camel Up. I've never played that game before.
+Ranerdar der :/ its the same game

this doesnt make sense, if it's Camel Up and not Camel Cup, then shouldn't this be called Super Up?
+Maui Chris Which would seem to indicate that it was always Camel Cup, hence Supercup.
It's Camel Cup
No it's not. Z-Man Games site even shows it as Camel Up.

Well, the camels DO go up. That's the main gimmick of the game.
It's like saddle up but camel up

+C. Prusse (Kaylore14) At Essen this year the designer once again confirmed, that his game is called "Camel Up"
