It's by far the clearest and most concise explanation of the mechanics of the new faction I've seen and I particularly appreciate how you recommend this for experienced players looking for a new challenge with the game. I love Imperial Settlers but have so far not played with the Japanese faction or 'Why can't we be friends?' expansion - too many other exciting games vying for my attention! I was reticent to get this expansion although it intrigued me. This video has convinced me that I was right to hold off for the time being, and gives me an incentive to get more familiar with the game before trying this one. I can see that it will add quite a bit to the game and I'm impressed by how much additional content is included. Very glad you got this one to review, same as the Five Tribes expansion, as your enthusiasm for and knowledge of the base game shines through. An all-round excellent job. Thank you!
Maybe "deck construction" should be used instead since "deck-building" more or less is used for games where the deck builds during gameplay and not "pre-construction"?
This expansion is perfect for solo play due to the new ways of using cards but absolutely horrible to use with friends. Atlanteans are so different that none of your casual gamer friends understand how it works so you'll end up picking it yourself. And since you must only build common buildings everyone around you will keep attacking your defenceless buildings. The Atlanteans don't even get a sword to return the favour so you'll just end up taking hits and see every building get destroyed the monent you build them. So frustrating!
The game seems to have been heavily influenced by "Atlantis: the Lost Empire". The Atlantean characters are depicted with white hair, tan skin, and blue tattoos... just like in that movie.
