    Back when the 501st was relatively new (1998-99 era), I was perusing their site looking at member photos, and reading up on the whole group, etc.
    There was a TK member on there with his profile pic of him in his trooper armor... which was a requirement of course.
    Funny part was, it was a full body pic of a promotional trooper used in 1997... in the form of a door decal at taco bell during the re-release of the movies in theaters.

So i did a check through...
      400€ for helmet alone. 500 for torso, 100 per each limb. Than to not mention as well shipping as it would be frail. Oh and if I'd want painted it as well that would be aditiional 50

      Man, Star Wars sure has changed.
      Unfortunately, I am in the 'meteor' camp. If Disney manages to completely destroy the name (their films are horrible) then so be it.
      Star Wars (and several other fandoms) has been infiltrated by new 'I've always been a fan' types. They are demanding, confrontational and completely misunderstand what it means to be a true fan. Pushing people away is a sure fire way to destroy the thing you claim you love.
      Star Wars, to me has been irreperably damaged and I want the same damage to pass to those that damaged it. Those that truly enjoy it, no ill will.
      Those that seek to control it? You ruin everything.

    someone told me the 501st troopers dont like 3d printers. a few years ago I was gonna build a full shock trooper but was told not to cause the 501st likes you to order their pre made armor sets to paint. Maybe things have changed in the last couple years. I figured they would be way open to 3D printing. it only makes cosplay better and opens a new door to more accurate designs... but some cosplayers think if you dont make it out of material completely by hand then its cheating. screw that. Ill hold my Iron Man Mark 50 to ANY 501st pre molded set anytime anyday. That thing took a lot of work.

      @jasonlitsinger96 4 года назад +7

      There is no 501st pre made armor for any costume. You use the resources provided on our different detachment (select costumes grouped together) forums to build the costumes. There are kit makers like this one that make various pieces or full armor sets that need to be assembled, tailored to your body type and painted, decaled ect. In most cases your not going to get a full costume from one maker. Boots, soft goods, weapons etc. are special ordered and measurments are need in order for a custom fit. By the time your done your costume has come together through your own hard work and several others from around the world. There's nothing wrong with wanting our members to look their very best. Over the years the CRLs he speaks of are updated in order to improve the professional straight off the screen appearance you see. The fact that he's the first of this type of clone is really special for him and exciting for the rest of us. He will become what you see in the CRL for this costume. So not only will he be a member, he has also contributed and brought something new to the Legion. Very impressive work! I may have to do one of these myself one day. 😉

      The reason they must be so strict with their costumes' quality standard is because the whole organization is allowed to exist thanks to a deal they took with lucasfilm back in the day that among it's many other restrictions like not being allowed to sell merchandise outside of the 501st stated that characters have to be portraied as accurately as possible.
      lowering their guard before was risky enough but doing so now could mean being sued into oblivion by disney.
