- How to Get the New Instagram Messenger
Instagram messages got a new upgrade. You can now cross-chat between Instagram direct messages and Facebook Messenger.
With this update, you also get a lot of the Messenger features inside of the Instagram app and Instagram direct messages.
This is one of those updates that you actually have to turn on and it won't be automatically added to your Instagram app.
You can find this update in the Instagram settings.

This is how I fixed mine after deleting then redownloading. Press your acc picture on the right then press the three bars (left conner). Next, press settings and scroll down to accounts center, then tap on it. Once the page loads press logging across other accounts and add your Facebook account . Your messaging will then update showing the colours

Once you update to new cross-app Messenger Features, YOU CAN NOT GO BACK; so…..is it really worth it? Now, I do not have a FaceBook acct, so would I still be able to use new features; or does one need a FaceBook account(which won’t ever get, as don’t like FaceBook…it’s a personal thing).

No, you can’t get it without Facebook apparently. That’s what I’m gathering. I deleted my Facebook last year but I would never link the two. I was mad when we had to combine Google with RUclips so I surely wouldn’t do that.

Yesterday I've been trying to figure it out how i can get this update messenger to my Instagram, because my ig doesn't have it, then it say, unfortunately this is not available in my area (Europe) how sad, just need to wait until is available in Europe then probably can do.

Guysss I finally got my update after soo many months, I think if you disconnect your Instagram from Facebook through the activity center and then connect it again, the update should reach you in a week. This worked for me and I think it should work for the rest of you guys too. Thankksssss

Have you tried making a video call and then clicking on the media button second to the right in the lower right corner. And the click upgrade? May take a few hours after that. But I got Messenger doing that 🤷🏼♀️
The problem is I accidentally clicked the turn-off button when the cross-over popped out on my phone screen. Now, I don't know how to change it and can't find the setting for it.
