- I recorded this a few years ago but I felt insecure about my vocals, so I just kinda abandoned it. However, the last couple of nights I was inspired to make something visual so I started riffing with a bunch of stock footage, and I figured it would be a good excuse to revive the song.

What's your interpretation of the video?
Looks like there's two settings (but maybe more), the ocean and the city, that keep getting interspersed. Perhaps they're being equated? There's something to be said for the similarity between the endlessly open, yet cold and unforgiving, ocean, and the bustling and lively city at night which can also be cold and lonely. I like to imagine someone is reflecting on their own memories in an isolated spot watching fireworks far away. The guitarist in the video makes me think the singing character is the main character in question, and that they're singing/playing the song. Could even be that this guitarist/vocalist is performing the song and the rest of the video is largely either their memories or their imagination, night scenes blending together.
The repeated "so cold, in the night" works with the darkness and rain and ocean to give some feeling of isolation even though the lyrics are talking about love, and optimistically at that. The most energetic sections of the song have a lot of activity in the video, and I thought it looked like the jellyfish were being compared to fireworks at one point, just something I saw and thought about. When color begins to fade in at the end I get the sense that that's the coming "new day" that the lyrics mention. Anyway, I couldn't parse a linear story so my thoughts got messy but I found it very neat.
