I attended / staffed my first City Hall tour today. Here's the entire process of walking down into Brooklyn Bridge - City Hall, boarding the train, getting a cab ride, and getting off at the old loop station. You can find info and purchase tickets for tours like this one on the New York Transit Museum's website: www.nytransitmu...
at 6:35 he said if you’re a tourist you can go in the cab THISSS IS SOOO COOOOLLLL!
I want to do that someday
Lies
The turning sound in the MTA subway is like music to my ears.
Yeah! Its sexy actually...
* flange squeal” is the proper term
For real.
City hall station loop is one of my favorite stations ever
RIP: R142A 6 train :c
2000-2018,
18 years of great services.
All of them went on the 7 line but the 7 line should have kept them for another 3 years but instead they took it off the 6
Amir's Railfanning Channel Your right most did go to the (4) train as well.
It is still there in the 6 train but it is very rare
When you dropped the camera :(
RIP
BenTheMiner / MTA Railfanner Wrong. The camera still works.
when?
Everybody getting bored at the tour guide reading a non fiction book to them 😂😂😂
Everybody interested at the train operator standing at the station’s platform ,😂😂😂
RIP TSS Frank Klimaz 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾❤❤❤
Haha Im sure they waited for the R142A since the cab is more "exciting" xD
Lol
You were right
I would’ve waited for the R142A, that’s for sure!
hontestly, the real nostalgia is seeing the R142A (6) train
Sweet, the video is 19:04 long, just like the year this station opened.
POVHFR Videos for me its 19:05... strange.
@@Alrx7_ Yeah, RUclips mistimes the videos sometimes lol
@@Alrx7_ same
I've been to New York once. Really nice city. I miss it actually.
Ser Stormcrow Did u moved?
Ser Stormcrow I have been to New york my entire life I went to DR but it was not even for a year I miss Dominican Republic 🇩🇴:(
Wow, a clear RFW of an NTT.
6:57 love that horn
That R142 is having fun honking around
the people in the in-service trains (the trains that where passing city hall) did not know what was going on. haha:)
i heard the song, and i said to myself, wait when was this?
I stood on that same platform on October 27, 2004.
I was waiting for this video.
Wonder which is louder. This loop or the old South Ferry lol
xProxable Its hard to tell which one is. I can tell that it could be both loops.
Definitely South ferry lol
Main Line Productions I think it is.
Ariel Gonzalez seems like city hall and south ferry loop are twins now
@@Patchy682bestbus that's were I'm telling you. It could be both.
Train: IMA FIRIN MA LASA!
Despacito at 00:00 XD XD XD
the good ol days with the R142A
Despacito at the beginning 😂😂 nice video though 👌
Wow the old city hall subway station
You see many people fanning themselves.....just imagine what the workers have to go through for all of the hours they work
2:08 She's cute and all, but why did she step closer to the train and get in the shot like she's at a photo shoot? I _know_ she saw the camera since she looked right at it. What, she think's she's made of glass or something? Get back behind the yellow line so we can get a proper shot would ya?
Sorry, I just had to point that out. I'm not really into subway trains, but this was an interesting video.
lol not everyone knows proper photo etiquette. You can't blame them.
She looks weird.
It looks to me that the cars in use at the time this station was built had end platforms so the gap would not have been bad. The BU Gate cars could be used at this station.
The original IRT cars had enclosed end platforms (NOT open end platforms) with doors only at either end. The cars were shorter than today's cars so the train fit into the station's curve.
They knocked down your camera
I like R142A 4 train when it was
Departing
8:04 iPhoneSE lol
TheR32TransitGamer looks like a 5c
Tyrese 23 they have curves but the SE doesn’t
@@transportfromolly it’s the opposite way actually
Wow so freakin awsome man
“This is so interesting” 💀
Do they always open the cab on a tour?
How did you become a staff member?
r u dumb its a frickin tour
Nice profile of the 7 IRT R62 train and I think u buy tickets.
@@agentpiggles6685 read description
They need to use r142a more on the 6
Daily Railfan Why? Those R62As are doing fine on the 6 line.
plus (7) needs CTBC So all of it is converted to R188 sets
With a gap like that I can't see how they ever operated out of that station. (And I thought 14th St Gap was bad!)
Only the end doors were opened on the Lo-V cars when they serviced this station. The middle doors would stay closed.
I can not wait for the July 30th 2017 event by 11:00 AM :)
Fan Railer do u know when the mta will retire R62/62a
thanks for the date
Deez Nutz The R62/R62AS will retire in 2020 I think.
The old South Ferry 1 train station is louder if you ask me!!! LOL
will there be a chance for the Low-V to stop there again?
Yea when?
I miss the subway and the lirr
Im actually surprised there is no graffiti in this station, even though its abandoned
No graffiti = still open
With graffiti = abandoned we cant go in
+ the lights are still on
its not still open bro its been closed since 1944 they just still maintain it because they give tours of it and because urbexers dont usually tag in historic sights like this.@@idk10635
Wel, trains go thru the station every few 30-40 minutes so that itself acts like security
Awesome video!
R62A 2346 had no led. Did anybody notice that
The cars from 241 do not have the LEDs
@@FanRailer I got confused for a split second when I read "241"
Do they still do tours or do they let you stay on to go around
They still do tours mate
Wait if they give tours at city hall why not the old south ferry station (unfortunately not the elevated station)
The 5 should be using the South Ferry Loop during off-hours in my opinion now that the 1 no longer goes there.
Is Dj Hammers in this video? I have this feeling he’s in this video
He's actually not. Unfortunately he wasn't feeling well, and had to skip this tour.
How did you get back
By walking through a train door and riding it to the station
Your taking us in a secret subway, LMAO.
It was really to the city hall abonded station.
Not really secret since trains go by every day. Just they're usually empty an turning around. No?
0:00 DESPACITO
Lol despacito at beginning
What are the things around their necks
radios so they can hear the tour guide
ok thank you BTW can you do steam train stuff i love steam engines
I'll see what I can do.
Ok thank you 1 last thing do you do shout outs
Why is the cityhall station abandoned?
Because of the turn, it doesn’t allow for passengers to get on and off the trains safely since there’s a large gap.
ExcitementWorld If that is the case, why was the station built? We’re the trains back to in the day able to get closer to the platform?
And it also doesn’t accommodate 10 car trains.
@@fnihp30 The original IRT subway cars were shorter then today's cars. They had doors ONLY at the platform ends and I believe there were gap fillers on the platform to close the space. The station was designed to be the "flagship station" of the Interborough Rapid Transit Company. It's design, the tile work, the series of arches with no pillars is like none other in the system at that time. It is still a magnificent piece of architecture.
The driver left the next stop to city hall station museum 😂😂😂😂
0:00 Despacito in the background
Rest in Peace Frank Klimaz
Did someone notice that someone’s in there in 16:46? Maybe he works their but I’m not sure
You went to city hall built in 1904
That's when the first subway started
Reva Schuller NYC subway was implemented way past 1904. NYC subway is very old.
do they often trips with old trains on ridding
faudrait m'expliquer pourquoi cette statuin de métro abondonnée a t'il si important a visiter ?
the subway train traveling from city hall to grand central
What train is on the left side 0:36
Why didn't you take that R62A that pulled into the station first ?
Because we had to wait for a TSS, and he wasn't ready just yet.
GRANDGREENSABRE There are only 30 sets of the R142A trains running on the 6 line and during P.M. rush hours there about 40 sets running. There at least over 300 R62A trains running on the 6 line right now.
You mean *3* sets of 142As.
Fan Railer What is a TSS?
Train Service Supervisor.
Does anybody wonder how it’s not collapsing if it’s really old?
Things were well built back then.
Uh how you doing in cab
You actually drop camera
Why do I hear despacito in the background music
I never knew you were a staff member.
I doubt he is but this tour is also for visitors
Richie Garcia It said he staffed the event in the description.
Oh man fun
Were you wearing a vest?
Themaster75 The conductor is.
That cab no longer looks like that.
Wait if I buy a ticket they will let me in the cab every time???
Depends on what kind of metrocard you get and it depends on how many rides you put on the card
@@revaschuller1859 no it doesn't
What did the close???
City hall
How did they deal with the gaps when this station was still in use?
By only opening the end doors and not the middle ones.
@@FanRailer thats a smart idea
@@FanRailer The original IRT cars had ONLY end doors. The middle doors came on later orders of cars, AND the IRT retrofitted some of the original cars to add middle doors.
Bro R142A 6 TRAIN!!!!
The 6 is now a freaking R62
Its R62a Bombardier
is just pass only r142 train to central terminal and grand central
