oh yay, thank you!! :) I was honestly really impressed with how I got Cassiopeia to look SO velvet. I do think a lot of it is still determined by the magnetic pigment itself, since I did the same techniques for all brands in my comparisons portion but generally the Cirque shades looked more velvety!
I am absolutely a jelly girl and love jellies, but when I do want a more opaque effect on the Cirque magnetics I usually don't magnetize the first 1 or 2 coats, and then I do one last coat that I do magnetize. It does make it so that the pigment on the lower layers are a little bit more "stuck" into place, but still gives that dimensional sparkle. Also, you are so good at showing off the velvet effect! It's so hard to see captured well in videos and photos, but you nail (haha) it!
oh thats so good to know that that works!! someone else had just commented wondering that same thing lol I know some people will magnetize only the top layer for a time saving method, but its great to know its also helpful to make the jelly bases a bit more opaque. I’ll have to try that soon :) & thank you!! I really impressed myself with these, esp Cassiopeia lol I love velvet nails so much!!
@@PolishedYogi It's definitely worth a try! I think I will have to give in and purchase some myself! It's always hard with these funky colors Cirque comes out with, the combinations are so unique, and it's hard to know if I'll wear them even if I love them when I see them 😅
I personally love the style of these magnetic polishes. I feel like the translucent, jelly formula makes the magnetic shimmer really stand out. I love the simplicity of them. Thank you for all of the comparisons - they're super helpful.
i can totally see that! they’re definitely a breath of fresh air compared to other ‘busier’ magnetics haha. but no problem! so glad you found them helpful :)
I feel like these can double as toppers from how sheer the first coats are. Maybe using them over a complimentary color would be cool? 🤔 I don’t think I’m a fan of magnetics that are more of a jelly/magnetic hybrid. I do enjoy magnetics that are marketed as toppers though like my kb shimmer love at frost sight or kb a little cooler. **the addition of holo would have been such a GOOD idea! 🤩
omg you’re a genius!! might have to play around with that, I know you’ve layered magnetics over other polishes and it’s honestly not something I would’ve thought of before! brb going to brainstorm some combos 📝 but right?? I guess I could’ve also added a little topper over them BUT I would’ve just preferred if it was already in the polish 😝

Thanks for sharing the swatches. I was really curious. Cirque magnetics do tend to be really sheer. What I like to do is layer them over darker base polish that's similar in shade. Honestly, it's the most use my creme formulas get haha. It's a really useful way to achieve better opacity. Think several of these would look better layered over darker polishes.
yess layering these over a creme sounds like the way to go 😅 its great bc it’ll just make the magnetic polishes last longer too, making it more worth the price. I’ll definitely try layering them soon, but thanks for watching!! :)
Great video. 😍Thanks for the comparisons. I did pick up a couple of these, and have some of the others you compared, but I don't have any of the holo taco magnetics and think that I need them! LOL
thank you so much! 🥰 the holo taco ones are really stunning, but I’ve seen a lot of people mention their magnetization isn’t as strong as other brands, so just a heads up! 😅
I’ve come to realize that Cirque magnetics are my favorite for the velvet effect bc their jelly base gives the magnetic pigment so much depth and really makes that velvet effect more prominent versus looking flat like some more opaque formulas. But I agree, the cat eye with these leaves me wanting more flakies or shimmer or something 😂 Have you tried maybe a milky-ish ridge filler underneath to help hide the nail line? I wonder if that would help make it look a little bit more complete.
that’s what a few people have mentioned!! but I’ve found some opaque magnetics still give me a really nice magnetic effect similar to cirque, though I haven’t compared those side by side so its totally possible the jelly base really helps make it pop even more. & that’s a good idea!! my best friend just sent me the one from mooncat which I’m planning to try soon, I’ve used other milky base coats but I would need like 3 coats for them to cover up my nail line 🥲
I’ve never been a huge fan of jellies and tbh even doing magnetics is a lot of work sometimes so I was kind of meh, but then you showed the velvet effect and OMG, gorgeous! They really do look amazing with the velvet effect, so if I pick any up, it’ll 100% be for that. Thanks for putting in so much effort even showing the comparisons with different effects! Super interesting to see how different the magnetics look side by side with different effects!
yeah I don’t loveee magnetics to begin with, they’re super tedious especially if you’re doing a full manicure but I know some people would only magnetize the top layer and it still gives a nice effect, so that saves a ton of time for sure! but yesss these really look amazing with the velvet effect, and totally agree! I was surprised to see how they all compare with their different effects, there’s soo many possibilities! thank you so much for watching & commenting!! 🤗
Thank you so much for the as always circumvent review Stefanie 💖 I honestely hoped for some more pizzaz in these polishes to live up to the campaign. And while I surely am biased as I don‘t like jellies, I still hoped that Cirque could convince me to try some anyhow. I wish that green would come as a cream or at least crelly - no need for me too get any added effect, it is hands down one of my alltime favorite colors.
thanks so much Christine!! 💗 totally agree with you, I think the shades are pretty but I wish there was a little more, or that the bases were more creme like even though i love jellies! you know I just remembered they have a polish called Groove Thing, I sadly don’t have that one anymore but it looks super similar to Lynx but iirc it’s more of a buildable crelly formula!
I don't like horoscope or seasonal wearing whatsoever, but I still love watching your videos. You are so relaxing and level-headed and your comparisons are super helpful. Not to mention you're extremely quick with these collections, always in time to purchase if I want to. Awesome channel and an awesome job on the editing/voiceover/music. Just wanted to say that! Onto the collection: 1. they're jellies so maybe you can try a jelly sandwich with these? 1 coat unmagnetized, flakie topper, 1 coat magnetized or something like that? 2. I will repeat what I said in one of your other videos, I am over red (and green) magnetics. Even if they're "pink", they're always so close to red, and the blackened base with green is incredibly tiring at this point. Can these companies find some other shades on the color wheel? Unbelievable 3. Kinda underwhelming collection just because of point 2. But I do love Cassiopeia and Delphinus. Might pick these up when I do a Hypnotic order eventually.
aw thank you so much for your sweet comment & feedback, I truly appreciate your support! ☺️ oh that’s actually a genius idea to layer a flakie topper!! i’ll have to try that soon 🤩 and haha yes we definitely have gotten SO many reds and greens, I’d love to see other shades for sure 😅 Cassiopeia & Delphinus are my top 2 picks though, even though at first I was a little underwhelmed with Cassiopeia after comparing it to Paradox (one of my fave Cirque shades ever), I think its still so beautiful in its own way!
Love the comparison swatches. Will you be swatching the new Mooncat Goddess Complex set? hoping someone will compare Artemis' Deathkiss with cirque's Deja Vu
that should be coming tonight! :)) sadly I don’t have Cirque’s Deja Vu but they definitely look SUPER similar 👀 my best guess is that mooncat’s shimmer is slightly more of a blue purple than a pinky purple!
Okay, I just wanted to add that Kinetic actually is currently available on cirque's website. Also I'm sad seeing you not love their formula because cirque is actually my favorite magnetic formula, I LOVE their aura and illusion collections SO much (as well as canabliss and fireworks which were single magnetic polish releases) I love how shimmery their magnetic pigment is and I actually really like their jelly base. I personally like that there isn't a holo flake in it, because I like to have the option of adding one on myself. I've added on holo top coats to the illusion collection multiple times and it's so gorgeous, but I love that they don't have them themself because sometimes I just want that simpler kind of magnetic and wear them without the holo. In comparison a lot of magnetics that come out are just *too* much for me, having too many things in them, if you know what I mean.
oh no way! I totally thought they had discontinued that one, that’s so good to know its still available, thank you for letting me know :) & aw i’m sorry!! I mean I really did love Cannabliss, Paradox, BAE and so many others when they first came out, but once I tried a more pigmented magnetic I was just hooked on those 🙈 but it is kind of weird since I do love a jelly polish (esp from Cirque!) - so I think its just the magnetic + jelly combo I’m not crazy about. that’s definitely a great point though about these being more versatile without having any extra flakies or glitters since you can essentially customize them, I absolutely understand what you mean about some other magnetics just having too much going on! 😅
I love Perseus and Cassiopeia. I've found that sheer jelly bases are my preference for magnetics, I dont like how they end up looking when they're more opaque. I think it diminishes the intensity of the magnetic. Im jealous of how well you get the velvet effect to work for you, I'm hopeless at achieving it. I've given up entirely. Thank you for the review!
those are gorgeous!! & so interesting, I haven’t found that more opaque bases lessen the magnetic effect for me, but I can definitely see what you mean about the squishy base just giving it more depth! & thank you so much, I was really proud at how intense some of the velvet effects looked, but overall I think these polishes have a great pigment to achieve them! They definitely are really finicky though, but I’m going to try and do a tutorial soon so maybe you can try again! :) thanks so much for watching!
This is what I’ve been waiting for! I think magnetics with a grittier pigment look better velvet. I wasn’t going to get any of these, but now I might 😂
oh yay I’m glad you’re loving these!! yeah totally agree about the pigment affecting how it looks w a velvet effect. Cirque polishes are great for that 🤩✨
I’m in the cirque colors Facebook group, so I got to see bottle shots and descriptions for each of the polishes and was beyond excited since their illusion collection is absolutely stunning, but now that I’m seeing the swatches they’re kinda meh to me. Personally I really love the fact that they have a jelly base, I just wish that the duochrome shift was stronger :/ I think I’ll buy them though, cause I’m obsessed with magnetics and know that I’ll still use them 😂
aw I’m sorry! I hate that feeling about being excited for a new collection but then immediately being disappointed when you see more swatches 😭 the jelly bases are really pretty for the most part, but yes 100% agree about wishing the duochrome was stronger :/ I’m glad you’ll be picking up this collection though!! ☺️
Lilly I’m with you 100% and agree. I LOVE that they have a jelly base but the magnetic shift is very underwhelming. Not sure if they did that intentionally being that it’s a spring collection which is suppose to be “lighter” but it’s a very meh collection lol. I adore the illusion one- best magnetics ever. It would also be nice to see a neon jelly magnetic in the summer 🤔
@@melindadevito7326 a neon jelly magnet would seriously be so cool!!! And yes the illusion collection is probably my favourite collection ever! I kinda set my expectations too high for this collection because of it 😂
@@melindadevito7326 Considering how they’ve nailed the duo chrome in the past, I think it was intentional here. This Heavenly collection went for a softer look. Kind of like how the soda shoppe(?) collection didn’t have a strong magnetization but was more diffused like carbonation bubbles. I do respect that they have variety for each vision, even if it means risking universal appeal.
great video! i got 4 of them but skipped out on lyra and perseus. i have so many red magnetics and lyra looks like a dupe for halo. i LOVE jelly polish, and the simple magic of cirque magnetics. i like toppers a lot so i like being able to choose one or layer like a jelly sandwich with the magnetics. also i need to see someone compare halo from the aura collection with lyra, and cannabliss with lynx. the way you do comparisons is so helpful to see! also a PSA for anyone reading comments who, like me, missed out on the illusionist and aura collections; BAE, kinetic, and eye of the beholder(!!!) are in stock again :D
OMG I am kicking myself for completely forgetting about Cannabliss + Halo!!!! 🤦🏻♀️ I’ll share the bottle comparisons to my IG stories soon if you want to check, but I would say: Halo is more of a cool toned taupe while Lyra looks more brown & warm, and the shimmer in Halo is more silvery/white gold, so it can kind of look similar to Lyra and how it has the champagne shimmer! Cannabliss + Lynx are more obviously different imo; the base of Cannabliss is a lot less yellow/olive leaning (it’s almost like the skin of lime lol) and looks more monochromatic with the bright green magnetic shimmer. hopefully that helps! :) Also I had no idea they restocked those, yay!!
@@PolishedYogi thanks for the super thorough reply, it definitely does help! and I'll keep an eye on insta too :) oh edit -- just saw them in your story, thank you again!!
These are very beautiful with the velvet effect, but not sure if I like them enough as jellies. I wonder if you painted two coats without magnetizing first then cat eye magnetized the third coat if the base would appear more opaque?
exactly my thoughts! & that’s definitely an interesting thing to test out, I figure magnetizing the top layer would still pull away the pigment revealing the jelly base underneath, but theres a chance it could be more opaque 🤔 i’ll have to test that out soon!
I like shear polishes personally . These are stunning I have many magnetics some from Cirque I need to try this Velvet Effect Look , its very ethereal 😎 tfs ❤ Delphinus is y fav too 😊
it’s so weird because I love sheers and jellies too! I don’t know why I just don’t like it with magnetic polishes 🙈 but yess you have to try velvet nails, they’re gorgeous! glad to hear Delphinus is your favorite too 💙🌌
Wow! Cassiopeia is stunning with the velvet effect. 😍 that’s really the only one I’m like, ok maybe I need this. I just wasn’t super excited about this collection. 🙁 I think the velvet effects are super nice with them, but not thrilled with the formula being so jelly and see through. I think they could have been so much more amazing had they been more opaque.
wasn’t that one crazy!? I really impressed myself lol I do wonder if the others can look that way too, so I’ll have to try them again! totally get you though, they look pretty but its hard to get past the jelly bases if its not your preference. I might also try these layered over cremes just to see how they’d look, that would be more worth it at least since it would mean using less product & making it last longer 😅
@@PolishedYogi For sure! Would love to see a little video of how you did the velvet effect with these. They def are magical with the velvet effect! ✨✨✨
yes!! I made a little tutorial/hack for velvet nails using ILNP Zero Degrees on my Shorts tab :) I probably will make another tutorial soon though with the “full” method I used for these!
This is the first time I’ve bought nail polish immediately after a release, without seeing any non-brand swatches. I was impatient because Lyra looked so good I was afraid it would sell out while I overthought it. I swore to get green polish but wasn’t sure about the shade of this one so just told myself to stop and get just Lyra. Well thank you, glad to see I made the right choice. (I have short nails and don’t mind visible nail line.) I’m another here who appreciates the aura/ crystal effect swatches! I couldn’t get Eye of the Beholder to set/stay (after a few hours ended up very similar to same effect with HT Fairy Tail) but am excited to try again with Lyra. Jelly bases were 💕made💕for velvet effect. Surprised they didn’t use it more in their advertising. Also, Kinetic was in stock went I went to check these out. 😂 You compared all the ones that popped into my head; I actually went to those other brands’ sites to check. 😂 Halo was one you didn’t do I wanted to see compared to Lyra; Lyra seemed warmer to me on first impressions from the site. Thanks as always for your dedication and detailed video. Cheers to your hand health! 🥂
yay I’m glad you picked up Lyra before it sold out! I think these are permanent to their collection but totally get not wanting to wait for a restock lol! I’m sure you’ll love it :) I’m glad you like that velvet effect too! It just looks so soft and fuzzy ☺️ & oh that sucks about Eye of the Beholder, I’ve seen it looks really good on some people but I’m not sure how long they were wearing it for.. I do remember Fairy Tail diffused a lot more than I expected overnight but it was still really pretty lol. that’s true though that maybe the jelly bases really helps that velvet effect shine through even more! I was kicking myself for forgetting to include Halo in my comparisons 😩 I shared a bottle comparison on my IG stories in case you wanna go check, but yes Lyra is definitely warmer and more brown leaning than Halo which is a little more of a silvery champagne :) Thanks so much for watching & commenting! ☺️
I'm a huge fan of Cirque but overall this collection is one that I can skip. There are other brands that do a better job with colors/formulas that are similar to this collection. I've also had issues with Cirque jellies pooling so three thinner coats seems to be the route to go if you want to use their jelly formulas.
i can definitely see that! I know I can be a bit heavy handed sometimes (or impatient with my dry time) but still totally agree about other brands providing better formulas in general! I do hope Cirque would consider reformulating their magnetics to be a little less jelly since it doesn’t really add much to the finish imo
For some reason I’m getting past the magnetic trend. I feel I should be more excited by them but I’m not 🤷🏼♀️ I would though like some pastel/summery magnetics for a change and would have picked up the Bubbly Collection but saw bad reviews 😟 so I hope they come up with something a bit more successful on that front this year
I definitely have had magnetic fatigue especially after last year! 😅 and oh yess I didn’t love that collection (mainly bc of the lack of holo), but it would be nice to see more brights/pastels in their magnetic formula! ideally with a little more sparkle hehe.
These are beautiful, but 3 coats is too much work for me. 😂 Too much drying time, the jellies just dry too s l o w l y …. …. …. TFS! I agree with your opinion, they seem to be missing something. Side note, I did just buy ‘La vie en rose’ and absolutely love it 💕
haha i hear you!! it’s definitely a tedious process just to paint a full hand 🥲 but yay for grabbing La Vie en Rose!! it really is such a pretty thermal 🥹💖
I have a mini tutorial on my Shorts channel using ILNP Zero Degrees with a hack for creating velvet nails! 😊 you basically hold the magnet all around your nail but my hack is only holding it on the sides, it works well for some polishes but its still more finnicky than a cat eye effect. arguably so worth it though!
I feel like such a hater but I am so over magnetics!! lol I just can't stand the time it takes to do them, plus that the effect never seems to last more than 20ish hours for me, feels like maximum work for minimum reward. but this is 100% just my personal choice ofc, and I do think they look so so beautiful! especially the velvet Cassiopeia look you made, gorgeous!! and I'm genuinely happy cirque put out another connection I don't really like -- just making it easier to keep my low-buy 😂 awesome swatches and comparisons as always. :)
LOL noo not a hater!! Its just your preference hehe 😝 magnetics aren’t my favorite finish so I feel a lot more critical of them where they have to WOW me.. sadly I do agree that these feel like max effort for min reward 😓 but I think theres a lot of other great magnetics out there that would be more worth it! I saw Kelli Marissa share that she only magnetizes her top layer instead of each one, so that would at least save some time but idk if she’s mentioned it diffusing any faster (I’d imagine so 😬) … but yes overall we’ll take it as a win for your low-buy! thanks so much for watching & commenting 🤗
Yeah, these formulas aren't it. I'm generally not opposed to doing 3 coats for magnetics, but the jelly base in these polishes is so sheer that 3 coats isn't nearly enough, in my opinion. I'm also not that impressed with the magnetic effect, though I agree that the velvet technique works incredibly well. And I also don't really see the star inspiration in this collection. It needs holo sparkle and stronger shifts. Overall, I just feel like I'll save my money for more unique magnetics from now on.
yeah I agree 😅 I really wish they did add some holo or silver micro flake in there, I think it would help cover up or distract how sheer the bases are (maybe only a little bit lol), but I also wonder if that was the whole reason they also released the Starry Night charms, to layer over these specifically? but yes I generally feel that way about magnetics, they’re not my favorite finish so I really only get excited when they’re more unique!
You are the first swatcher who created a velvet look that I can actually see the velvet effect. Most times it just looks highlighted to me. Beautiful!

Can you please make video showing us how you do the velvet effect? It's so pretty! I always struggle with it though 😔
Oh! Just saw the short you made! 🙏🏻
yay so glad you found it!! sorry I didn’t include the tutorial in this video though
@@InvisibleRen that’s a really great point!
great video! i got 4 of them but skipped out on lyra and perseus. i have so many red magnetics and lyra looks like a dupe for halo. i LOVE jelly polish, and the simple magic of cirque magnetics. i like toppers a lot so i like being able to choose one or layer like a jelly sandwich with the magnetics.
also i need to see someone compare halo from the aura collection with lyra, and cannabliss with lynx. the way you do comparisons is so helpful to see!
also a PSA for anyone reading comments who, like me, missed out on the illusionist and aura collections; BAE, kinetic, and eye of the beholder(!!!) are in stock again :D
OMG I am kicking myself for completely forgetting about Cannabliss + Halo!!!! 🤦🏻♀️ I’ll share the bottle comparisons to my IG stories soon if you want to check, but I would say:
Halo is more of a cool toned taupe while Lyra looks more brown & warm, and the shimmer in Halo is more silvery/white gold, so it can kind of look similar to Lyra and how it has the champagne shimmer!
@@PolishedYogi thanks for the super thorough reply, it definitely does help! and I'll keep an eye on insta too :)
oh edit -- just saw them in your story, thank you again!!
Do you have a video on how you do the velvet look? I feel like ive seen you show us before but i can't remember what video it was in. Thank you!
(I have short nails and don’t mind visible nail line.)
I’m another here who appreciates the aura/ crystal effect swatches!
I’m sure you’ll love it :)
I’m glad you like that velvet effect too! I was kicking myself for forgetting to include Halo in my comparisons 😩 I shared a bottle comparison on my IG stories in case you wanna go check, but yes Lyra is definitely warmer and more brown leaning than Halo which is a little more of a silvery champagne :)
Thanks so much for watching & commenting! ☺️
How do you do the velvet effect please ?
If you go to my channel, click the Shorts tab and 8 months ago I have a video called Blue Velvet Nails with the tutorial 😊
Never get enough magnetic polishes.
they’re mesmerizing for sure!! 🤩
The quality is only 360p available for me? Is it supposed to be like that?
Okay, maybe I just needed to refresh a couple times cuz I finally got the other quality settings to show up
I think that means you were super early to my video! it takes a second to process haha :)
Velvet effect ??? How ? Wouldn’t mind seeing these without magnet
@@PolishedYogi it would be cool to add a link in a pinned comment or description bc your hack is super helpful. Love these swatches and comparisons!
Lynx looks great on you though 👀👀
aw I appreciate that! 🙈
