Yes the same actors were playing multiple parts. Monty Python is a troupe of six actors five brits ( Terry Jones, Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Michael Palin, Eric Idle) and one American (Terry Gilliam) who came together in an absurdist comedy sketch show called "Monty Python's Flying Circus" which aired in four seasons between 1969 and 1974 - Terry Gilliam doing all the animations which were a signature element of the show.
The humour of the pythons was pretty much unique at the time, though they took inspiration from an earlier 1950s absurdist radio show "The Goon show". The pythons influence on british comedy was huge and inspired the coining of the word "pythonesque".

  • @davidwebb4451

Coconuts were the standard sound effect for horses on radio. And the reason that Monty Python used them in this movie was that they didn't have the money for a lot of horses and most of the Monty Python team couldn't ride anyway. Besides which using coconuts was a lot funnier.
(Note. The one horse in the movie is ridden by the killer of the famous historian which is why we know that Arthur and his group are innocent. )

19:58 I love how, this deep into the movie, you're still trying to make sense of things 😂
Monty Python was a British comedy group, active mostly in the 1970s. Now that you have a taste of their style of comedy, I recommend you check out their 70s sketch comedy show, Monty Python's Flying Circus. They also have two more movies of original material, Monty Python's Life of Brian, and Monty Python's The Meaning of Life.

Agree. Doubt this had a correlation with the N word. The N word would stop when black toned people stop using it. Most of black people animosity is that they still used the word nigger against themselves. Their own worst enemy is their selves.

Considering that king Arthur's quests were legendary, in the sense they did not happen ... who can really say if the troupe got it wrong. Monty Python might have been on to something. Of course they would need to see a doctor to get rid of it. But that's for another time.

This is still one of the funniest films I’ve ever seen. It’s so absurd and deliberately ridiculous, that in a way it’s brilliant. They take absurdity as far as it can go.

Well, your suspicions were true. The Knights Who Say "Ni," were indeed the guardians of the notorious N word: Nickel! They later became the Knights Who Say "Currency Exchange," which later became the Knights Who Say "XChange," and are currently called "FX Brokers." As I understand it, they also guard the mystic words, shilling, sixpence, and quid. Although, you may want to check on those for yourself, I am an American, after all.

    1. What about the moose?
    2. Paying attention to the opening credits makes it better for everyone, including you.
    3. The first time I saw this was in the back of a pickup at a drive-in (it's still here) with my siblings and a couple of friends.
    4. Perfect Monty Python where you can just get sucked into something where you don't have to think about anything and just let yourself go.
    5. "What ya gonna do? Bleed on me." "we'll call it a draw"
    6. Quick bit: "Blow it out your ass"!
    7. The ultimate cock block 😭
    8. Robin's shield is a chicken.
9.The only horse in the film is ridden by the guy that killed the historian.

    • @davidwebb4451
      @davidwebb4451 8 дней назад

@@melchiorvonsternberg844If there was a real war chief/warrior who the legends of King Arthur were loosely based upon then he would have been in the fifth or sixth century. Towards the start of the film Arthur says he was the defeater of the Saxons which would fit in with the late fifth or early sixth century but is totally anachronistic in 932 AD (There was a real king of England at that time - actually the first king of England - Athelstan who was an Anglo-Saxon).
The fact that the film contains so many anachronisms ( Armour and sword styles, Norman style castles, the plague and flagellants from the 14th century, witch trials from the 15th and 16th century etc) is though in keeping with the legends which were elaborated upon by successive writers throughout the centuries and are filled with similar anachronisms. One of the python team Terry Jones was actually a medieval historian so although everything is taken to an absurdist extreme most of the jokes are based either on real things which happened in the medieval period or Arthurian lore.
