    Nolan's 3 Easy Simple Steps to Pine Compression:
    1. Find your perfect pine cone, must be at least 4 - 5 cm across and must not still be attached to tree
    2. Hold the pine cone firmly between your thumb and index finger of your left hand
    3. Begin to apply pressure to the pine cone until it becomes a flat 2 dimensional disc
    And there you have it, your very own compressed pine. Can be used as a frisbee or placemat, or can be used to replace your parents

    Listened to your music for a while now, because I was always mind-blown at the sound design of your songs. I thought you couldn't possibly have tutorials because most professional producers want to keep their tricks a secret. So stumbling upon your youtube channel was like finding a pot of gold.
    Thank you for your tutorials; it's inspiring me to get back into making music again!

    You're saying the width between the two dots in EQ Eight can never be consistent because the dots get closer to each other... It might be a stupid question but isn't that just a visual "trick" on account of the bands in a parametric EQ gradually getting tighter the higher (in Hz) you go because each band has to cover more and more frequencies ? Like you know, in the low end say you have 20Hz per cm but in the top end, a cm covers like 10K Hz. So in the end the width stays the same frequency-wise, you just visually see it get tighter but it doesn't affect the frequency "gap"
    ... Right ?

    • @apoplexiamusic
      @apoplexiamusic 7 лет назад +3

      ça créé vraiment un gap...en augmentant la fréquence quand tu boost ou tu coupes, tu remarques vraiment le décalage ou le rapprochement des bandes. le mouvement de l'automation est linéaire, mais le changement de fréquence par rapport à ce mouvement est exponentiel, alors tu peux jamais avoir une corrélation fixe... je l'explique pas clairement, mais si tu essaie d'automate deux bandes en parallèle, le facteur linéaire du knob versus l'augmentation exponentiel de la fréquence associé aux données du knob fait que ça chie...

    • @Lepoutreur
      @Lepoutreur 7 лет назад +1

      Je vois, au temps pour moi ! Merci de l'explication :)

    • @Lepoutreur
      @Lepoutreur 7 лет назад

      I see... Strange. But sorry, does the EQ8 sound like it looks ? Does it really sounds like it goes from two peaks with a gap in between to a huge, single peak ?

    • @apoplexiamusic
      @apoplexiamusic 7 лет назад

      Frequent i can't figure out why eq8 does that... but as i tried badly explaining to Maxime in French, it could come from the way that the knob controlling the frequency is programmed. Like the has a linear movement that tries to best accommodate a very exponential increase in the frequency range the higher you go up

    • @intikon3103
      @intikon3103 7 лет назад +5

      you know i think you may be right! so if the bandwidth wanted to be maintained as he wants then you would want to have the knobs be logarithmic when they actually do seem linear right now. interesting

    • @avokado1386
      @avokado1386 6 лет назад +3

      for the filter just use the parametric eq 2; as a compressor you can use ott (not a native fl plugin but it's free, so..), maximus or the fruity compressor
      there are also fruity fast distortion, fruity blood overdrive, camelcrusher, camelphat etc
      almost everything described in this tutorial can be achieved in fl studio

  • @123string4

    The eq band covers the same amount of frequencies regardless of where it is on the spectrum. The dots look like they get closer together because the spectrum has a logarithmic scale.

      yeah, this idiot doesn't know what he's doing ) gotta love the american 'bros' talking about audio and 'neurofunk'... turn a few knobs and push a couple of buttons and all of the sudden they think they're the shit )) part of that is these hysterical kids commenting shit like 'wow, bro that is amazing'... it isn't, dude.. that's like basic shit and nowhere near the quality of a track released on a proper label.. speaking of which.. where are your releases, 'bro'? )) oh you don't have any, that's what I thought... this question always makes these youtubers mad 'cause they know they'll never get a release on a proper label )) so yeah, your 'educational' videos and business will never get you anywhere, unless all you want is an ego inflated by 14 year olds impressed with so little...so yeah.. peace, I'm out ))

      He's the owner of Upscale Recordings and all of its roster has been releasing better, more original music than 99% of anything out there. A lot of producers look up to these guys technically. Feel like a jackass yet? Go listen to your Marshmello and stfu

    • @YaGenezis
      @YaGenezis 6 лет назад

      Hahahaha.... Upscale Records? Who the fuck is that? )) I had to google it, no joke. Apparently it's a tiny label from the US, around 6000 followers on twitter hahahaha... Also listened to a couple of tracks. It's a generic, low quality copy of European drum'n'bass which doesn't surprise me since after watching this guy's videos I immediately had an idea of what kind of 'producer' this guy is... For the drums he grabs a few samples from sample packs released by the big names in Europe, arranges them in a generic pattern and then goes for a hi-hat loop from another sample pack )) Bass, he just distorts the shit out of it and slaps a notch filter, repeats the process... pfff, lazy much? Oh and... his basses have way too much high end, pierces my ears. Is this the technicality you admire? I feel sorry for you ))
      Jackass? )) Haha, American 'Neurofunk' (it's drum'n'bass you fags!!) community is a big joke )))
      I have no clue who is that Marshmello bloke but I can tell I've been listening to jungle/drum'n'bass since 1994 and released tunes on some of the most respected labels in the scene so yeah, kid... keep being an idiot and admiring mediocre copies of the real thing ))

    It should be sine soft clip bass. A soft clip is saturation/ distortion and not compression.

    • @wojciech2279
      @wojciech2279 7 лет назад +1

      You know that distortion is a specific kind of compression, right?

    • @NeZversSounds
      @NeZversSounds 7 лет назад +8

      Wojciech Kaftanowicz I know that some people keep missinterpret like that. Compression is time based volume shaping and he made his point clearly that you get that effect not with compression but with CLIPPING. Distortion is artifacts from wave shaping and only way to get distortion from actual compression is running into super fast attack and release (a.k.a limiter), but there's a catch - because compression is time based and same with notes, achieved distortion is varying with notes (low notes distort but on higher compressor can't react fast enough).
