Oakhurst resident here. Very nice video. I have a friend from Miami (whom I met in Japan a couple years back) He's never been to California, but is hoping to visit soon. This will be a fun video to show to him. I'll have to show this to Max too, so he can see how the video came out (provided he hasn't already seen it)

Lived in Mariposa for about 7 years and never knew about the Fresno Flats old town museum...gonna have make a trip over there after this Covid pandemic dies down!
Not really, Big Bear's are way scarier. They're still scaling a mountain and like all roads like this you'll end up with some jackoff in a pick up truck tailgating you trying to show they're not afraid of a little thing like falling 2,000 feet to their death, however the roads themselves are pretty tame and have much more of a steady progression then big bear's let me see how many ways I can zig zag type style.

@@TheTaleofCities we went 1 time but never again! We go to June lake a lot and explore out there but now that fishing is closed and lakes are frozen we’re looking into other places that don’t have crazy side cliff roads
@@onelik Just past Oakhurst is a place called Bass Lake that's extremely beautiful. Only been there once but a much calmer drive, just a longer one if you're coming from SoCal.
Just a technical note for future videos... it would be a lot nicer to listen to (especially with headphones or earphones) if the narration was in both channels instead of just in the left channel. Your background music is in both channels.
Agreed, I don't know why the editing program we use does that but for some reason it only lets us use one. We'll probably switch to another in the future.
While better safe than sorry, it depends on the weather and where you plan on driving. Oakhurst has a lot of paved roads and is tourist heavy so it's likely they are cleared of any snow semi often. Still, check the weather forecast before coming. I ordered chains on Amazon a week ago and got them a day later so keep an eye on it and stay safe. Better to have them and not need them then need them and not have them I say.

Sad to report but unless you are able to deal with the extreme heat in the summer, grey sky’s and falling ash from the fires that get worse each year, I seriously would not consider moving here. Somewhere in the Midwest where there is rain, although not as charming as oakhurst, would be your best bet. A recent swarm of earthquakes may also be something to consider. 🙏✝️🎺♥️🍃🍃(Signed a 6 year resident.)
That would need to be another series, we try to focus on positive elements in places. We can and will talk about some of the less then ideal circumstances we see in some areas that can't help but be pointed out but Oakhurst really has it better then most towns in both it's state and country. All towns have positives and negatives, but no one knows those negatives better then the people who live there and we were only in town for a few days.

We retired near here five years ago at Bass Lake and LOVE it. Had to evacuate for the Creek Fire and so glad our home was spared. Enjoyed your video.

I am gonna travel to Oakhurst from January 14-17. Just wondering if chains are required there.

You are required to have them with you in winter conditions. It's California law. And it doesn't matter if you have a 4WD or an AWD vehicle.
