    At the University of Manchester (England) an Egyptian mummy is unwrapped surgically by doctors in a modern surgical theater.
    The Egyptologists discover many surprising things about this mummy, including the ambiguous sexual attribution of the mummy, and that the mummy was likely re-wrapped in the Roman era.

    I was in Egypt in 1981. When I visited the Valley of the Kings in Luxor there was an unwrapped Roman era mummy that was in very poor condition just lying on the ground near the foot path. Nearby their was a small cave or crypt that was partially blocked off with a pile rocks. Inside I found four or five more Roman period mummys, but these were still wrapped with the strips of cloth had wood pieces covering the head portions with realistic paintings of the faces of the deceased still on them. The faces looked typical of the faces that you see in other Roman paintings about 100-200 AD.

      That’s cool, those mummies you seen were Fayum mummy paintings.

      @@xJets1 I was amazed that I could find mummies just that were laying around on the ground since it's the sort of thing that you would expect to find in a museum in the US. I tried to take pictures of the mummies inside the cave, but I didn't have a flash for my camera.
      I recommend that everyone visit Egypt if they can. I spent two months there when I was 20 exploring every corner. I stayed in local hotels that only cost me $4.00 a night for a double, took a six day boat ride in a small Faluka sailboat down the Nile from Aswan to Luxor and visited St. Anthony's Monastery near the Red Sea. It is fascinatingly place!

    In my classical archaeology university time I only got to participate in two unwrapping sessions both of which were supposedly from the early 15 & 16th dynasty. If memory serves (it’s been thirty years) both were male priests. The Roman era as one can see had bizarre changes to the mummification procedure that clearly demarcated different times in history. While I absolutely love Roman history I am not a huge fan of their history within Egypt. Just my two cents worth of opinion 😂

      Romans were just invaders. Same as ptolemy peoples. If you only knew this history sir it'll change your life overnight. It gets extremely deep if you ever need me to explain some it goes all the way up to Carthage. You wouldn't believe me if I told you. But I teach this history daily here in NY.

    Thinking more about this and deeply, perhaps the mummified body was a female, perhaps a royal blood, the missing limbs may be because of a crocodile or other creature that may have attacked the male or female person, not only the limbs being gone but also some other sectors of the body. Very fascinating but also you feel some what sorry for the child

    Good thing nobody tried to come up the speculation that these remains were of Jesus of Nazareth in an effort to deny His resurrection like many around the world says that the Lord Jesus Christ never existed in particular many modern era Jews like to say or that the resurrection even if they say that yes Jesus of Nazareth existed that He could not possibly resurrected..

    This is sad these people I’m not even from the culture I’m not even from that area they should not disrespecting mummy or have any dealings with the mummy this should be studied by their own people. I’m tired of people stealing peoples history.

    • @Adv18
      @Adv18 Год назад

      How is this stealing people’s history? It’s called being an Archaeologist, and unfortunately for modern day Egypt, it’s well known that the most advanced and trained Archaeologists come from Britain.
      Secondly, it’s not unusual for another country to study the history & cultures of other countries to give a fair, and non biased telling of that countries history.
      I mean, an example of this: would you have expected Germany to give a fair, and non biased telling of the holocaust?
      I’d rather have people on the job who know what they are doing rather than a bunch of unqualified clowns whose only claim is they are from that country lol, and without disrespect to modern day Egypt, their school & colleges for Archaeology really aren’t the best.
