Ext3 is a Linux file system. You need a Linux Distro (Ubuntu has simplicity going, but I'll recommend Arch-based distros [Manjaro, Chakrra or Artix Linux] instead for performance) to work with a Pandora's Box machine, as they're just Linux computers in a cabinet/case.
Good morning. I need your help. I have a Pandora 9d box. I backed up the SD and saved it to Google Drive. 2 years later, the original SD failed, but I can't make the backup files bootable and the system won't boot. I have 3 boot files and folders with roms and everything else I had. Could you help me? Thanks a lot. Greetings from Uruguay
Thanks for uploading these videos for Pandora Boxes... I'm a total noob to these devices and it really helps that give information... Hoping to buy a good one just not yet decided which one as I don't wish to fiddle around with a device.. I'm more of a plug and play(for the pandoras) and a little bit of altering settings(very basic) so yeah your vids help us decide what to get👍👍👍 btw great selection of arcade games to showcase, did not know some of them
Were your USB ports on the PC 2.0? (the piece inside the USB slot will be blue not white), had this exact same issue myself and 2.0 did the trick. Also the port for connecting to the PC was the botton USB for me, which is the opposite to the ones I've seen on RUclips. ^^

Lol well so much for adding V-Sync. Hopefully one day they will start implementing V-Sync into these machines to cut down on the screen tearing. Probably not anytime soon tho as the Chinese just don't seem to care.
4:12 As you found out, Windows can't even read an ext3 volume, so how could Windows write a file to one? All these emulation boxes run on some kind of free Linux-based OS and their included media are formatted for it. If you're wondering why they didn't just use the universally compatible FAT32 file system so you can manipulate it on your Windows system, it's because the volume with the games on it is 6.6GB and the largest FAT32 volume possible is 4GB.
Yes, or you can solder more on but make sure to tap in to the power source. I'm not sure where that is though but I'm sure there must be guides in the net for adding more LEDs. It is very possible though.
Ext3 is Linux partition. If you want to modify anything in this SD you need to stick it on a Linux machine, you can use a live distribution from an USB thumb drive, like Ubuntu
Do all the pandora box do the same cause i am thinking of buying another one? It cause all the game works great on my pandora box, except NBA JAM its one of my favorite games. Thats the only reason i got interesting in buying pandora box
Hi Mark, how are you? Kinda random, but still emulation-related: are you aware of any PC/Windows emulator (or MAME version, or Retroarch specific core...) which is able to run Night Slashers correctly, without those infamous transparency glitches? Thanks in advance! ^_-
@@RetroCore Thank you! I'll check it out then, as I'm one/two updates behind, and last time I tried it the infamous wall during the initial van crash sequence was still missing (instead of being transparent).
Have you thought about making a copy of the card into another microSD card, and then trying to do some tweaking ? The original one may be protected, but after copying it you may probably surpass this, and add your own stuff into it. You will still have original card in case something goes wrong. Connecting into PC probably needs the debug mode to be activated, and to my knowledge, almost always you can do it by pressing and holding a specific button or button combination during the boot. Not sure which one in that case, but with many Android based devices from past few years this was a way to go. I'm sure that past this point is quite an easy task to customize this further, as you'd probably gain access to config files, splashscreen, menu music, games and so on. Mind you that changing the resolution and other stuff may lead to some games being laggy, as they probably tried to keep it as optimized as possible.

I picked up a pandoras box 12 as an upgrade from a 6s. It had double the games listed but unfortunately the names are all wrong and ide say half the 3000 were duplicates. Not great. Some extra games were there but some previous games were missing. Disappointed really. My 6s game names were all accurate and single listed. But the 12 did have extra games not on the 6s and ran 3d games better. You live and learn. It's a hit and miss thing with these machines. No idea why they wont allow you to add other games though.
It's safe. I was using my emulation PC, not the main PC. This one isn't connected to any network so if a virus appeared it would be contained thankfully.
Yeah. The previous system I had kept the language to what ever it was set when changing resolution. This machine though has no language option. Its all linked to the resolution.
Thanks for sharing this idea, shame you can't get any files on it. 😅
Try Raspberry Pi to pen that Ext3, weird thet you haven`t tested it already. :D
another great review, Mark! at 9:00 the game Ken-Go I had that for the Master System but it was called Kenseiden
I think that's a different game but very similar in style.
@@RetroCore oh right! they are very similar
Only one way to find out. I'll get the popcorn to enjoy seeing this Mark. 8^)
Anthony..
The filesystem is ext3, right? I suppose you could access it with a linux system. Have a raspberry pi handy? :)
I do have a pi but it's inside a GBPi case.

I see. Maybe there is hope to ad V-sync.
I have Linux Mint 19.3 CINNAMON (Tricia) 64bit edition which can read all the files on those MicroSD cards.

Mine works on ps3 or pc when the power source is connected

I guess I'm pretty randomly asking but does anyone know of a good website to stream newly released series online ?
@Edison Payton lately I have been using FlixZone. You can find it by googling :)
i found a pic where the USB port was described to connect 2 PD9 together for competive gaming
Maybe that's also a feature but acording to the manual it's so you can use it as a PC joystick.
Are they all street fighter clones.2000 ?
thanx, RC! if only i could give it another LIKE, i would definitely do it for those several seconds of GO STRAIGHT!!

Mine is all in Chinese. Any idea how to change it to English? I didn't find anything in the settings. Maybe there's a way to upgrade the system? Thx
There should be an English option but it's been years since I've used a device like this. Try looking for an option that lloks like this 言語
On my Pandora treasure You have to enable the Joystivk mode in the Settings to use it on PC, PS3 etc, maybe you have that menu too.
Sadly not. The last Pandora Box I checked had it though.
Gunbird looks super , did i hear a rooster ?
Can I bring on more LED‘s on that?
Sure.
@@RetroCore how can I do that? Can i just replace the 2 pin connector and set up a plate for my led?
Yes, or you can solder more on but make sure to tap in to the power source. I'm not sure where that is though but I'm sure there must be guides in the net for adding more LEDs. It is very possible though.
The left joystick is missing a screw.
Attention to detail!

Did you try to plug it into a Linux pc or into a raspberry? It's odd that it was totally unrecognised. Also did you try both ports right?
At the time I had no raspberry pi but it should have worked on Windows according to the manual.
How can i fix a game if it slow on a pandora box 11 ?
I'm afraid you can't. The emulation for that particular game isn't very good so it runs poorly.
Do all the pandora box do the same cause i am thinking of buying another one? It cause all the game works great on my pandora box, except NBA JAM its one of my favorite games. Thats the only reason i got interesting in buying pandora box

Sure, the latest version of mame runs it fine doesn't it? I'm sure it does.

Tried that but the same issue. Some people are saying it maybe a Linux format.

You probably have to flash it with etcher or rufus, so you have a bootable card, copying the files alone May not be enough
does virtua fighter and racing work on that?
I doubt it. Those games need quite a lot of Cpu power.
It doesnt even play MK2/3/Ultimate. Its chinese POS.
I am looking for an hack for enable V-sync on my DX 3000
That would be a good hack to have on quite a few of these devices.
get linux mint live usb and see if you can see the sd card content
The fact you couldn't put Castle Shikigami music on there is an absolute travesty. Someone, find how to change the music STAT!
Maybe you can’t hook it up to a computer because it’s a bootleg? Just wondering.
Hmm, maybe but the previous one I looked at could be hooked up. That was also a bootleg.
@Retro Core you must be exhausted pressing them buttons :)
Lol, I never realised how often they are pressed. Well, the stick is probably making most of the noise.

Yeah, they've started adding console games to them now too which is annoying.
Osman looks like sonic.
I wouldn`t dare to put any "Chinesium" memory card or USB to a Windows pc, it will handle only the malware properly.... :D

Street fighter = sale
Strange that 4:3 aspect ratio is Chinese only.
Yeah. The previous system I had kept the language to what ever it was set when changing resolution. This machine though has no language option. Its all linked to the resolution.
Pink aliens , wtf and?
