I had the surgery going on 7 months now I did great yes at the beginning it was painful and it was a pretty serious surgery but after about five six days back and forth to the surgeon getting the stitches out and different things and them having to reprogram and everything I'm doing good great I went from chronic pain to no pain it's wonderful my doctor my surgeon he's one of the best I had mine done in Lexington Kentucky at Central Baptist Hospital
To anyone out there know the risks. My doctor had trouble inserting the paddle at my spinal cord stimulator trial. He hit my spinal cord and I had to be admitted to the hospital. I had to have a decompression done because my spinal cord was bruised. A week later because of my leg weakness my left leg buckled taking a step and broke both my femur bones. I was in the hospital 9 days and rehab for almost 3 weeks. Went home in a wheelchair for 8 weeks and I have been on a walker now for a while with severe nerve damage to my left leg. I was walking with a cane before all this. It was the worst decision of my life. It will definitely help some people but just know the risks. I’m very disappointed with my outcome but it was a chance I decided to take. It was a really bad decision unfortunately. My doctor was trying to help me but failed miserably. Be careful !!!
I’m sure your feeling discomfort. I can appreciate that. It’s part of any surgery, just talk with doctor before hand. That way there’s no misunderstanding how it’s going to be handled.
GGG GRANDADDbY GRENADINE GLOVESKIN sorry to hear that I had my stimulator upgraded last 2 months ago and I can't feel the tingling at all ask your doctor tell him your battery keeps dying on you and if you can have the upgrade upgrade the upgrade is Tingle tingles
They now have high frequency stimulation that you don’t feel. I can set it to low frequency and feel the tingling. It’s terribly annoying. Can’t imagine having that continuously.
I have the St. Judes stimulator implanted about a month ago, I was in total hell for the first 2 1/2 weeks. My pain has gotten better and the burst technology still isnt working near as good as the trial.
So lucky.I’m 4 days post op. They sent me home puking after surgery, had to go to ER 2 days after due to Spinal Cord Fluid Leak and they only kept me 6hrs and called my doc (this was a Friday) they sent me home and said if still a prob on Monday the Doc would do a blood patch to fix in office. Still have severe headache and puky. Oh, and I forgot to mention they buried the generator in the wrong side of my back
I would be talking to an attorney or tell your doctor your getting one. Not had my permanent done yet, but when I had my 4 knee surgery's and 2 replacements, they took a marker and put no on the knee to not cut. I have a pic of it showing yes and no.
Thank you for sharing - I have CES - was diagnosed 11 years ago - the pain I experience is debilitating and my life is certainly affected at this given time, it is causing me to lose my breath (cannot breathe regularly due to panting and out of breath from trying to get from point A to point B, trouble getting up, getting out of car, bed, etc.- nevermind, walking fast or exercising) - I am looking forward to having this done. Also, thank you for being one of the test guinea pigs :) - I think this is relatively new when you had done (could be wrong) - It is 2021 now, but when you had it done in 2015, still considered new'ish maybe? Thanks for being informative and addressing all the questions I have. I hope you are continuing to feel the benefits. :) Take care, Sarah!
Please post a follow up about this. My wife's doctor gave us a DVD about it, but I'm wanting to learn more from someone that has gone through it. We are facing possible back surgery and don't really want to go down that road with the 50/50 chance of improvement the Dr. said she may have. This looks like it might be a good alternative, even if it only works for a few years or so. She has a very similar diagnosis, so I was hoping to see your next video :) Thank you!
I will post a follow up video in a few days. Long story short. My leads moved. I need another surgery. The revision will be the same surgery but this time they are implanting paddles (not leads). Its scheduled for 3/29. There is a REALLY good group on Facebook for people going through this. Search "spinal cord stimulator" and it will come up. Lots of success stories from many people.
I just found out about this device and am going to find out more. I am a VET and really do not want the VA to do this. Here in NJ there is a great hospital. I am going to try to have it done there. Anyone know if this helps with cervical stenosis? I have had three neck surgeries and have a fuse, and artificial disk. Thanks in advance
YES you can turn the stimulator off completely. I had the operation 4 weeks ago, but I am waiting for the swelling to calm to use it. CRPS is far more known in the US than Australia, I have had it for 24 years. I have it in the worst place possible in my left groin, so it burn like hell in my private area. GREETINGS FROM DOWN UNDER
Joshua Whittle Greeting from Australia my new friend. My God YES IT DID. I was in REAL trouble mentally phsically. In hospital I told my pain doctor in a climate controled room. Its a 70-90 % reduction in pain. Out side in the eliments 50-70 %. Depends on the day. Please skype me I can talk righr now if you like. I am in Melbourne Australia my skype is ivica.manovic1 I will explain in fine detail in private no problem. If your getting the Spinal cord Stimular your one of lucky people just like me.As it costs $48.000 as thata US, so convert the dollar, you get the idea For me a true life saver. Please skype me in 15 minutes I am on my computer Now. GOD BLESS FRIEND
I deal with a lot of pain in my back and legs. I have a widening and spinal fluid in my lower back and I’m unable to walk. I have a dr appointment at a pain clinic in a few days and I was wondering if a stimulater would work I was wondering what were your symptoms to have that put in? I don’t know what to do I been to several Drs and They do surgery on me to help my condition.
Beatriz Valdez I get 40% relief but I have been trying to get a hold of my rep for more programing. My last programing session was exactly 12 months ago so I would like to try more programing. I'm having a hard time getting a hold of my Medtronics rep. 🙁
Are u only allowed to change your programming after a certain amount of time?? The tech I have was really good. She gives her personal number to all 200+ of her patients & will squeeze u into her schedule to see you the same day. In about a 3 month time frame, i changed my programs about 6 to 7 times.
I'm from modesto and my mom is on her trial right now I have a few questions on ur experience if u can spare your time. does the trail feel different from the real implant ?
She will go get the trial removed on thursday but since last week is still sore from the trail and it seems to not in the right spot. Who was ur Dr. From modesto ? We went to Manteca with Dr. Elahi.
is this the last thing your doctor tried in term of pain management goes? My mom wanted to try other thing if there is any. she couldn't get over the fact that there will be a battery pact inside her body and wire. I personally think it is fine but I wanna hear from your personal experience how do you like it?
+Will H I tired years of other painful procedures. This was the last thing. Im happy with it. It helps with 50% of the pain. I still take pain meds but I feel a lot better and can sleep at night. I actually had 2 implants as the first didn't work but Im still thankful.
Leaning is a big no no. No bending, lifting, twisting, reaching whatsoever. She's looking at some bad complications by leaning, it can cause lead displacement or breakage. I noticed there is no follow up story. Pleasd scroll and read mine. Do NOT do this surgery, it's false hope with a terrible ending
My MedTronics SCS is scheduled for May 13 2019. I’ve been living with chronic back pain, getting worse since 2014. My entire life has been turned upside down and I have so many physical limitations, I feel like those I’ve seen in nursing homes. May 13th can’t come quick enough. Wish me luck 🍀
I was hit by a drunk and high truck driver, got my implant yesterday, the healing pain sucks bad bc they didn't admit me for pain management, but im very excited to see how much pain relief I got with the trial
Thank you for sharing your experience with the unit. I wish you the best & hopefully it really works for you.

My insurance declined this stating that they don’t think it has enough backing behind it! I am going to appeal it!
Don't!!
Listen to your insurance. There's reasons, please read my story. It's the truth. I'm laying in bed now begging you to listen to them ❤
the implant is thousand times better then the trial

So glad to hear your review! So many negative things. I’m getting it soon. Did you get rechargeable battery or regular battery.

VERY same here. I think the trial is one to sell us another one believing it will be the same.....NO! I'm going to have it removed
Wow your care compared to mine at Kaiser is night & day! I was sent home after two hours & dealing w recovering, withdrawal alone!I HATE KAISER

How did it go?
Me too- I just waiting!!
I got a Boston scientific one nov 15th and its life changing!
Why you couldn't take ibuprofen after surgery?
I'm on day 1 of the stimulator by (Medtronic)
I thought it was going to be by Boston Scientific but no.

thank you for a useful video. Can you turn the stimulator completely off at times if you have no pain?

Theaslonly Theaslonly probably fake profile with the awful grammar.
Why are you continually leaning on the counter? I would be more convinced if you showed that you could stand up straight.
