"100 colors butterflies" for LANCÔME by emmanuelle moureaux

The “Art of Absolue” Exhibition under the theme of "Perpetual, Beyond Time", was held in Shanghai to showcase the "Absolue" collection of the world’s leading luxury beauty brand LANCÔME.
For this exhibition, Emmanuelle unveiled a new installation to express the philosophy of the brand and its collection. This immersive installation is an abstract representation of beauty and eternity. Inspired by the symbolic meaning of butterflies, the room is filled with butterflies in flight, made of a simplified form of specially designed butterflies that gather, dance, flap wings, and soar high into the sky.
The installation is composed of a colorful circular volume in the center of the room, encircled by a white circular layer, made of approximately 40,000 butterflies in total. When entering the room, people are enveloped by the membrane of white butterflies that forms a path around the colorful circular volume. Walking along the gently curving path, visitors are naturally led to the center of the room, and discover that they have entered inside the core of the colorful installation, an immersive world of butterflies in 100 colors that continues to soar up more than 10 meters high.
Stepping into this space will be an immersive and magical experience, full of emotions, sensations, a joyful and a meditative moment.

"100 colors" is an installation series began in 2013, which forms space using 100 shades of colors. Emmanuelle Moureaux wishes to give emotions through colors as she felt from seeing overflowing colors in Tokyo when she first visited in 1995. Colors are explored in various forms depending on the environment, to maximize the beauty of colors. 100 colors entering the body with a glance triggers a physical response to engage with the sensation of colors. The installation series will continue to travel around the world.
