The Lufthansa Experience: Boeing 787-9 Economy from Detroit to Frankfurt

- Hey guys! Today I'm reviewing Lufthansa's economy product on their 787-9. Lufthansa, like many airlines, is in a phase of modernization with their fleet- older A340s and Boeing 747s are on their way out; newer A350s and Boeing 787s are in their way in. In this review, I will show you Lufthansa's newest economy product, found on their Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. The airline is expanding their fleet rapidly with these birds- eventually 39 in total will be serving their global network. In the summer of 2023, Lufthansa was serving Detroit exclusively with 787s, but it looks like they have changed this to A330s/340s now. Still, I believe you will find this video as an accurate portrayal of what this flight would be like if you took it. Enjoy!

Doing this in July, real anxious as my first trip overseas, this made me feel a bit better thank you!
Glad to hear! Enjoy the moment and it'll be one of the highlights of your summer.
Good video. Happy belated Christmas
Same to you!
I just went on a Lufthansa, nobody was sitting next to me so I got to lay down!
Awesome! That always makes long flights so much easier, haha.
Great video. How was the baggage weight? Were they strict? How was the customer service. Were they checking in carry on bags for free
Check in baggage was weighed, but carry ons got a pass as long as they didn't appear visibly oversized. I wouldn't rely on them to check carry ons for free, I've rarely seen this with Lufthansa, especially if you fly on a widebody plane that has enough room in the cabin to hold everything (like the 787). Customer service was alright, I can't say I've had any problems with Lufthansa ground agents in the past. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Hi there! I’m glad I stumbled across your video because I will be flying with Lufthansa heading to Germany from Detroit. I have a layover in Frankfurt.
I only have ever been in the McNamara terminal (I usually fly Delta). I had a quick question for you if you don’t mind me asking. Does Lufthansa have a self check-in type of machine in the Evans terminal? A small machine that usually let’s you print out your own tickets? I have never flown Lufthansa before. I ask because I know Delta sometimes does at certain airports and I’d rather not wait in the long check in lines for both of my bags that can fit with me on the plane.
Great video! Glad to know some of these things before I go! 😄
Hey, happy to hear you got some useful information from my video! This is a great question as check in lines can get very long for Europe-bound flights.
Yes, Evans does have these machines. But, just in case it's not working, it is always a good idea to check in online (available 24 hours before the departure time) and Lufthansa will send you a digital boarding pass that can be used instead of a physical one. You could also print a physical one at home after doing that.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
@@JourneyingwithJosiah Okay! This is good to know!! Thank you! Yes, I always check in 24 hours before. That makes me feel much better! Thank you again!
Hey do you know the amount of meals for different flight duration threshold? Are the pillows /blankets / earphones clean? Can you keep the earphones? Can you bring metal objects (razors for shaving) in your carry on? Sorry for bombarding you with questions
No worries! Meals are tough to predict because they vary from flight to flight, but generally speaking for flights to/from North American and Europe Lufthansa provides one hot meal after takeoff and a smaller snack before landing (like on this flight). You can always call them to make sure. Yes, all amenities provided were clean and have been for all my Lufthansa flights. I'd check with the TSA on razors: www.tsa.gov/blog/2018/08/07/top-five-items-people-ask-about-razors-batteries-makeup-shampoo-deodorant#:~:text=Safety%20Razors%3A%20Because%20the%20razor,same%20applies%20for%20straight%20razors. Let me know if you have any other questions, happy to help!
