Kalgoorlie was built on gold, even the streets were once paved in Gold. Journey with us as we arrive back to Western Oz with Kids and Grandkids in tow and check the amazing history of this city of Gold.
Including the only legal 2 Up game in WA and the characters that play all conducted in a rickety corrugated shed.
We fossick for some chrysoprase and check out the abandoned nickel mines.
City Bus converted from the old trams takes us for a tour around the place including The Super Pit, Chunkys' wood works and Charolotte hill, where we learn about the towns history and the characters who helped develop the city

We watched and learnt a fair bit of the history of Kalgoorlie whilst there including your great uncle Patrick.
It is an amazing story, one that many who are interested in the area should consider researching.

Hannan Street is named after Paddy Hannan, however Kalgoorlie is named after the Aboriginal word galgurli, or karlkurla, meaning “silky pear" which is a plant native to the area.
