Ooohh I love these! Brilliant! Lately I've been binding teeny pocket notebooks pretty much as a form of self-soothing. So cathartic. The next time we go to art supply shop I'm going to pick up some elastic cord for DIY travellers notebook cover - so I can keep binding. 😂 Bahaha
I really love book binding, there's something about it when you nail it that is SO satisfying. Before these two leather covers I was actually making my own covers out of cork fabric, super easy and they look great! They were basically exactly the same as the smaller cover in this video, but in cork, and of course all the fit and finishes were the same, with the elastic closure and bookmark. Highly recommend! The only issue with cork or another material vs. leather is if you want to do the vertical insert elastics you'll need to reinforce the cork a bit so the elastic doesn't distort it. Of course making the traditional traveler's covers out of real leather isn't difficult, no sewing, just punch a few holes and you're done. I prefer the folio style over the traveler's insert style so it's not an issue for me.
@@SarahBaileyArts I'm taking notes! The place we go to is a mom and pop shop, selling art supplies and craft supplies and alllll sorts of goodies. I'm sure they'll have a couple options. I'll have to take a peek! Expect questions later 😂
Hello! I'm not really making videos at the moment, but I'll think about it. I do have a general overview in my video Use Whatcha Got Episode 3 but I don't really go into detail about the stitch style in that one. I've definitely improved the technique significantly since then. Thanks for the request!
You have achieved the mythical "planner peace," congratulations! Your collages are satisfying, I understand why you like to do them. ❤ (Out of curiosity, what ink is that maroon one in your lighter middle journal?)
I know, the funny part is I didn't realize I'd reached it for at least a few weeks, and suddenly I was like hey, this is working, I like this! Hm if it was normal writing from a fountain pen it's probably either diamine strawberry fields (just a standard red) or diamine ancient copper (a reddy brown). I don't have any actual maroon ink in these, I think, but I can recommend some: diamine oxblood or noodler's nikita come to mind.
This was wonderful to watch. I love how you upcycled the unused hobonichi pages. That’s such a good idea 🌼

@@GingahSnapsArt I'm happy to help!
Your recycled Hobonichi journal is amazing! Would you consider doing a video about how you bind a book like that?

It might've been the Diamine, unless it was just the camera altering the color. It looked like a pretty rich earthy red. 😀
@@j.s.elliot7121 yeah probably ancient copper then. It's a lovely color!
