Ive been using Fisher space pens for over 20 years. Never any problems. I've picked up the telescopic model around 3 years ago and had to replace the cartridge around a year ago. MAN, that cartridge trying to replace it was almost like trying to pull out a tooth. I had to use pliers to pull it out, but it came out and what I did was just put a little dab of vasoline on the end of the new one it so it doesn't freeze up when I have to replace it again.

I like this pen because it is very unique looking. And love the Fisher Space Pen in general.

Lol, I didn't know it 'clicks'. I thought my pen was defective because it left a little 'tip' of the refill out when I push it in. Thanks for the much needed instruction. I wish the pen came with this instruction instead of the usual marketing material. Great pen though.

FYI ink refills are 40PSI and a Thermo Dynamic concentrated ink. Break one :) it’s like a erasable pen without the eraser. Fascinating ink! Which is composed of 70% oil, 10% pigment and 20% thickener

Yep, the only downside is we sometimes get a little blob of ink on the paper. Small price to pay for a pen that never fails to work!

I wish the refills wrote more smooth. I actually find the writing experience of a basic Bic Cristal ballpoint pen to be superior in both writing experience and ink smoothness. Fisher refills always skip and blob up for me. And I don't plan on using it in outer space anytime soon. I do love the Fisher pen bodies though.

Mine write well most of the time. The key benefit is they always write and they don't dry up.

No pocket clip? That would be a deal breaker for me. Also, a pocket clip will keep the pen from rolling off my desk.

I've seen these with clips, but unfortunately I think the pen doesn't come with one. You may have to order a clip by itself. When I bought my fisher bullet space pen it, I had order a clip separately.

Several Fisher pens are actually available in two separate "models", meaning they each have their own model number. In the case of the telescoping pen like in this video, it does actually come in two distinct models, and not just with or without a pocket clip. The other telescoping pen is ASGP - ALAN SHEPARD TELESCOPING SPACE PEN. It comes with a tiny golf ball at the end of the pen opposite the writing end. The ball seems like it would allow the user more purchase when extending the pen to full size. The other main difference between the two telescoping pens, is the grip section on the writing end. The TLP - TELESCOPING SPACE PEN has a wider spacing of the rings, while the ASGP - ALAN SHEPARD TELESCOPING SPACE PEN has many more tightly spaced rings, making it a lot more grippable. The pricing as of November 2020, is $42 for the regular model, and $46 for the Alan Shepard golf model.

Michael Nix. Very interesting. How did you find out about this? I would like to write Fisher pen about this. Thank you for this information. Have a happy and safe holiday.

Would have been nice to lave compared the size of the bullet to the telescopic one on the table. No one seems to be able to measure that diameter of the telescoping and post it. It looks bulky to the brief moment that we saw the original bullet.

Would it be possible to drill a small hole through the end of the telescoping pen to attach a lanyard?

Is it possible to open/pull one handed?

CraigShipp.com thanks for the reply, I’m wanting to get my first fisher space pen but I wanted to make sure I could engage one handed. I might just get one of the regular no cap pens because I’m constantly having to use the pen one handed.

@@HeWearsGlasses If you're only going to get one pen I would get the original Space Pen. It's super well made.
