    I think your speaker idea is an excellent suggestion for beginners. I remember when I started in electronics with a Radio Shack 75 in 1 kit, the project that had oscillators connected to the speaker were my favourites.

    Good very helpful. What software are you using to monitor the frequency please. Blowed if I can find out watching the video several times and the pop-up box in the top left of the screen doesn't give any clues but says the USB is disconnected!! Thanks in anticipation.

    Hi. Thanks for making this useful and informative video. My kits just arrived today.
    What data logging software are you using when you measured the resistors at 3:52?

      Thanks and glad you found it useful... I'm using a UNI-T UT81B for measurements.

      a Uni-T UT61 E will also do, with the included Uni-T software and serial/USB cable.

    the white cross section on the pcb indicates negative leg of the electrolytic, you have both caps in wrongly... how does this work?
    expect them to die or pop

    Hello, how do I use the xr2206 circuit to manufacture a metal detector or gold radar?

  • @qurn

    mine only produces a single pop, like every second. Changing the jumpers doesn't do anything. Ive checked ans the IC is installed the correct way, Im just not getting any sound.

    Are you connecting the speaker via an amp? Would you know if there is a way to make a small battery powered unit with an amp and passive speaker so it's small and portable?

    • @b1cates
      @b1cates  2 года назад

      Connected directly to a passive speaker, however; you could use a cheap powered speaker (the type you would use for a phone) and connect via the headphone jack.

      @@b1cates thank you for replying. I must be doing something wrong - I connected several buzzers and then via mono Jack to an active speaker and nothing! There is definitely output - multimeter shows voltage variations, and there are clicks when I move the amplitude knob but no sound. I thought it needs an amp?

    • @b1cates
      @b1cates  2 года назад +1

      @@jakubrokita2261 That's odd because if you can hear the tones using a passive speaker amplifying the output shouldn't impact. You have probably tried this... but If you have a standalone amp, trouble shoot by connecting xr2206 direct to speaker - if it works connect to speaker via the amp. Good luck

      Hi, I'm sorry for troubling you, I tried several small buzzers and a mono 3.5 to a consumer portable speaker and zilch! I want to buy a passive speaker but don't know what resistance is adequate. Could you please advise?

    • @b1cates
      @b1cates  2 года назад +1

      @@jakubrokita2261 I'm used an 8 ohm speaker in the video but guess you could also use a 4 ohm car speaker - Volume is audible but only at close proximity. Hope that helps?

    I'm at the point that I should be using something more stable. The XR2206 in an obsolete chip, so what's out there is probably fake, and the circuits for the kits are problematic. We as builders need a new thing. Perhaps a 555 with some transistors to get a solid Triangle and Sine wave suitable for testing common emitter amp's or any other signal amp. I really tried with these cheapo's but it's frustrating. Good Video.
