    Go Rishi. I haven't had much confidence or belief in the current PM until today.
    Finally: a political leader who has chosen to put us before the virtue signalling wef and eu. This will make the enforced switch to what has, hilariously, been called Net Zero more realistic and sensible, and far more manageable for the Working Underclass.

      Because they've realised - despite mainstream media's attempts to brainwash - the comparatively silent majority don't want the "green" changes to happen so quickly. Especially as the UK contributes only 1% to global warming. Slowing things down a bit won't make much difference when the biggest polluters continue polluting. In such circumstances - and when we are going through tough economic times - insisting on the British people making expensive changes would surely be stupid... both economically, factually... and politically.

    Election winning move. Silent majority agree with this. Europe moved the goalposts to 2035 on the criteria for new cars so what’s the big deal? Otherwise there is a 5 year gap of manufacturers not able to sell to the Uk. Why does a 5 year reset of the dial cause such concern.

    Here is an alternative reason why Sunak might be making this announcement. If there was a big increase in electric vehicles and heat pumps the local distribution and national transmission grid would not cope. More importantly generating capacity would not be sufficient.
    All the measures changed today, help reduce potential future growth in demand for a few years. There is nothing being scrapped here.

    People are wising up yo the NZ propaganda. They are actually drilling less, because they are getting less profit for every unit they take out. There will come a time when it's not viable for oil companies to drill for oil. That's why they are trying to make maximum profit now, hence prices not going back down to what they were. Oil isn't the problem, the fact that we won't be able to get it without exorbitant prices is the problem. We need something to replace it, but not because of CO2.

    Last month it was new oil and gas licenses, this month rowing back on vehicle pledges against the will of the automotive industry... how can he say with a straight face we are still on track for 2050 net 0.
    He has yet to deliver on anything at all, even HS2 is now not reaching either end it was supposed to be connecting. Why on Earth would anyone believe he's capable of long term planning for the next 3 decades...
    "I believe there is huge public support for this move." There's a reason he's called out of touch.

    • @monged4life442
      @monged4life442 Год назад +1

      @@besenzon1 the whole point of a green energy transition is it's supposed to be subsidised so it is affordable for everyone. There was a scheme around under Boris (now cancelled) that my in laws are using to get government funded solar panels and heat pump fitted on their place, but there should be far more of that.
      That the government have chosen to do so little to support people's transition and instead pour more money into fossil fuels is why it's difficult for middle earners.
