Go Rishi. I haven't had much confidence or belief in the current PM until today. Finally: a political leader who has chosen to put us before the virtue signalling wef and eu. This will make the enforced switch to what has, hilariously, been called Net Zero more realistic and sensible, and far more manageable for the Working Underclass.
There is an ambulance, sorry air ambulance coming for Sunak. He seems to have lost his marbles. At first there were pledges after pledges and now he is cancelling policies never existed!
Because they've realised - despite mainstream media's attempts to brainwash - the comparatively silent majority don't want the "green" changes to happen so quickly. Especially as the UK contributes only 1% to global warming. Slowing things down a bit won't make much difference when the biggest polluters continue polluting. In such circumstances - and when we are going through tough economic times - insisting on the British people making expensive changes would surely be stupid... both economically, factually... and politically.
Election winning move. Silent majority agree with this. Europe moved the goalposts to 2035 on the criteria for new cars so what’s the big deal? Otherwise there is a 5 year gap of manufacturers not able to sell to the Uk. Why does a 5 year reset of the dial cause such concern.
FINALLY! if this isn't another weak promise this is the change we needed. This is the speech we'll look back at to say " finally government connected to the people"
He cant acheieve this so is just acting like he is doing it in our interests. Its just another thing they've promised to do and realized they cant. Whether people agree with this or not, its still another lie.
I misjudged Rishi. He can distort facts and tell downright lies as well as his predecessors. Give us an election. The nett zero we really want is zero Conservative MPs.
Scrapping things that were not part of their manifesto including taxes on eating meat, proposed taxes on flying and seven bins for sorting out different rubbish, so filled out his speech with lies.
Here is an alternative reason why Sunak might be making this announcement. If there was a big increase in electric vehicles and heat pumps the local distribution and national transmission grid would not cope. More importantly generating capacity would not be sufficient. All the measures changed today, help reduce potential future growth in demand for a few years. There is nothing being scrapped here.
People are wising up yo the NZ propaganda. They are actually drilling less, because they are getting less profit for every unit they take out. There will come a time when it's not viable for oil companies to drill for oil. That's why they are trying to make maximum profit now, hence prices not going back down to what they were. Oil isn't the problem, the fact that we won't be able to get it without exorbitant prices is the problem. We need something to replace it, but not because of CO2.
Last month it was new oil and gas licenses, this month rowing back on vehicle pledges against the will of the automotive industry... how can he say with a straight face we are still on track for 2050 net 0. He has yet to deliver on anything at all, even HS2 is now not reaching either end it was supposed to be connecting. Why on Earth would anyone believe he's capable of long term planning for the next 3 decades... "I believe there is huge public support for this move." There's a reason he's called out of touch.
@@besenzon1 the whole point of a green energy transition is it's supposed to be subsidised so it is affordable for everyone. There was a scheme around under Boris (now cancelled) that my in laws are using to get government funded solar panels and heat pump fitted on their place, but there should be far more of that. That the government have chosen to do so little to support people's transition and instead pour more money into fossil fuels is why it's difficult for middle earners.

Ditch this stupid net zero nonsense completely
At last the penny has dropped on the cost to Joe Public of the ridiculous time scale which the government had set itself.
2030 for electric cars is a joke there’s no infrastructure let’s get real…well done Rishi
Just build the infrastructure... Oh no.. This bunch of incompetents only build their bank balances.
I totally agree with this discussion. We were just not ready. At least these new time scales are more realistic and more achievable.
Great news ,now start more drilling for oil and gas
Meanwhile, the appalling Energy bill has been passed through parliament.
Can it be true that Net Zero and climate change are starting to be seen for what they really are?
Maybe this will be the first economic policy that the right can get right 🤔
Bravo 👏 that’s real leadership. For the first time I managed to listen the whole speech feeling supported.
Really REALLY suprised common sense actually won the day for once instead of imposing ridiculous laws on us that make us worse off with no benefit.
He wants your vote, So that he can be re-elected and then do a 180* and go back on what he said
There is an ambulance, sorry air ambulance coming for Sunak. He seems to have lost his marbles. At first there were pledges after pledges and now he is cancelling policies never existed!
Why the sudden common sense! What are they up to?
Sunak is struggling for votes.

Sunak, the smiling confidence trickster.
Brilliant

Legend..
I’m gonna put this on before bedtime ……..it’s so relaxing ! 😅
🙂

That's how I see it. He's the first in the developed West to make a stance.
Protesters: "STOP OIL, GO GREEN"
Government: "how about nah, delay that"
I think the stunted applause summs it up
Respect

The only green policies he Nose is the stuff that he smokes
Source??
Good news for a hypocratic state
How can people support someone whos own policies have left them all skint

Something is hidden here :D wait for reveal
But what alternative party do we have, Labour is so woke nowadays it would be worse than the pocket lining tories

That's silly. He's saying UK isn't ready. And how does cheaper energy now imply decreased growth...
More lip serve

He should be doing everything he can to ween us off oil and gas. He hasn't a clue. Does he wish for us to be ever at the mercy of energy producers
Really at what personal cost. Your the one out of touch Hope he rolls back even more middle earners can’t afford this net zero madness!!

Yes! The stupid green agenda is delayed. Sunak just got my vote.
