I don't wear makeup, so I don't have personal experience, but I'm pretty sure makeup wipes are supposed to be used as the first step in a double cleanse, making them similar to micellar water and cotton pads. I think they're overly hated and probably just not used correctly. But an oil-based cleanser will probably be a more thorough first cleanse for heavy makeup. (Actually, coconut oil could be used as a makeup remover, since you are supposed to wash it off anyway!)
Let's not demonize chemical sunscreens though. There are TONS of great formulas out on the market. And "clean skincare" is a greenwashing term that has no actual standard.

I cannot support make wipes considering the amount of trash they create plus how harsh they are on the skin.
I totally agree with the second part of what you said though ☺️

Oil cleanser is alot better than makeup wipes as they drive dirt, oil etc. further into the skin.

I have used gentle cleanser to remove my makeup for 30 years and I ACTUALLY splash water on my face. I NEVER get breakouts. Water is the universal solvent. Makeup wipes weren’t made to remove makeup, they were made to sell you makeup wipes! Soap and water is the best way to clean the face.

I'm glad to see someone point out the disadvantages of (pure) coconut oil on the face. As someone with black skin, coconut oil (along with the likes of cocoa and shea butter) is always promoted as a go-to for my type of skin because it's 'natural' and apparently moisturising. However, it does the opposite for me: regardless of the body part, my skin dries out like nothing else, is tight, and breaks out because as Dr Youn mentions, it's comodogenic. I find it's better as a hair moisturiser.

I don’t like it on my hair because it makes my hair oily and gross, but I love using it to soothe itchy scalp.

I use makeup wipes but load them with micellar water first, never alone. Is that ok?

Thank you for covering coconut oil!! It's not good for Caucasian hair either and it can actually fry it if you use heat or live in a hot climate. The molecules are too big to penetrate the hair follicle so it sits on top AND has a low boiling point.

What is a good choice for a chafed nose when you are sick and have tissue rub?

Gel Neosporin with pain reliever would be my recommendation. I have horrific cuticles - I apply neosporin like crazy and it heals them. It’s also good for inside your nose if it’s dry like in winter - I get bloody boogers bc of the dryness - some neosporin in the nasal passages - heals it right up

Whenever i have a cold and feel like I’ll be wiping my nose a lot, I apply Vaseline around it to prevent it from feeling raw after all the tissue action. 😅

HikaruRain - it's good to buy tissue with aloe infused in them.
There's nothing like a good old farmers blow either 🤧

I second the tissues infused with aloe Vera! They are incredibly effective at preventing the problem, especially with a little lotion.
