Thanks for your video. I just changed out a pair of fog lamps in under an hour and I am old. I knew what i was up against before I started thanks to your instructions. I used a 10mm racheting wrench. Thanks 👍.
You saved me a hell of a lot of grief by teling us what tool to use. It was still very difficult for me to maneuver to be able to lossen the screws, but it would've been far more difficult without your advice. Thanks!!
Woo hoo! Awesome!
Thanks for the tip on a short ratchet and short 10 mm socket, my truck is a 2000’ Silverado 2500 4x4 and hopefully the extra clearance will help on my install!
Just watched 11-14-19. Only need to replace bulbs but your video very helpful. Thanks
Thanks, great instructional video. BTW our Suburban has 280,000 miles only major problem has been a coolant leak from the heater core under the dash which is now making the front carpet wet (especially the passenger side). We will replace both the heater core and AC core at the same time because the dash removal is a pain in the butt. Thanks again. Kevin O'Connor
Wow!
I wish more people were like you sharing everything you did because it really helps. Thank you for this video it was great 👍👍💯
That’s great to hear! Thanks for the feedback.
@@JosephChavez you bet
That helped me not take it to a dealer I did it myself thanks to your video. 👌
Good job. Very informative and easy to understand! I'm going to try to install my fog lights , thanks so much!
Glad I was able to help. Pretty easy job.
thanks for the step by step and as well as the visual on what to look for once your under breath the truck
Thanks man I'm gonna change mines on my 04 Tahoe this weekend, I also go my set from amazon
good to see you back !
Thanks Travis!
Thanks for getting straight to it and saying I the size I needed. 10mm.
Thanks for the info. I have am 2002 Tahoe and will attempt to replace this unit.
I would suggest all look really close at how the unit is to be attached. The plastic goes on top and then utilize the screws. Time was about 5 minutes once I pulled my head out and looked at the other side.
Just getting ready to do the same job..Thnx for the simple right to it video
enjoy it Joe miss c u Jack on jack on the go have fun and be safe.
Allen R Thanks man! I miss doing videos with Jack too. Oh well. I had fun while it lasted!
Thank you . Just ordered some hope to get them done this weekend. Thanks again for the info 👍🏼😉
Lisa Carden excellent!
Thanks Joe! about to replace a set on my 2006 and son's mom's 2004 Tahoe's
Did the 2006 require the 10 mm as well?
Thank you. I ended up ordering the same lights you got from Amazon $33 before tax. I have a 2002 Tahoe and the fog lights came from the previous owner without the clear plastic, I thought that was by design just to find out they they're broken after one new bulb went out in about a month.
Thanks it's so cold out right now it's November in Canada at that . I was going to attempt this today because I thought it would be super easy . Looks like a pain too cold out right now for that . Thanks for the tips I'll remember that in the spring or if I get brave later.
It's not a hard job, but yeah, if you don't have a jack and have to lay on the ground, better to wait for some warmer weather!
Great video! Thanks Joe
Great! Glad you liked it.
Good to know....
Not to long and sets a good expectation. Nice job on the product information from Amazon.
+Scott Boddy Thanks for the feedback, Scott!
Thanks buddy your video helps a lot!
Thanks for posting this!
Hey bro good to see you again! I was kind of surprised to see you doing a DIY vid! That was cool! Peace brother!
Thanks! I've done a couple DYI. I'd like to do more since I've watched so many on RUclips and they've saved me hundreds of dollars.
Joseph Chavez Oh yea, great educational vids here!
2006 Cadillac Escalade EXT fog light remove and replace. Turn the wheel to Left to replace the Drivers light and Right to replace Passenger fog lamp. Definitely use a pillow. THE 2006 ESCALADE REQUIRES A 7mm SOCKET. When loosening the three 7mm screws, use the socket wrench to break the screw loose, then remove the ratchet and twist the socket reducer and socket by hand. Don't be fooled by turning the washer 100 times before I realized that the screw wasn't turning! The first fog light took about 40 minutes, the second about 30 minutes. Jack in Meridian, ID
I was able to follow the start of this video and complete the task with the use of my one arm. Granted two hands would make this task much easier
Thank you very informative.
Thanks for the tips. Really helpful.
Great video.
The short ratchet is known as a 1/4” drive ratchet (and suitable socket )
Be sure to use the metal Rod and adjusting knob to set the correct beam height
Put your truck about 6 feet from your garage door , turn fog light on and adjust the new one to match the other .
When replacing both because the lens fell out , replace the non working one , adjust to the working one , then replace and adjust the other to match the first one .
Great tips! Thank you!
Great video! Thanks man
they need to make a quality set of these FL 's all the available ones suuuck major a**!
luis martinez yeah I hear you. The ones I put on in this video are still working, though.
There’s one I’m looking at on Amazon that looks cool but I’m not too sure if they are any good or not. They have what looks like a projector in the center and then two little led lights on either side. The issue is it is made to fit these chevys and gmcs but it one has an adjuster for up and down, not side to side... not sure if that even matters though. And the reviews are spotty so it’s hard to tell if these are good or worthless.
thanks very done 5 Star Plus
Nice video I will def be switching mine out mine look like 💩 and are busted up as well from previous owner
*Same thing as on my 06 escalade except the bolt is a 7mm instead of a 10*
would this process be the same and work for the yukon
Is it a “thing” with Tahoe and Yukon’s where the front glass just falls off the fog lamps? Mine is missing both! Lol
Probably the glue wears off or gets weak with the heat. I don’t recall of my originals did that but the new ones I put in on this video are still working after all this time.
@@JosephChavez yeah I don’t even know when mine came off lol I just noticed one day that one was gone, then I looked at the other one and it was missing too! Lol
good vid thanks
I know its an old post but, if you live in the north and the fasteners are rusted and wont come out; you can undo the adjuster wingnut and remove hinge pins while leaving 10 mil screws alone.
Have a Chevy Tahoe or Suburban with bad fog lamps? I have just the video for you!
good job
Joe it's a whole lot easier if you drive up on ramps. I did mine it took 10 minutes each. Also the adjustment for the are ridiculous. If you don't loosen the 2 screws on the bracket they won't move. Did you adjust yours?
Yeah ramps would have been great. I didn’t have any and I was too lazy to go and borrow my dad’s. LOL. I didn’t do any adjustments. Just mounted them as they came.
Thank you
thanks bud!
"when you work on your car get a comfy pillow."
Great video but it would have been better if you show how you took apart the fog lights and how you put the new ones back on and what kind of screws it has. Other than that it’s a good video
You didn't show the installation.
Straight forward
i whant oil for my tahoe 2002 ??
A 10mm speed wrench works even better
What did the screws look like??????
hey Joe i recommend you lift your Tahoe, be easier to get under it
Dude, he'd be better off just getting a set of sturdy liftramps which he rolls his front tires on top of. I can't imagine it being fun to climb a lifted truck everytime you gotta check the oil or work on the engine.
thanks happy
I got the same ones but I got the smoked ones that's crazy and hell yeah amazon
Hey how are those fog lights holding up I've read reviews and a lot of them complain about moisture getting in one lamp or the other and also being real flimsy
Why didn't you show us what it looked like when it was done???
He didn't really show taking them off or putting the new one's on either. Not sure the point of the video.
I would have shown the finished product.
Do you plan on ever visiting jack
Hey Joseph, I'm thinking about buying an 03' Chevy Tahoe 1500 with 182,000 miles on it. With this many miles is there anything I should worry about this truck? Are there any know issues affecting this models? Thanks for the advice.
+Evil Dude Wow. 182k. Ours has around 130k. Honestly, our Tahoe has given us years of faithful service, but it's showing it's age. Right now the biggest things we have to fix are: 1) it's using coolant. Not sure if the water pump is leaking or if it's something more serious. But I have to put a gallon of coolant in every several months. I don't smell coolant necessarily when it's hot. I hear this is a sign that the pump is leaking and dripping on a hot engine and that's why you don't see it on the ground but you'd smell it. 2) it has started to make a clicking noise underneath when it's in drive and you accelerate. I don't hear it when I'm just cruising, only at acceleration. Not sure what that is but my mechanic says it could be the drive shaft or some other bearing related to the drive train. That's next on the agenda. What I have done recently besides the fog lamps are: replacing the oil pressure sending switch (had the mechanic do it as it's a nightmare to reach behind the block) and fuel pressure sending switch (super easy and quick job). We did replace the plugs at 100k. About 10 years ago we had an rear axel seal that had to be replaced. Other than that, nothing super major. Like most cars, it's all in the maintenance of it. Oh: a lot of the dashboard lighting is out (radio buttons, etc.). Sometimes our rear speakers (we got the Bose option at time of purchase) buzz and make a screeching sound that rises with the engine RPMs. Not all the time. Not sure what's causing it. I also need to switch out the daytime driving lamp sockets. One of them is completely fried: known issue as the bulbs they recommend get too hot.
+Joseph Chavez Thank so much for your reply. The truck in question looks really nice. The salesman mentioned it had only one owner which apparently did a lot of after marker changes to the radio and even installed a "double vision" dvd player for the rear passengers. Sadly the salesman cannot provide proof or record indicating as to whether the truck and the transmission were serviced. I'm thinking about test driving it and have mu mechanic do a complete check up.
Are there LED replacements for the daytime driving lamp? Yea I know
could google it, but maybe by now you have found some.
sgj4aj not sure. Been meaning to replace the sockets and blubs in mine because one of them is burned out. They sell them on Amazon for a reasonable price.
+Joseph Chavez i have a chevy tahoe with 222,000 miles in it and no problem but the fog lights they always get messed up lol
I have an ‘04 and my original fog lights are round.
Mine is circular on my 03 Tahoe.. must be a Z71 thing I guess
V6 Mustang Powwa ah. Yeah Z71 might have that styling difference.
The dealer wouldn't pass my truck's inspection with a broken fog lamps lens and they wanted too much to replace one compared to what I could spend to purchase 2 new lamp assemblies and do it myself, so in order to pass I told them to remove both of them and asked them to give me all the parts they removed. They somehow forgot to put the parts in the truck and when I told the rep and he went to look for them he could only find one (the broken one!) laying around. Problem is they also removed the mounting bolts too. I purchased two new assemblies but it doesn't come with the bolts so now I don't have anything to mount them to the truck. I see you mention that you used a 10mm socket, do you know what size and length the bolt was. I'm assuming it's just a basic bolt and hoping I can just go to a home store and get what I need, or maybe advanced auto, but not really sure exactly the material, length etc that was used. If you remember any info about them it would be helpful, thanks!
Did you ever find out the length and thread of the screws needed? It's been my delay for months. Haha
@Arthur, visit a junkyard and take the bolts of a junk truck. They're probably in the $5 neighborhood.
Just take the truck to a fastenal they will let you try a few different bolts until you figure out which one works
Why you didn’t show how they look like one install
U didn’t show end result
This guy looks like happy from iron man
Farzan Dean I’ll take that. LOL
Good video.. but you didn’t show the work to remove them .. only showed after you removed them .. over all good basic know how .. thanks dude
hector muniz crap. It’s been so long since I did the video I can’t believe I left that out. At the time I filmed it with my phone and didn’t have a stand so I guess that’s why. It wasn’t that tough but yeah, left out the most important step. Sorry man.
Joseph Chavez no problem changed out my fog lights on my GMC Yukon XL really easy .. by the way know anything about brake and abs like keep coming on ..
hector muniz sorry bro. Not sure about brakes or ABS. At this point, I take it to my mechanic.
No after pic ?? Bummer
E-Man Eddy it’s been a long time. I don’t remember why I left that out. However, my lamps are still working with no problems. Great product, FYI.
I recommend a diet and a walk 1 a wk
Thanks for showing the end result....... oh wait, you didn't.
I would recommend to go on a diet and exercise Joe
Ill bet you your going to get it done easier!
you need to work out!
Show idiots like me how you turn the fog lights on in the first place.
So, 11 months later....How are these lights holding up for you?
So far so good. Thing is it was so long that they were broken I forget to turn them on now! But they still work.
It would have been better if you would have shown how to do the job instead of just flapping your lips. No real information on what needs to be done. Thanks for the waste of time.
