    If he sang like this in the eurovision final, he would win, no doubt....

      But unfortunately, the stars didn’t align for him as he sounded off-pitch during his entire performance at the 2011 ESC held at Düsseldorf.

    @RenkCornelius
    I've seen him performing this song on many other shows and he sings the same way. I think in esc 2011 it was a stress problem, he was fidgeting around

    at 1:14 we Dutch people hear: 'Kom, poep in een gitaar ja'
    That means: 'Come on, shit in a guitar yeah!' :)

    With this performance you would have won the esc 2011. I never heard a better voice than This.never. Your voice performance in the esc final was not bad, but 2 classes lower than This one. So the question has to be asked, was this playback?

    Sorry but he didn't sing it live it's playback. He said so himself in an interview. He said the song is physically challenging and he wasn't ready to perform it live yet in that moment. Now he's performed it few time actually live too and done it superbly :)

  • @missfinlandia88

    @breizhcatalonia1993 No, but I'm a classical singer, been singing mostly in Italian and I understand corsican well too cos it's very much similar with Italian :)
    I don't know what you ment about the -giu thing sorry could you clarify?

  • @Tvjunkieful12
    @Tvjunkieful12 13 лет назад

    Only an idiot would deny that the song has qualities, and the singer both has the voice and presence to deliver it. But, unless you are female or gay, it probably will be kind of boring staring at his mouth move up and down for 3 minutes - especially taking into account how many boring stage performances there seem to be this year. But if he ends up winning, it wont be undeservedly. But very predictable, safe and boring. And it is supposed to be an entertaining tv-show, isn`t it?

  • @Tvjunkieful12
    @Tvjunkieful12 13 лет назад

    @Tvjunkieful12 As for the last part of your comment, I assure you I don`t have any problems/issues with neither gays nor women. The "unless you`re gay or female" phrase is.. I don`t know if sarcasm is the right word for it, so I`ll try to describe it instead. It is a way of enhancing the statement with humour - it is comparative, not degrading or spitefull. Fact: Women like men + fact: gays like men = looking a guy straight in the face for 3 mins is boring for all others. Pretty harmless.

  • @Tvjunkieful12
    @Tvjunkieful12 13 лет назад

    @BluebirdintheSky You are rude, aren`t you - and so full of cliches. Well, if you find it interesting watching people standing straight up and down performing music for 2+ hours, than I suggest you watch The Eurovision`s Competition for Young Musicians! Which is where Amaury Vassili should have been. And if you know just a little of classical music, you will get quite a few deju vu experiences listening to Sognu - starting with Ravel`s Bolero. Sognu is just a compilation of clas music excerpts.

  • @Tvjunkieful12
    @Tvjunkieful12 13 лет назад

    @777LeilaAngel777 First time I listened to this, I was blown away, I will openly admit. But the second time, I felt there was something very familiar with the intro - and soon after I recognized it from Ravel`s Bolero - than there where the Wiener Waltz bit, and Chariots of Fire bit, and the more I listened, the more musical deja vu moments I experienced. Untill I realized this wasn`t even a proper song, just a compilation of excerpts from classical music history - and felt cheated. 0 point.

  • @Tvjunkieful12
    @Tvjunkieful12 13 лет назад

    @Mrawesome43329 Sorry, but I cant agree with you. Neither the opinion, nor the language. Maybe I have a more diverse bunch of aquintances than you, but in my experience generallysations only are true cause people let them be. I wouldn`t be surprised if you have friends who like this song - but don`t dare say so. Or even know someone who is gay - but never will reveal it to you - if this comment and sentiment is representative of who you are. My friends know I`ll respect them no matter what.

  • @Tvjunkieful12
    @Tvjunkieful12 13 лет назад

    @MrHugeproblem But who`s qualities? It is sort of standing on the shoulders of others - the song, not the singer. The intro is straight out of Ravel`s Bolero, and there are other passages too - both from classical music and film music. But it would work fabulous in the elevator at a posh hotel, or in a Bentley advert. I`m not so sure I want it in Eurovision. Just imagine if every single Eurovision entry was like this - and we would have to watch singers standing static, for more than 2 hours?

  • @Tvjunkieful12
    @Tvjunkieful12 13 лет назад

    @prowelsh56 Actually it isn`t that strange you can hum it, cause it basicly consists of bits sampled from - not all, but a lot of clasical music pieces - starting with Ravel`s Bolero in the intro. The same way Thomas G:son and the other writers of last years Danish entry for Eurovision used the Police classic Every breathe you take on the intro for Chanee & N`evergreen. And the same way G:son this year uses ABBA and Irene Cara/Giorgio Moroder respectively for two of this years Swedish cand.

  • @Tvjunkieful12
    @Tvjunkieful12 13 лет назад

    @breizhcatalonia1993 I have to confess that Corsica isn`t exactly my specialist subject - I actually thought he was singing in Italian. Silly me. But please get me right, I haven`t put down neither the singer, nor the song - just expressed my fear, that, with all of the Jazz, various ethnic, retro and now classical entries, the 3 tv-shows in Dusseldorf in May isn`t exactly going to be a hoot to watch - as a tv-show. I just hope the Swedes will change that a little by selecting Eric Saade on Sat.

  • @Tvjunkieful12
    @Tvjunkieful12 13 лет назад

    @breizhcatalonia1993 I haven`t said anything about you, I was commenting on the French entry for Eurosong. And as for the boring part, by that i referred to the majority of the entries so far confirmed, and my imagined experience of what the two semifinals and one final might be like. And I predict those will be kind of boring - sorry, but I do. Where Corsica comes into it, I have no idea. Is the singer perhaps from Corsica - just like the former racing driver Jean Alessi? (and Napoleon);-)

    I agree maroulaki17. Im from Estonia and even though I called desperately for France, it is not a song that would please the masses in the era we live in. The song is far from being catchy, what a eurovision song contest winner song has to be. Even though I may sound ignorant, the saying or knowing applies: only the more educated ones can appreciate and understand classical music.

  • @russiancatsima
    @russiancatsima 13 лет назад

    Very handsome singer with a wonderful and powerful voice! Would be great on stage and in the movies..However he does not fit in Eurovision which is oriented on entertaintment, pop music and commercial success. Besides, most of the time the prizes there are sold out . Just remember last winer? The girl did not have a gram of talent or voice, but she was a granddaughter of prime minister..so...The good part is that music is not sport so the whole idea of competing in music is ridicilious.

  • @AlleKennenEiner
    @AlleKennenEiner 13 лет назад

    This year will be a serious year for Eurovision. This song can easily compete with Denmark and Azerbaijan. Although, not in a classical sense. Azerbaijan is pseudo-last year's Denmark. Denmark's reminds me of another year but I cannot put my finger on it. Both are very good songs and can easily compete with France. Although, my vote would be with France if I was in Europe.

  • @AlleKennenEiner
    @AlleKennenEiner 13 лет назад

    Something like this was tried a few years ago (2007 I think) by Latvia. They failed. I'm not quite sure the European community is ready to vote 12 points to classical music yet. Although, classical won in 2007 so ... I don't know. 1:27 isn't the greatest way to transfer the tune. I didn't like it at that moment with the strings. The tune is pretty good.

  • @Belkagazaryan
    @Belkagazaryan 13 лет назад

    @eastfrankonian I don't mind. I'll vote for him, too, but there are many people who don't understand this type of music. They will like more something more easy and light may be. Something to dance. Unfortunately not all people watch eurovision. But I wish him to win. I really do. Ok, we will see in the end. May be everything is not so bad.))))

    @Tvjunkieful12 ok, no problem, its just that the language from corsica is corican, not french, corsican is veeeeery similar to the italian but is more much more archaic, example "is" in italian is "é" and in corican is "ghje". Let's see

    @Eurofrank1
    Eurotrash -
    He nailed this piece. Sure he messed it up during the performance because he couldn't hear the music. Seems like you are very famous with music. Enlighten us with the names of your CDs. I would love to hear just one of them. In the meantime, maybe freshen up on your "may I take your order" at Mickey D's. If dumb were music, you'd surely be a symphony!
    Next?

  • @canyoubelievethis220
    @canyoubelievethis220 13 лет назад

    @Eurofrank1
    EF - Bless your heart. So a singer would rather not try to attempt the high notes as opposed to singing live. No doubt in my mind that your light is on, but no one is home. And he is going to screw up on his "big" night? Can you tell me what Google stock is going to do tomorrow? And while you're at it, can you tell me how high gas will be this time next week? You seem to be able to see into the future.
    I think it's best you get off the cross because we need the wood.

  • @canyoubelievethis220
    @canyoubelievethis220 13 лет назад

    @Eurofrank1
    So at least you admit that he is singing live but tell me, or at least give me a hint, why someone singing live would use a video of his voice in the background. That doesn't make any sense. Think about it. Why would one have a recording of his voice in the background if he is going to sing live? I would never do that because I would be afraid that my mouth movements (pantomining) would never match up to the playback. Come on ... why? Bless your heart ....

  • @canyoubelievethis220
    @canyoubelievethis220 13 лет назад

    @Eurofrank1
    Word up, sweetie. I have been a musician all my life and also have perfect pitch. Have you ever heard of Tim Janis? He travels around to different malls and has a soundtrack AND a few musicians to play with that soundtrack. There may be added music but he is still singing this live. Why would his body and head shake when he hits the high notes and also the veins popping out in his neck.
    God loveth even a fool!

  • @canyoubelievethis220
    @canyoubelievethis220 13 лет назад

    @Eurofrank1
    Also, notice when he sings the high notes towards the end, his head (and body) are shaking from such velocity that he needs to project when singing. Also, I doubt the music director (band director) is going to be up there making a fool out of himself by standing there directing an orchestra without them playing.
    It takes a lot of power and projection to hit high notes such as his and again, you can tell he is projecting a lot of power in order to hit them. Watch!

  • @canyoubelievethis220
    @canyoubelievethis220 13 лет назад

    @Eurofrank1
    Sorry, Frank - but like I said ... you can't silence a violin or cello (or even piano) in a live broadcast. The musicians are actually playing their instruments. And if you notice the veins in his neck popping out when he hits the high notes - don't think he's faking that. Let's get other people's opinions on here, but odds are much better that he's singing it live.

  • @canyoubelievethis220
    @canyoubelievethis220 13 лет назад

    @Eurofrank1
    What makes you think it's not? He does his expressions and supports his high notes with the movements of his head. And how can the violins and cellos actually be playing and people not hear them? The violinists nor cellos can play their instruments without sound coming from them as an electric guitar or electric piano. I've seen videos where neither the piano nor the guitar didn't even have cords to plug them in, but they were out on stage. Now that was stupid!

  • @canyoubelievethis220
    @canyoubelievethis220 13 лет назад

    This guy is singing this live ... no faking here. But it does look as if he is looking down at 0:22, 0:39, 0:57, 1:23, and 2:08. There is something below him and don't know if it's a speaker, but might be something containing the words. And whomever doesn't like his singing, go back to another hobby because you sure don't know music. This guy is even better than Josh Groban. He looks to be very humble and if good looking were music, he would be a symphony!

  • @thomani9
    @thomani9 13 лет назад

    This is supposed to be a SONG contest @tvjunkieful12 not a show of whirling dervishes and pretty flashing lights. The focus only shifted big scale to putting on a show after Latvia's win in 2002. The song and singer should be the most important, as here. I look at the songs favoured by people who criticise a quality entry like this, and we find things like Sweden's Eric Saade: classic Europop, pretty boys, cheesy lyrics which sound naff to English speakers - fun but throwaway pap. Yawn...

  • @777LeilaAngel777
    @777LeilaAngel777 13 лет назад

    Some may call it boring, but my question is: How the REAL music can be boring ?
    Listen to it carefully and you will melt in the notes and soon your soul will ask for more. This kind of music carries you to another world and time.And when I listen to it with my eyes are closed I am flying...
    Now you must be thinking that I am boring 50 years old music teacher , but the truth is that I am 16 years old rocker ! But no one can deny hat old classical music is perfection.

  • @salfordlad

    I dont want a Eurovision song like all the rest I want something different and something that wins because of the songs own merits. Im neither women or gay but I like this song, i dont think its boring and who cares if it sounds like other classical pieces there are several other entries that sound like pop bands and even last years winner sang with a lilly allen accent yet she was german. Millions are people vote and they vote who they want. End of...

And it seems that Italy decided to return with full energy because if Italy is in the same condition of France, Germany, Spain and UK it means they give big contributes to EBU. That's why they're called the 'big 4' and now they became the 'big 5'. :)

    He is indeed pretty popular. I just don't see this as such a crowd pleaser, and I cannot imagine much presence on stage. Pretty powerful song. I'm mixed.

    This song may be powerful, but I don't think Eurovision's audience want opera, as shown with Sweden 2 years ago. I'd say UK or Sweden this year.

    His voice is wondeful, and he looks like a prince from a fairy tale. I wouldn't doubt a second to marry him. ; )

    @daovee1 Just saying it's considered a different language. Corsicans hate it when people say their language is basically Italian
