The thing is, me making fun of Hyde Central is so ingrained in my mind, I'm not sure I'll ever replace my jokes with Langley Mill!
Langley Mill is just 2 platforms, nothing excited...
I remember Saturday Leeds-St.Pancras morning service by HST, stopping at this station - but You can only enter/exit via first 3 coaches.
Unfortunately this service was scrapped due "lack of stock" after withdrawns HST... Hopefully situation will chance after introduction of 810 fleet.
Now is a regional station, served mostly by Norhern, overcrowded 2 car trains.
If You have chance - there is short walk to Erewash canal, and if You follow down to Ilkeston, You can climb to Bennerley Viaduct - one of few remainings of GCR.
I personally try to avoid Norhern - too many problems, with them.
will you start making references to mill hill Broadway being bad?
@JenOnTheMove to be honest loads of stations are in the dull stations category where they are not terrible but at the same time not much interesting stuff going on there especially with commuter stations
The London Boy comment really made me laugh, I immediately thought of Geoff lol
Me too 😂
Thanks for sticking up for wheelchair users. Better access for all. JenOnTheMove for PM
I try my best!
i am (what i call) semi-disabled, I can walk a few yards (50 on a good day) and can climb a few stairs, but I'm glad you 'stood up' for the disabled, hurray😊
I want to see this Class 4,791 Locomotive now! LOL, Brilliant and a lot of Jen-isms in this video but did really enjoyed watching this. Fun pointless fact, I got kicked off Alfreton Station once because the Flying Scotsman was due passed and they were saving the platform for the locals.
You really didn't miss much there!
Pro tip from local - I avoid Alfreton station as well.
EMR are planning to replace the Class 222 Meridians with the Class 810 Aurora IETs and are expected to enter service from next year.
What another awesome RUclips video by you Jen! I absolutely love the Midlands line because of the East Midlands Railway trains 😊
I suspect there's a lot of EMR trains in my future!
3:20 Sustenance: See It, Say It, Sorted.
Nice vlog Jen, I’ve done a few of these stations when there was diverts last May I have to agree Langley Mill was fairly dull station!
I love that Langley Mill (my local station) is the thumbnail for the video.
New subscriber and loving the videos ❤
Thank you! I hope you stick around!
Platform 3 at Chesterfield was built as a spare for when the main line was closed. Minimal shelter provided. Some services now use it, and it is no longer gated off.
Brilliant video Jen, I've only ever been through Langley Mill but seeing how much there is there makes me feel I'm not missing much by not getting out there lol.
Its sad you didn't get a picture of the class 4,791.
Glad you got fed.
Hope you got coffee.
And you kept your sanity?
The EMR 158's were originally going, but EMR worked out that they still needed them as they kept the Liverpool to Norwich service as part of the franchise. There's now so many units out of service at Derby and Nottingham that I don't think they can afford to take them out of service for a repaint.
Also the big water feature outside Sheffield station was built to represent the steel that Sheffield was built on. I think the fact it hides the road is just a bonus.
The official name of the water feature is ‘The Cutting Edge’.
im loving all the stations & i def wouldnt mind visiting Sheffield & Chesterfield one day & def agree about the Northern 195s id rather ride a 195 over a 150 brilliant vlog
1:34 I wonder if Jen knew how close she was to water? The River Sheaf runs under the station just about where she is standing!
If you want a positive for Langley Mill; walk 5 minutes east and you're on a canal that the railway shadows all the way past Ilkeston to the Trent south of Long Eaton. The McDonald's is pretty literally half way there.
A bit further in the other direction, plenty of water at Shipley Country Park on the south side of Heanor. It also hosts a parkrun for London Boy.
Chesterfield church famously has a crooked spire. I was told that if a virtuous person walks past, it will straighten. 😁
Technically the Meridians are Voyagers, as Meridian is entirely a brand name. They're all Bombardier Voyagers, I imagine the Meridians just have a brand name as they are a superior improvement to the original voyager design, namely the buffet cars, staff sections, and other internal system reworks.
but 221s have buffet cars and staff sections....
@@maerlusiq I wasn't aware of that, do XC and AWC have buffet cars, or is it only one of the two that have them?
The spire on that church in Chesterfield is known, for obvious reasons, as The Crooked Spire!
Nice of you to visit Chesterfield my home town!
Fun fact - I’ve never used an uber!
Was the red loco the class 4791? 😜
Fun video, despite the dullness of the station!
Brilliant video!
"Bored, bored, bored..."
What this station is a board! A local notice board. Ah, there was a meeting of the local board games club 2 summers ago, I see.
"Can I get a bus out here?"
Another thing to put on that notice board: Map to the local bus stop and the bus schedule.
Nothing wrong with a red 66 loco, I was at Alfreton Parkway for the opening in 1977 with Peter Parker chairman of British Rail.
As a Northern commuter for 35 years the 195 is a serious backward step compared to the 158. Noisy, uncomrtable seats, already very rattly and no grab handles on the lobby areas make them impossible to stand there when it is very busy.
Hi Jen,
I to have travelled on that route, I agree with you about Langley Mill, when I went there the most exciting thing was watching some paint dry...I did like Sheffield though, it's an interesting station and I especially liked the steel water wall. I have yravelled by both bus and taxi to reach the car dealerships I had to inspect and collect from. RAILS Model Shop is not far from the station, about a 10 minute bus ride...
See you in the next video,
Take care,
Jon B. 👍
I always find myself googling train types when I watch these videos.
“what kind of bus number is a blue circle”
that’s trentbarton for ya.
Eventually, a series which I've done most stops on! I went to uni in Leicester, so I managed to do a lot of these while there.
I still need to do Langley Mill and Ilkeston, Belper and Duffield, and the stretch between Corby and the MML (I did Corby from the north when there were diversions on). But, otherwise I've done all other stops between Sheffield and St Pancras.
One good thing about Langley Mill is that not far from the station 3 canals meet
I get the impression that the further south you travel on that line, more grim the station is. Hopefully that trend doesn't continue with Ilkeston
Having already been to Bedford as part of the Marston Vale Line, I feel you may be on to something here! 🤣
@JenOnTheMove I think Luton takes the title of "Hyde Central of the south " 🤣🤣🤣
I used to live in Luton and
@Thornaby37 is right, actually Hyde Central is probably more 'interesting' than Luton (but less platforms)😊
@@Thornaby37 I think Hendon and Mill Hill Broadway could be contenders as well
Ahh Sheffield. Been through many times, but the only time I ever got a train from there, it was a Pacer to Lincoln. The only ever Pacer I've ever been on! Class 144 3car one too!
Totally agree your thoughts on Langley Mill and don't get me started on Trent Barton bus routes, my local one is the Indigo (Nottingham-Derby)
"YOLO", "nom nom nom" - we need to get jen into millennial-speak rehab
Rockin the blue hair jen, stunning giiiirl 🏳️🌈❤🎉
I'm going to Sheffield this weekend! I'll have a look for the water wall! 🤣Nice video!
Ah navigating back to Chesterfield station! I'm a Yorkshire cricket fan and we play there every season. One time play was halted due to thunder so I made my way back to the station via a quieter public footpath I discovered. Along the way I took a wrong turning and ended up next to the busy roads, and of course it started to bucket it down. Typical.
Great video Jen 😊
I had the pleasure of spending some time in the Sheffield Tap while waiting for a delayed Voyager (boo!) back in October. If you ever have a bit of time spare, it’s worth checking out. 😀
Jen is just the best but I am sure there is a worse station than this dullest station
Dull stations aren't necessarily the worst, they're just so non notable
Bit of ASMR for your editor
at the end - you're such a generous person \m/
2:49 No voyagers don't stop at Dronfield .
just for information Voyagers did call at Dronfield, albeit 1 each way each day, but boards never removed
@@mrowl-the-dsm1304 the EMR one or the cross country ones
@networkerfan CrossCountry Voyagers used to stop, only four cars were allowed due to short platform, it was timetabled calling point, I cant find the year at the moment. Stop Boards never removed, just in case XC was asked to call at the station again
@@mrowl-the-dsm1304 I'd expect they were gone by 1990s at the latest
@@GabrielsReviews Well Voyagers were built 2000- 2001, I will take a guess at around 2007 - 2010 I am sure there is plenty of material on internet that will confirm dates
Geoff needs a 'London Boy' in LU font tshirt for Xmas
@1:18 that looks like the Liverpool to Norwich or vis versa service, they then to run 158's in a 4-carriage formation with it splitting to 2 at Nottingham. Normally comes in and out on that side of the station as well.
4 car only in peak/day time
2 cars for early morning/late night services.
Great video Jen! 158s rule!
Jen be warned when visiting every station on the west coast mainline when you get to Tamworth avoiding voyagers will be impossible because both Avanti voyagers on the low level lines and cross country voyagers on the high level lines
I haven’t been to Sheffield yet but I’m tempted to go there. And to ride on the Sheffield Supertram.
@@Anonymoususer_8823 I’d be happy to meet you there Andrew.
another video, my god its my lucky day xx
EMRs 158s are staying as far as I know. They're going to be refurbished so maybe they're just waiting until then to re-wrap them.
The Midland and Great Central route overlap for Manchester - Sheffield - London does make you wonder who happily swung the axe to close the ex-GC lines...
{insert my usual rant about TrentBarton bus numbering here}
sheffield home of british steel manufacturing. the steel waterfall sculpture outside sheffield station was made with German Steel?
Finally, my local line, can't wait to see what you think of some of the local stations to me 😂
I hope Langley Mill isn't your local station! 😂
@JenOnTheMove don't worry you've got a while to go I think 😂 it's towards the middle of the line you'll find my local station
You should see the water wall in the Coin shopping centre in Spain
Maybe one day I'll make it over there!
@@JenOnTheMove its opposite the site of the purpose built set for EL DORADO but the wall is quite a feat.
How could freight locos not excite you? 😫
spire leaning due to science. YES!!! how do they know that the 14:43 train is going to be delay, though. Is that also science?
Yay my local I on here 🎉
EM 158s - they are waiting to refurbish the 170s and 360s, they are going to refurbish the entire fleet pretty much at the same time to save money
Jen, I'm sure the patrons wouldn't mind 13 quid a month for a Readly subscription for Langley Mills situations
Strange, at Langely Mill you ought to be able to get a bus straight to Ilkeston: the 33 or the 34...
Ah, no, not to the station though. Sorry.🙈
Try Finstock in Oxfordshire ( VERY dull 😝 ) ............... DAVE™🛑
£13 for an uber seemed like a bargain 😬
11:11 Jen as a Swiftie /Taylor swift fan, saying London boy will attract the entire Taylor Swift fandom because Taylor Swift has a song called London boy. i hope you like Taylor Swift Jen because overwise the Swiftie's watching this video apologise for getting exited over you referring to Geoff Marshall as a Taylor Swift song title
I just checked her playlist. There are currently 6 Taylor swift songs on there 😊
@Squareybee which ones?
@networkerfan Anti-Hero, Blank Space, Cruel Summer, karma, Love story (Taylors version) and Shake it off
@@Squareybee Jen is a Swiftie OMG
@@networkerfan not a massive swiftie apparently, we were just talking about this. She didn't know the song London boy. I played it to her. She didn't know the potential implications from that song 😂 🤣 😂 🤣 😂 🤣 😂
There are two major issues with the 195s, 1 they are high floor so no level boarding (simply unacceptable these days!!) and 2 pure diesel not bi modes. Imagine if Northern ordered a 755 type train instead...
Dronfield is pronounced 'Dronfield'.
You're welcome #helpful 🙂
Have you done or are you doing the Robin Hood Line
I love voyagers. and I don’t know why you hate them.
Everyone has favourites and least favourites, and not everyone is the same :D
A class 66 locomotive Jen they are used on freight services
Ying ying \m/
offs nearly factual content, bullet dodged and the sausage bap looked good btw im a starvin marvin
you pronounced Dronfield correctly. Chesterfield used to be my local station
You have pronounced Dronfield correctly.
Hands up if you spotted the easter eggs that editor Jen hid in the video! 😀
Jen isn't even the editor ;-)
What do you think about tge Deepcar line being Mothballed?
Hopefully it's not the end, and something could be done in the future!
At last, a station to beat Hyde Central 🎉
Awards that no station wants!
@JenOnTheMove lol just wait till you get to Millbrook (just outside Southampton Central) let's see where that sits on the list 🤔🤣🤣🤣
@JenOnTheMove Trust me - the area near the station is worse.
Same with Ilkeston.
How did you manage to make the most boring station in the video the most interesting one, and the one you showed the most of? Great YouTubing!
only reason Langley mill shelter has glass is because no one uses it because no one likes it,
I bet you will hate Wrexham station
What a non-station. Sad.

Hi, Jen, have you received my email sent to you?
I'm a little bit behind on emails at the moment, I will catch up eventually though!
