2nd gen 3 series (e36) best looking desighn. im lucky to own a boston green euro 325 limozeen (Sedan). euro m50 motor is quicker then the u.s m50 on any up hill
I have a 1991 E36 325i Sedan and a 1993 325i coupe, both manual and both are my favourite cars out of the 9 different cars I have owned, nothing feels as good to drive as the E36. You feel everything, it's nice and mechanical and the throttle response is instant, new cars have been a letdown for me ever since :)
Back in 2000 I bought a 95', sure do miss my E36, Dakar Yellow, it did stand out. Absolutely best balanced and handling car I've ever owned. The brakes were amazing, and that straight six just loved to roar, the power band was endless. Now I have a newer 328i and it just doesn't feel the same. Ho Hum....
Sammy, my E36 M3 will be finalized in the next year, tons of new original parts bought into it(approx 40k euro), same like a 0km E36 and I will make a similar video from it to show that there are some E36 enthusiasts around the world and the E36 is still a very good looking (in my opinion its the best looking) car.
jump oricakle wtf I swear I've been saying the same thing. Like it would be cool if you could just special order one off bmw individual, so they wouldn't have to mass produce them.
***** I think there's some rule where if a car manufactured makes less than 500 cars per year then it doesn't have to meet regulations. maybe BMW could make a subsidiary to produce the reissues.
To Gerhard Richter a personal thank you for bringing such a wonderful car to the road..... my own e36 convertible is my pride and joy...... the engine just purrs and on the country lanes of Cornwall with the top down..... just magic.... I wish bmw would do a run of this model again but it would have to be a carbon copy with careful consideration to upgrades..... the e36 looks great sat among modern cars because it stands out.... interestingly though the modern mini is so big it makes our car feel small and more like a mini.... where as in 1999 when I first drove the car it felt big in relation to other cars..... yes I love the e36 and I love mine..... thank you BMW.
+Mehow DF agreed. To date; the e39 M5 is still arguably the pinnacle of the super saloon segment in terms of striking visual appeal/aesthetics, handling, power and build quality.
Cant wait for the video on the e46 m3! i hope they do the entire m3 generations and also an M5 generation too after :) Thanks Bmw! love these types of videos
Well we have one from new and I love it... its like part of the family... and this year this month she's 25 years old.... and still turns heads ... its bitter sweet becouse looking at the current car market there isn't the equivalent car.... both looks and the idea that this car will in 25 years it will become a classic..
I had a 95 E36 m3, and now I have a newer F30, and the balance and feel, braking and performance, power band and smoothness of the older car, is much better than the new F30 in my opinion.
I has a yellow one, 95. Bought in 2000. Best car I ever had, The bmw's today lost all the feel. The balance, the breaks, the rev of the engine went on forever. Man I miss that car.
An former English teacher of mine had this exact one and it was the first time I'd seen a Dakar Yellow BMW. Needless to say I've been in love ever since
I love how all the e36 M325i m50's are shunted just like they don't mention the failure of there non iron blocks for there non North america cars. m5025b is a great engine, just put 93 with Lucas oil racing octane booster which has the elements stripped from NA gas along with more goodies, different air filter(seal the system as well), NGK iridium's, high flow fuel pump with 328 injectors, and a ecu tune for the set up, (eventually a look at the exhaust system and set it up even more for a torque, not HP supplemental system, ecu flash to follow) and like a REAL racing engine one must LEARN the engine and the car which is too tall a order for most pedal mashers, even stock, you control the throttle, not mash it all the time, get her up above 1850 at less than an inch of throttle(very easy for a well kept one, even in my 92 sedan 325i I did not need that much before light tinkering, after barely 2 thirds of an inch) then you can suddenly put the throttle down a third's worth and not only is it immediately responsive in any gear, lower speeds u will torque the rear and burn out and have to let off, at higher speeds the torque keeps u in control to say the least, it will still try to pull you too the seat, while the HP still allows a very nice top speed and the engine during which sounds like a true street blended racing machine, let off the throttle to cruise and keep the gear right for the speed and between 1600 to 1900 it makes the most attractive sound, hit the throttle and the tones pace and tone increases to become a hole different monster. not to mention in my honest opinion, the engine is hungry for air, super charging would fit, ether kind depending on preference, to "smooth' out the engine, but its a peaky twich engine, it wants to be driven, you just gotta learn, not force it to conform with a vanos the and things like the better pistons etc that the m50 non vanos SHOULD have had from factory. then hell you could look at more aggressive cames but you don't even need the astronomical revving, it allows you to be in the power and torque bands sweet spots for what ever curve you want if you CAN LEARN how to get and keep and remover her from there to the next needed move.. I swear... the vanos even killed the engine sounds for me. non vanos when given the mods listed, even with stock exhaust, sound fucking fantastic, in more than just 'REV STRAIGHT TO RED LINE AND LET OF ALL THE WAY" you can feel the moods of the car based on the control of the throttle, the vanos, it feels fundmentally different in that way, core feelings where altered and lost. its sad..really sad.
this car is basically the empire strikes back of bmw, just when you thought the sequel would never outperform the original, it blows it out of the fucking water
That harsh yellow colour aside, this e36 M3 was very subtle and restrained.....contrast that to the aggressive bulges, spoilers and scoops of the current M3/M4.... what a difference! :-o I think the E46 is the best M3, but the E36 is very underrated!
Solid car, bulletproof engine.. 236k miles and still running strong! Too bad the USA-version is only a measly 240hp compared to their EU counterpart of 321hp . Damn those strict emissions regulations.
+Dimitris Barlas Indeed. If you look more closely, the vid uses 2 yellow coupes. One is a 3.0 model, the other a 3.2. They mix them up the whole movie.
The best looking 3-er in my opinion. Honestly I don't understand the hype over E30s, it looks too boxy and the interior, in my opinion, looks like an old Russian Lada.
+Dom Toretto I loved my E36 but we were definitely shafted on motor and output versus the Euro spec versions. It was a great car, but it would've been nice to have the same power plant as the ones mentioned in this vid.
brandon chism having driven all variants myself. I find the US spec "snappier" around town and at speeds below 60. It really isnt nearly as bad as internet spec warriors would have people believe. Most of whom (have never driven both) and just focus on published hp ratings between the two. Above 90 or so mph the euro cars do start to show their power advantage. But we rarely see those speeds here. On tighter circuits the us can easily keep up and (depending on suspension mods)will handily beat a euro spec especially if its stock vs modded suspension. Also(at least on the 3.2L euro) they have "torque limiting" in 1st gear. Something in the dme programming reduces output. Thats why the 0-60's for us spec and euro are almost identical. It takes very simple mods to have a us spec dyno 230-240whp these days. Thats right around 280 hp at the crank. Combine that with the US spec being slightly lighter, that so called big gap doesnt look so big anymore. Nevermind the us spec being way cheaper to maintain and overall more reliable. Not too shabby for getting "Shafted". It was designed and built by the same people and from the same factory. I think they knew what they were doing. And if you read all the old articles you can get your hands on youll find it was met with nothing but praise for the overall package(even in comparison with the euro)
+Dom Toretto thanks for the insight. I kept mine bone stock because of my limited funds at the time. I loved that car and based on your points, I feel a little better about having the less potent US variant. I've just always hated when certain cars aren't offered here or when versions that are offered aren't the same as elsewhere. I get why it was done, but it still sucks from the consumer standpoint.
+Dom Toretto no ones is really saying it's bad. But since it's US vs rest-of-world, the US missed out on a greater engine. Again, this does not automatically mean the US is bad. But it's nothing special. Of course it isn't, since it's a bored and stroked M50/52.
1D0N the euro is also a bored and stroked m50/m52. The "magic" came from the cylinder head. And at the end of the day the extra cost wasnt worth it back then. They did an amazing job with the us spec car. They really did. From an engineering, manufacturing and business packaged point of view I would say it was a bigger success. Obviously the euro had more bells and whistles in the cylinder head but real world performance it didnt mean much until you were on full boil beyond 90+ mph. Something most of us in north america dont regularly see, even on race tracks.
+Dom Toretto now you're downplaying the Euro plant to justify the US was more than enough. In that sense, no one needs more then 150bhp for road use. It's more than simply the head. If you know half the S50 non-US block, you would not say that. Unless it's the downplaying game.
I don't get it why people hate the SMG so much on this car that many people converted it into a manual, i mean... if you don't like it then don't buy it just let others who like it buy it instead
The Best car ever MADE !!!! build it Again BMW !
2nd gen 3 series (e36) best looking desighn. im lucky to own a boston green euro 325 limozeen (Sedan). euro m50 motor is quicker then the u.s m50 on any up hill

I agree they should start to make new e36
I like how this video is 3 minutes and 36 seconds
+Euphorica Why?
+She Swallowed It because 3 series e36?
Honey Weed
Lol okay. I thought it was like 336i (which doesn't exist)
+She Swallowed It 3 series e36
*mind blown* lol
Back in 2000 I bought a 95', sure do miss my E36, Dakar Yellow, it did stand out. Absolutely best balanced and handling car I've ever owned. love the e36 m3! properly sleek , clean, classy and powerful.
The most understated and overlooked M3. Nice to see it finally get some love, even if the vid is only 3 and a half minutes.
+Sammyzuko
It gets plenty of love on the track every weekend ;)
Sammy, my E36 M3 will be finalized in the next year, tons of new original parts bought into it(approx 40k euro), same like a 0km E36 and I will make a similar video from it to show that there are some E36 enthusiasts around the world and the E36 is still a very good looking (in my opinion its the best looking) car.
I wish car companies could do vintage reissues like guitar companies.
+jump oricakle oh dude that would be amazing!
jump oricakle wtf I swear I've been saying the same thing. Like it would be cool if you could just special order one off bmw individual, so they wouldn't have to mass produce them.
that would cost too much, not to mention this car wouldn't meet regulations for collisions it would take alot of money to re engineer it.
***** that is a strikingly good point Debbie Downer lol xD
***** I think there's some rule where if a car manufactured makes less than 500 cars per year then it doesn't have to meet regulations. maybe BMW could make a subsidiary to produce the reissues.
Best handling car at that time.
To Gerhard Richter a personal thank you for bringing such a wonderful car to the road..... my own e36 convertible is my pride and joy...... the engine just purrs and on the country lanes of Cornwall with the top down..... just magic.... Timeless.
I love the strong square styling of this generation M3,
Best M3.
I had an E36 320i for my first car. I have a soft spot for E36s.... Love them to death.
I'm thinking of getting a 320i, can you tell me the biggest problems it had? :)
@@CatGuy969 I bought 318i sedan for my first bmw car, gonna keep it and buy another with 6 cylinder :)
truly a engineering masterpiece... one of my favorites... 3201cm3, 321hp, 3.23 lsd, 350nm/torque, 6 speed/box.
Always loved the E36 and I'm happy to own a piece of BMW Motorsport history.
ps. when they show the 3.0 specs in the beginning, what you see is the 3.2 engine.
Please do this series with the history of the M5, they too revolutionaised the super saloon industry and have a rich history
Yup. M5 please ☺
+Mehow DF agreed. To date; the e39 M5 is still arguably the pinnacle of the super saloon segment in terms of striking visual appeal/aesthetics, handling, power and build quality.
+Mehow DF AGREED! its only 3 series bla bla :( want to see e28,e34,e39 and so on
yaaz
AGREE!! M5!
I didn't really cared much about BMW... that's until I bought a 98 E36 M3. Indeed a special car that connects to the driver like no other!
legendary car
Cant wait for the video on the e46 m3! i hope they do the entire m3 generations and also an M5 generation too after :) Thanks Bmw! love these types of videos
*Absolutely, My Number 1 Favourite BMW* 😍
Well we have one from new and I love it... its like part of the family... and this year this month she's 25 years old.... and still turns heads ... its bitter sweet becouse looking at the current car market there isn't the equivalent car.... both looks and the idea that this car will in 25 years it will become a classic..
I dont have words for how amazing this car is, i just love it ❤️
I had a 95 E36 m3, and now I have a newer F30, and the balance and feel, braking and performance, power band and smoothness of the older car, is much better than the new F30 in my opinion.
I has a yellow one, 95. Bought in 2000. Best car I ever had, The bmw's today lost all the feel. The balance, the breaks, the rev of the engine went on forever. Man I miss that car.
The middle child in the M3 series. The most overlooked one. I hope I'll be able to buy one before everyone else realises it and the values shoot up
I have been waiting for a e36 M3 history video like this. Well Done!
I hope you make these videos longer, they are just awesome !
An former English teacher of mine had this exact one and it was the first time I'd seen a Dakar Yellow BMW. Needless to say I've been in love ever since
Sure is a stunner 🥹💛
Fell in love with this car while playing NFS Shift 2.
Looks better than current BMW models
E36 the best M3 ever
Isokay Stfu
Best in Design too

That's a real design. Very nice and beautiful.
One day I'll have one of these in my collection!
I have a e36 325is with a s50 & lowering springs. I love it it's an awesome car.
Window switches and other bits from e36 m3 were used in McLaren F1, the engine was basically 2 m3 e36 engines put together for the F1 development.
The E39 M5 is one the greatest BMW's of all time
Dom Grady stfu
Yellow is just amazing all round
Tengo un BMW y no le puedo dejar la bateria conecta por que despues no prende me podrian decir que es.

BMW IS FROM MY 😍😍😍
this car is basically the empire strikes back of bmw, just when you thought the sequel would never outperform the original, it blows it out of the fucking water
superb video... superb car!!!
The best bmw ever. Best motor!! No turbos! Please make it again !
And I am a proud owner of an M3 GT :)
Love the car.
e36 and e46 look like perfection
Love the SMG testbed.
That black M3 GT looks sexy AF. I think the E36 gets better with age, looks wise if kept stock and kept clean.
It's racing dark green. All GTs came in this colour.
That harsh yellow colour aside, this e36 M3 was very subtle and restrained.....contrast that to the aggressive bulges, spoilers and scoops of the current M3/M4.... what a difference! :-o I think the E46 is the best M3, but the E36 is very underrated!
This is my fucking dreamcar!!!!!! It looks incredible pretty and it drives like a dream!!!!! Man.. Back in the days when BMW did great cars!
I have the launch color I’m hype
Solid car, bulletproof engine.. 236k miles and still running strong! Too bad the USA-version is only a measly 240hp compared to their EU counterpart of 321hp . Damn those strict emissions regulations.
+fvhitman4hire Nothing to do with emissions more to do with cost. To keep the price way down compared to the standard one.
thank you for this vid!
0:39 I think that this is an S50B32 3,2L with 321hp . Correct me if I'm wrong.
Thank you bmw for making the best car in the history!
For me E36 is ultimate BMW. I have i3 and modern 520d but garage pearls are E36 318is coupe and E36/7= Z3.
Cant wait for the e46 m3
super video!!! thank you BMW
Original owner here I still have mine. 👍
bmw forever
BMW da best. E36 rly cool
Beautiful!!
I NEED IT!!!
M3 Perfect Car (Yellow m3)
l love bmw cars because of their durability.
At 0:39 the video shows the 3.2 motor but the tag describes the 3.0!!!!
+Dimitris Barlas Indeed. If you look more closely, the vid uses 2 yellow coupes. One is a 3.0 model, the other a 3.2. They mix them up the whole movie.
history of m5 please
this is best car ever made ;)
Call me when this car will stop looking badass. Yeah you don't even need my number, and you know it.
Who's The Narrator of this video? I really want to know it because I love his deep voice.
E36 =
my dream car
Well to be fair the orignal E30 was a limited edition , this was a full on production car so then its obvious that you are going to sell more
Bmw ❤️❤️❤️
Why is the s50b32 shown for the s50b30 narrative ?
my first car in my life it's bmw e36 m3 black
Never heard about M3 GT before. Feel so much shame right now.
+o3tomas what about the M3 LTW? that one was cool too!
The best m car ever made
I love this car :O..
Best car ever made by BMW after e30.
This days BMW suck lots of problems.
I own 2 e36 m3 coupe and sedan... i will never change for a new model....
The best looking 3-er in my opinion. Honestly I don't understand the hype over E30s, it looks too boxy and the interior, in my opinion, looks like an old Russian Lada.
#BMW😍💕 #DREAM😍💕
No mention of the shafted "M3" that the US market got?
+velocity211 shafted with what? faster 0-60 times and an amazingly good car?
+Dom Toretto lol
+Dom Toretto I loved my E36 but we were definitely shafted on motor and output versus the Euro spec versions. It was a great car, but it would've been nice to have the same power plant as the ones mentioned in this vid.

To bad us in the states didn't get that engine in the e36.
+Daniel Klar us spec is not so bad. Lots of uneducated bs hype floating around. its a great car.
NICE
It’s a shame we didn’t get the proper motor here in the US 😭
mz first car was a e36 coupe :D
What about the E36 M3 CSL version?
+Jones Nobs That was not really special since it was based on the US M3 engine. And all the other goodies were stock for Euro M3 GT / 3.2 model.
+Jones Nobs They made an E36 M3 ltw (lightweight)
I love my E36 M3 Evo cabriolet
still Handsome; )
Is there a german original somwere?
Love the nymphomaniac sound of the S50
Price today?
i love it
I don't get it why people hate the SMG so much on this car that many people converted it into a manual, i mean... if you don't like it then don't buy it just let others who like it buy it instead
Best!
Freude am Fähren
My dad has m3 e36 red color
bmw should produce e36 m3 again ! =D
Sangat cepat dan nyaman
shame it got screwed in the US market though
SUPER
