BMW M (M for Motorsport) has been considered the strongest letter in the world. If you have a powerful and iconic reputation, you don’t need whole sentences to tell your story. Just one letter will do. No other single letter in the automotive industry packs as much history, success, passion, and performance as M, something that’s clearly evident in BMW’s own tagline. 2022 marks the M division's 50th anniversary and BMW plans to celebrate the milestone with a few exciting cars. Relevant examples include the next-generation M2 and the two-seater M4 CSL, and the new LMDH racecar that will compete for the IMSA GTP class in 2023. BMW M has a long history of racing success since the 1970s, as an engine supplier for manufacturers like McLaren.
Finally someone who didn't ignore the M3 GTR. Thank you.

@@raychev982 As someone who watches Dount Media. I took some sources from their video of the best BMW racecars ever made and the E46 M3 GTR was in there. The M3 GTR is their thumbnail and on this video thumbnail.

Crazy how porsche complained about getting their a$$ whooped and SOMEHOW banning the M3 GTR, but that's ok because the M3 GTR is just that good of a racecar, that's a huge win in my book.
To be fair porsche was playing by the rules as bmw wasn't.... Porsche was meeting the homologation requirements.
Love the video! The only thing I would criticize is the lack of engine sounds in this vid especially when it came to the GT2 M3 and the Z4 GT3 :(

Great video! The visuals are fantastic. I would've liked a mention to the M3's return to DTM in 2012 with the highly successful E92 scoring driver, team and manufacturer titles in its debut season. That E46 GTR though..😍😍😍

To help: if you are going to appeal to car guys (a notoriously exacting group) you must learn the correct pronunciation of key car/ people names, such as Brab-am, not Brab-i-yam, et al. Otherwise you sound as though you are not expert in your chosen field. Otherwise a well-executed history. I look forward to more.

The M3 GTR is such a cool car and the Video in which Hans Joachim Stuck takes around the Nordschleife is insane.
Great video. Please take note: You are not pronouncing singular possesives correctly. You do not need to use "s" twice when dictating a singular possessive. i.e. M3's is pronounced "Em Threes," not "Em Threes-us." The same goes for "BMW's" being pronounced "Bee-Em-double-use" rather than "Bee-Em-double-use-us."
We really need this kind of video. A history visual of each brand in motorsports to give us a reason to relive the history. With enough interest, GT Classic leagues can be reborn.

The M4 GT3 is my favourite race car to drive in sims. I love it's aggressive look.

Again perfekt video!!! But you forgot the: BMW M3 GT4 (E92), BMW Z4 M Coupe GT and the Alpina B6 GT3
I knew that one of them existed, BMW had made a lot of numerous race cars hence what "M" is all about! I was more focused on a lot of research from BMW sources of one of the MOST successful BMW M racecars.
I'm so familiar with the latest Z4 race car shown in the thumbnail when I think of the Z4. When I think of the M6 GT3, it's the latest one while mostly I forget the Alpina M6. I had trouble finding if the M3 GT4 had any success as in any race wins.

Porsche is a cry baby all because they got a whooping. Don’t get my wrong Porsche has been very dominant over the years in different classes in racing though the years like the group c 24 hour leman races during the 80s and make nice cars they basically pull a Ford and a Chevy move when they complained back is the late 60 and early 70s mopars 426 hemis where whooping them in nascar.

Often overlooked is the homologated 320 SI from 2006, and the WTCC e90 which won 3 world touring car championships and actually gave us the opportunity to own a carbon cased hand built 2.0 4banger engine made by Sauber BMW.

Hey my friend, good video. But you have not listed a very successful vehicle that used worldwide. The Class 2 BMW 320i - Super Touring Car (E36). The car was driven in different stages from 1993 to the 2000s as a touring car around the world, in many racing series. This car won the legendary 24 Hours race at the Nürburgring as the first car with a swapped diesel engine in 1998. All the best and keep up the good.
Were the cars programmed by the factory team or the customer team? All of the BMW cars featured in the video were raced by the factory BMW M team.
BMW as well as many other manufacturers realize their factory assignments via teams such as Schnitzer, Warthofer, Bigazzi, RBM, RLL, PTG, etc. They run under the name BMW Motorsport or BMW M Team. Most of the cars in your video were used by these teams for BMW.
The overall victories at the 24h Spa in 2015, 16, 18 are customer teams such as MarcVDS, Rowe, Walkenhorst. The new LMDh prototype BMW M Hybrid V8 will also be used by RLL for BMW from 2023.
Btw. the other major milestones in BMW motorsport history are the touring cars from the ETCC (E46) and the successor series WTCC (E90), which have made BMW Motorsport very successful. We also don't want to forget BMW's DTM commitment in 2012-2020 and its own Formula BMW in the 2000s. Greetings from Germany

What about the e86 Z4M race car?
BMW Motorsport built 12 GT3 racing versions of the Z4 M Coupé. Also powered by the 3.2-litre engine, but optimised up to 316 kW (430 hp). In the VLN endurance championship at the Nürburgring, the car chalked up numerous victories with Hans-Joachim Stuck and Claudia Hürtgen at the wheel: 11 of the 16 races in the 2009 and 2010 seasons were won by the GT3 version of the Z4 M Coupé.
