Yuqi actually wrote and produced this song herself (in collaboration with some others) and she posted on her Weibo that she was excited to show "a different side of her" - so she had a massive say in the creation, and the rock style was probably her idea too. I think all Neverland was pleasantly surprised ;)
Giant was working together with Team Wang Production. Great Song!
I didn't expect Yuqi to go in this kind of direction with her solo music, but I'm glad she did. I think both songs suit her deeper voice really well! I was excited when I heard the rock influences of Giant in the teaser, and I genuinely enjoy the song, but I agree that it would really benefit by being more dynamic. Definitely with you on Bonnie & Clyde being my favourite of the two. Yuqi had writing and composition credits on Giant, so I completely understand why it's been promoted more, but I'd love to see some kind of extra promotion for Bonnie & Clyde too. Probably one of my favourite songs of the year so far.

I thought that GIANT was perfectly done, no need for more Dynamics, because with these kind of songs its easily to overdo it and then you will lose the feels and message. If you have followed Yuqi then this direction is no surprise because even her co produced single LOST had acoustic guitar elements to it and lyrics on the dramatic ballad side. Also she is compared alot to Dua Lipa because she has the same vocal colors and you can see those influences in Bonnie and Clyde. My expectations were high, but she even exceeded those. This is downright the best pop song of the year, not only for kpop, but for the pop industry in general. This is grammy worthy. With these singles Yuqi not only showcased her deep voice which she is known for, but also her higher tone of voice, one word, Amazing! Yuqi probably promoted GIANT first, because the production is probably more close to her personally as it is like an Anthem for her career up to now.

I am so happy Yuqi got to shine on her solo debut! And i can agree, Bonnie & Clyde is the song for me! I also really like giants and especially the rock elements during the chorus but b&c just slaaaaaaaps!

I also like Giant more too but seems most of the western people prefer the second one
@@holee1341 Yeah I know, western people like uplifting songs while asian people like more meaningful ballads. CPOP is usually more soft tempo ballads.
The 2 songs are very different, but both are excellent. Much credit to her in composing it. Yuqi has such good depth to her voice, very full and rich. She could carry a rock band as the lead singer, very well. My bias in G-Idle!
Bonnie and clyde gives me Bonnie Tyler vibes, older people will know who she is.
Yuqi is amazing I really hope she get to sing this songs live in a tv show or a radio, we NEED a live versions of both songs

She climbs up to follow her light with her black hands, and the light that was chasing while she opened one eye for a moment leaves, and another light rises from below and takes her girl's gaze.
On her rooftop, the moment she meets a tree with light like fruit and puts her hand on it, the tree turns into her gun and shoots her girl.
The girl who comes to her senses sits on the floor with a broken mirror, but nevertheless she follows a little light and moves forward.
The grass and trees that were round in her childhood became pointed thorns, threatening, and the girl, who has nowhere to stay, runs to flee from her threat.
Her escape found by her girl is the door that sent herself there. But outside the door, it's a cliff with no place to step. It falls as it is, but falls deeper as it rises high.
A girl who barely wakes up but has no power to endure. Overwhelmed by her despair, she hid herself to protect her body from the threats around her. However, in that situation, the light that the girl was chasing came out of the girl's body, and the light she was chasing so far was not somewhere else, but she was herself in the mirror that the girl always carried.
Realizing this, the girl no longer hides or runs away from the things that threaten me and goes against it. A girl who has become a giant now stands tall enough to pass the attacks around her easily.

In the Giant MV, the girl is probably YUQI. She said that A Page contained the story she wanted YUQI to say. So she looked back at her words that YUQI had in the meantime. In most of her interviews, she and in her personal V app she almost always said'growth and hard work'. She said she'd try so she could be recognized by anyone. YUQI had a strong desire to be recognized.
At the same time as her debut, her much attention she received became her double-edged sword and she rather cut herself off.
She became the object of her observer, and she often became the object of criticism for things she had nothing to do with herself.
She seems so determined that she will be able to dull the arrows of blame if she grows up enough to be recognized by anyone. She seems to have thought that she should be recognized for her ability, not for the strength of others.
As if a sports player who has risen to the best position with his skills is not criticized for external issues that are not related to him,

Yuqi has a beautiful voice and I really enjoyed both songs. Looking forward to more of her solo stuff.
I really liked both of these a lot but for different reasons. This is the kind of western pop sound I can get behind, unlike On the Ground (no shade on Rosé though). I like the messaging and imagery in Giant, and the punchy guitars and drums are my jam. B&C is a total vibe though, something I'll just put on whenever and get hyped up to. And her crazy vocal range really came through a lot more in B&C.
Overall, really happy that we're seeing some stuff like this out of (G)I-DLE now that they're having a kind of crazy year. Sounds like we're not gonna have the team back together in Korea until after the summer, so I'll happily take more of this in the meantime. 😄

I like Bonnie & Clyde more. she sounds good in both, she even has a few high notes. There is a funny clip where Yuqi tries to sing either Minnie or Miyeon's part in a song and her voice just dies to due how high it is.
Yuqi can sign high, minnie & miyeon can’t reach her low notes
I once read that gidle’s vocal line is like a mini choir because of their different but complementary vocal range. They have it all and they harmonize so well.
@@kingkhaled7 Yuqi can't hit the highest notes of Minnie and Miyeon in a longer part. And yes Minnie and Miyeon can't also reach her low notes but Shuhua can if given more lines. That's why gidle has specific part in the song and without the other voice it feels incomplete
@@parkparkcouple9057 shuhua can’t support low notes tho ,, I’m responding to jared because he tried to make fun of Yuqi who’s alto for not reaching soprano highest note Yuqi has the widest range in 4th generation and can actually support her notes
@@kingkhaled7 Soyeon said Shuhua has wide range and I believe she can. Idk what happened behind the scenes but i think she still needs more training with her vocals. Yuqi is naturally given with the talent. But gidle lines aren't depending on the position at all. Main vocals sometimes get lesser lines than sub vocals. So it would be nice to see them each debut as solo

both songs are the type of song that could be played on the US radio all day long if and only if... anyway both are bop and should be doing much much better if there is big promotion and MVs for them. yep, many may prefer Bonnie and Clyde and I am no exception even I like them both.
I really liked Giant, the song's melody is nice I like that Giant is a sentimental song as opposed to the more rock or hard pop concept for Bonnie & Clyde

The video game Limbo! I come to kpop for Korean songs so I do get a little disappointed for full English ones
@@KpopPrince there is a Chinese version, in her mother tongue. Personally I feel it sounds better, the chorus is still English but her native lamguage kills. Just search Yuqi Weibo and click the first thing. Honestly wished she released in that form also to youtube but with all the anti-China sentiment in Korea and the world, she tries to live two lives now.

And before someone says anything, I think it's sad because she didn't composed or wrote B&C, she is the one singing, unlike Giant that she composed and wrote it with other people. Its sad, that people say stuff like "it's a better constructed song" and things like that, we have to think that this is her second song (first is "Lost", and no, I'm not counting "I'm the trend" because that's with Minnie, I'm counting the ones she did without a member) and she has room for improvement.
@@FranciscoMartinez-kg7ed I personally liked both songs, aswell as GIANT. Sure Bonnie & Clyde is the more catchy uplifting song, its easy to like that. But GIANT had more emotions to it and feels more empowering. I never take people seriously who have opinions about composition, Yuqi is a celebrated artist and composer herself, so she knows how to compose. A youtuber who has no experience in producing music has no right to comment about composition and should not to be taken serious.
