  • The thoughts and opinions here are solely mine and perhaps some who think the same. They are certainly not representative of Tosa breeders everywhere. I do want to be clear that although the breed is not for everybody, I disagree with the notion that the Tosa is a breed for nobody. As the Labrador shown illustrates, I believe anyone who educates themselves and commits to day-in-day-out consistency is going to have a great experience with any dog they get, Tosas included. Anyone without those commitments will have far more trouble, no matter the breed.
The Tosa is an amazing and wonderful breed, there is no need to make up myths and no good reason to malign these dogs. They can easily be the best dog anyone has owned in the hands of someone who can respect them and earn their respect. I've been proving that since the age of 16 years old.

The breeder is the one responsible for how the dog turns out. After all, he is the breeder. What is he breeding for, are there specific traits, or characteristics? Lee Robinson is the best example of a breeder.

Great nuanced info. I was the same way! I had I bred pythons (over 12 feet) and had Rotteweilers while in highschool/college but I was an extremely passionate person about it so my age wasnt an issue

Oh wow! I was never able to convince my parents on pythons above the ball python. I have a good friend who is super big in snakes, I love picking his brain on them! My wife already says no though, lol! (I have to ease her into it, lol!)

Excellent video. Thank you for taking the time and sharing your background. You seem to be very genuine and authentic.
23:30 - 24:23 the Labrador segment, would make an amazing RUclips-short. It’s under a minute long and it communicates so much information about dog breed stereotypes.
The look on your face when you’re about to explain the dog’s treatment plan to the Labrador’s owner says it all. 😂😂😂 (We have some good news and some bad news.)

Thank you for your kind words and encouragement! I appreciate it!
I had never thought about making that into a short! In all honesty, I'm still trying to figure out how those work, perhaps that would be a great start! (I couldn't hide that look though, huh? ROFL! 😅😅😅 )

They must have some bloodhound in the tosos because mine I couldn't get it to listen at all it would just put its nose to the ground and go

    Hello
Found your channel and just reviewed your website. I’m a cane corso owner. I love the corso breed. Can you explain any differences or similarities. I love to hike and camp. I take my girl corso (she is 7 yo) now camping and hiking. Would love to do the same with my new puppy.

Tosas do not have Bloodhound in them. Filas might, Tosas do not. Just because a dog has a good nose and a strong desire to follow it doesn't make it a Bloodhound. HOWEVER...
It is a well kept secret that Tosas could make fantastic tracking candidates. I have had a few that were so good they could track a man through the air when other dogs had to put their noses to the ground. Absolutely outstanding tracking prospects and if it is protection work or hunting they can be the scent and the catch dog all in one. This topic isn't brought up enough, thank you so much for mentioning it, I myself had forgotten. The best one at tracking I ever owned was a girl named Sarabi. This was a wonderful excuse to spend some time remembering her. Thank you.
