Amazing documentary, seriously great work. One minor gripe though (and not specifically aimed at this video) is the perceived value of BTC, for example early on you say the stolen BTC had a value of $5B which is technically correct but since crypto is a speculative game that is simply not true. If the owner had dumped $5B worth of BTC onto the open market it would have caused a collapse of the price, literally every BTC placed on the market would have caused the price to fall making it a losing game, the more you sell the less you get back, sell too much and everything collapses leaving you with nothing. I watch a lot of crypto journalism (shout out Coffeezilla) and this is a truth that I never hear anyone raise, monopoly money only has value as long as its seen as a limited commodity, the more that's available on the market, the less its worth by default.

Someone managed to OTC $5 billion worth of a semi illiquid shitcoin ($SHIB, granted they probably got less than 40% of its value) you could easily offload billions of dollars worth of BTC and have the market absorb it over time

As someone who only used BTC-e back in the day logging in one day and being greeted by an FBI logo and all crypto lost was a sad time. Its nice to see the background and understand what happened and why.
Not to mention that the MtGox trustees kept not only moving the goal post... they accepted and then forced everyone to redo the AML/KYC verification over and over as time passed most likely in hopes that people give up so they can keep more of the pie.
Amazing level of research, congrats this was epic!! And hats off to Mark for offering to give back the coins at their market value, if that indeed happens it will be quite a remarkable end to this story!

Great videos, really enjoying your content. You deserve many subscribers. A bit sad about that guy's situation too, ie. not being able to see his wife properly again, and his kids growing up without their parents.. Sad situation. At the same time, if it's true what he was accused of, that's a lot of cyber crime and theft...
He doesn’t get a real trial because these guys haven’t got enough prove. This trial will likely go on for years. And this is not right. He should get a legal chance to defend himself. He says he’s not guilty. They say he’s guilty. He should get a fair court trial. But the system is just corrupt.
My uncle gave me a Bitcoin in 2013 cuz i was travelling Europe. Iit was worth $150. I was annoyed because I couldnt easily convert it to money. then my cellphone was pickpocketed in a moshpit. Edit- My point is that I had no idea the value of it, and was annoyed I couldnt use it lol
What is the point of your statement. Your lost bitcoin gifted from your uncle and how you lost it while traveling Europe sounds a bit posh. I'm sure it hurt to lose but again how does your lost bit coin while mosh pitting in Europe relate. It sounds like you just want to recognize your voice has been heard. Well pointless or not it's been heard. Since you've been heard this round can you please keep comments that only relate to you to yourself. As at first I found i didn’t realise straight away we were moving on! Apart from that, everything else is great! :)
Moral of the story is that these guys who are running around stealing would have made a great deal more money, kept a great deal of more of the most valuable resource (time), and not missed the peace of a decent life with their families if had they just done good business instead of trying to fuck everyone over. Cheaters never truly win. Winners never cheat. Don't steal a dime when you can *earn* a dollar. Shame on these fuckheads.

Someone managed to OTC $5 billion worth of a semi illiquid shitcoin ($SHIB, granted they probably got less than 40% of its value) you could easily offload billions of dollars worth of BTC and have the market absorb it over time
Brilliant reporting!
Mark not coming in on the weekend. A true french.
couldnt have ever cared about runsecape but the quality of your latest vids made me go watch all o0f those too. so good crumb keep it up i see you clearing a mil for subscribers no problem
:) you're the best
Wild story! I always love the Bitcoin topics. I can't wait until they make these movies.
I knew I recognized you. Ty for the RuneScape and all the cool videos
I don't know how you can steal $50 billion, and then cry about your case.
this is the best documentary I've ever seen in my life
As someone who only used BTC-e back in the day logging in one day and being greeted by an FBI logo and all crypto lost was a sad time. Its nice to see the background and understand what happened and why.
When the FBI took over the site did all users permanently lose their balances?!
Mark had quite the redemption arc
man i love when crumb posts
Love your videos as always and this turn of content into cybercrime specifically has turned out beautiful. I'm going to school for cyber security administration and I have used a handful of your videos as source in our weekly discussions. My professor says he loves your videos!
Well people like you are the reason why threat actors can use vulnerabilities everyday.Hacking means finding smart solutions to problems and while the enemy does that you would desperately take your school book and would be wondering why there is nothing written to help you xD
Great Documentary! Well Done. Could not take my eyes off it from beginning to end.
Crumb! Been watching you for your RuneScape vids for a long time now. The new content with these short docs on other internet topics is phenomenal man. Will be sticking around for a long time 👏
Love you big man
@@Crumb Love u 2 man, hope life is good ❤️
Great videos, really enjoying your content. You deserve many subscribers. A bit sad about that guy's situation too, ie. not being able to see his wife properly again, and his kids growing up without their parents.. Sad situation. At the same time, if it's true what he was accused of, that's a lot of cyber crime and theft...
These videos are so good. i love these please never stop
Mental outlaw cameo
Damn those sell orders at 11:25 are absolute SNIPES
he should be let out of jail
Noooo
He doesn’t get a real trial because these guys haven’t got enough prove. This trial will likely go on for years. And this is not right. He should get a legal chance to defend himself. He says he’s not guilty. They say he’s guilty. He should get a fair court trial. But the system is just corrupt.
Always good when this guy uploads
See you again in 6 months king :)
Well sir you are a dingleberry
My dad bought 650 Bitcoin when they were 5 cents. Sold them at 18.5k 😊
@@Average_Ohio_Citizen_now 1 is worth 25k W trade
What is the point of your statement. Your lost bitcoin gifted from your uncle and how you lost it while traveling Europe sounds a bit posh. I'm sure it hurt to lose but again how does your lost bit coin while mosh pitting in Europe relate. It sounds like you just want to recognize your voice has been heard. Well pointless or not it's been heard. Since you've been heard this round can you please keep comments that only relate to you to yourself. Get some real life humans to interact with and be heard by someone who is capable of giving you what you need.
@@Average_Ohio_Citizen_my uncles dads friends cousin had that too
The best video format, thank you for the work you put into these. So enjoyable!
6 cents?? fml
Right, 66000 now from 6 cents

Dude u do such a good job with these documentaries! Keep giving us more!
the cia doesnt like when you do what the us government does
Huge thanks for breaking this down so well. I’ve been inspired to put out content like this on my channel too.
Inspiring! Do you think you can give me some advice on how to recover my stolen btc
Are you ready to solved right away ?? I have an expert for it.
I'm impressed with the thoroughness and professionalism exhibited by financial Source . above, particularly their depth of know ledge, focus, integrity,
Financial source is the solution to all surrounding lost social btc
It’s great to see how unique Financial source contributed to the outcome. The role he play on recovering my lost coin
Recovering lost btc in general seems like a mole to Finacial .source
Absolutely loving your content. May I recommend, when you are moving on to the next subject, maybe leave an extra second or so between the end of 1 subject and the beginning of a new one? As at first I found i didn’t realise straight away we were moving on! Apart from that, everything else is great! :)
First
Great job on your research and reporting. Love the work. Thank you. 👍
It’s a great day when Crumb uploads
Pls keep making these hacking stories i really enjoy them pls dont stop. W crumbs ❤
