He's much more favorable since he was a much more likeable character. He was characterized by his skill at melee, something rare in this series where Beam spam is rampant. He specifically pilots suits that are adept at eccentric style combat and he had character development. He was a much more rounded character than Kira.
I actually like this one better mainly because it has places to put the feet. The IJ model had me completely annoyed at how it was really a bit too small for his feet. This one also has the rather nice wing folding out effect that the IJ really lacked since it was only on the sliding joint.
see, it may suck in your opinion, but you clearly arent everyone, personally i found the games to be quite fun, not as good as the ACE games or dynasty warriors 4, so don't think that your opinion is the rule for how everything works

There is a disc type thing which you can get for the PS2 where you put the disc in, and it will play foreign games, or you can get a PS2 modchip.

Agreed. Which is a real pity b/c GSD could have been great, if only they'd either killed off Kira or left him out of it entirely.
