@@pritidolui6826 ofc age matters. when it comes to singing, it indeed makes a huge difference. as teens, our vocal chords are still developing and changing, and also our lungs usually aren't as big as it can get. Not to mention your tone isn't wide and mature enough which can (and normally does) implicated in some degree of that restricted childish tonality, some weak or restricted notes, and less range and/or less control of wtv range you have. and, of course, there's the simple matter of time to have practiced the craft. singing with a proper technique takes many years even decades of training, and the vast majority of people, by their teens, is still yet to develop their appropriate style, to control their musicality and to dominate the best technique for themselves. So they don't sound as great. See Beyoncé - one of the best pop vocalist of all time and greater technical vocalist of her generation by far - as a 18yo singer. you'll notice a LOT of problems that can be attributed to her (absolutely normal and understanble) artistic immaturity, even though she was already really good. Olivia is the BEST teenager pop vocalist I have ever heard in my live. of course there are exceptions, Olivia is clearly one of them. But, she's still has a LOT to grow and improve. I didn't mean that as a derogatory to teenagers, but as a observation as how incredible she already is despite her lesser time developing her singing skills. =)

The way she uses her voice is especially unique. I'm a sound engineer and I've heard many ways singers use their vocals. Her approach to singing is a breath of fresh air.

I agree & I think it's bc the version of this song that was released was very upbeat, teen rock/pop so the impact of the lyrics & how great they are, was lost. I specifically came looking for the acoustic version bc I knew it would be so much better & I was right. I'm an older millennial & this version practically has me in tears thinking abt my ex. The original did no such thing 🤷🏽♀️

When drivers license came out I really didn’t get the hype about Olivia (I’m in my 30s lol) but the more and more I hear songs, especially when she sings live, I’m so impressed by her talent. She seems like a sweet girl too.

her voice, and her messages in all of her songs... there is something just so special about it all, and how i can tell that what she's feeling when she's singing her songs is genuine. it's all just so special there aren't many words to describe it.
