"Lizzy280664," "Love hearing him in his own voice" - check.
"He was so cool" - check.
"And such and excellent actor" - check.
"This is brilliant" - NOT. The interviewer was poorly prepared; so EASILY got off track; worst of call -- came up short as far as having a line-up of "brilliant" questions.
How nice for David Janssen fans to see relaxed in this casual setting.

"backindeday3211," Re "Harry O" being yanked from its should-have-been third season on ABC -- when Warner Bros. Television had a handful of scripts commissioned and ready -- as broadcasting lore tells us, only ONE man in the entire universe was responsible for that outrage -- ABC's honcho Fred Silverman.
      David Janssen was devastated.

"JANSSEN1931," "Rare" - yes; "interesting" - not so much. Could have, SHOULD have been much, much better; e.g., for such a limited amount of time with the star, why devote so much time to his and "The Fugitive"'s appeal in Turkey?!

"patriciatulloch4252," This was an interview . . . but hardly a 'wonderful' interview. It being a time capsule, it's easy to get sentimental and everything becomes great or cherished. I wish the interviewer was better prepared and had better questions. For the limited amount of time he had with a star of the stature of David Janssen he didn't have to waste so much time about how the folks in Turkey are fans of "The Fugitive." And that closing line: "Well, you can always get / send a postcard" was . . . embarrassing.
He seemed to be on a roll with Janssen discussing "Harry O" -- I only wish he'd pursued that, e.g., comparing starring opposite Henry Darrow to Anthony Zerbe; filming in San Diego vs. Malibu and Burbank (Warner Bros. Studios); what WAS the reason behind its SHOCKING cancellation?
Those are questions Janssen would love to talk about -- different from the 100th time he's asked about "The Fugitive" -- and the audience would certainly learn something about him, his mindset and the workings of the Hollywood industry.l
Anyway, thank you for posting this clip, "But Wait . .. . .There's More!"
      R.I.P. David Janssen, 1931 - 1980

"patriciatulloch4252," " . . . wish we could see more of his work on TV in England." Right; so many from all over feel the same way.
Buying the Warner Archive DVD sets of "Harry O" was one of my better investments for a home library and certain episodes' repeat viewings. In the states public libraries have sections devoted to DVDs of classic movies and television programs. You just might luck out and find one locally with "Harry O." Good Luck!

Perhaps the best private detective series in television history, and it only went for 2 seasons. Jansen was perfect as the world weary lead, and such a stark contrast from the more sensitive, often desperate character he played in "The Fugitive."

@@michaelares4240 On the contrary, no, he was rougher -- yelling at Manny (Henry Darrow) and Trench (Anthony Zerbe), admittedly sometimes when they needed yelling at. But, we never saw THAT side of Janssen on "The Fugitive." In addition, he was more casual and sometimes callous about his bed mates on "Harry O". Look at the way he treated Margot Kidder and Marianna Hill in 'Such Dust as Dreams Are Made Of' and even sweet, ultra curvy and sexy 'Betsy,' Kathrine Baumann's stewardess neighbor for three episode mid-season of year one. Richard Kimble never would have treated Suzanne Pleshette's, Susan Oliver's, Vera Miles', etc. guest star characters on "The Fugitive" like that.

If you don't mind subtitles, the Turkish drama Gonulcelen is 112 forty eight minute episodes that are crazy good, funny and very well acted. Unfortunately, the ending (last three episodes) is a bit goofy. Watching this well-conceived and acted television show from Turkey makes it very easy to see why they loved David Janssen and The Fugitive series.
