Great to see them growing so well unprotected. Not surprised really they do so well. Close to the sea and freezing temps will be shortlived. Main thing that surprises me is how they cope with the sea spray. Yucca rostratas planted locally near the beach near Sunderland look really damaged and clearly don't respond well to that salt. Indoors north of that at my place two miles inland they thrive without protection but importantly without the salt effect
Morning all. Lovely little seafront find there. I was just thinking if you had Southport Fernery on your list to visit. It's not huge but any of your followers who are Pteridophiles will love it. Plenty of Aroids, Begonia, Palms and Bananas too
@@greatnorthernexotic Ness is part of the University campus which I work at, there was a full time job advertised last Christmas which sounded amazing, gutted I never threw an application in now :')
Looks like a great place to visit
Some fantastic plants in the municipal gardens for sure. Much more exciting than what we can grow up here! 😂
Huge argaves and canary date palms same as the Mediterranean ❤
Definitely had that vibe with temperatures in the 30s!

Yeah I always wondered to what extent we can think of these plants as resilient to sea spray. It seems to be working well for them here!

It's on my list to visit for sure, along with Ness Botanic Gardens which is also nearby.
