Probably the most evil cliffhanger on all RUclips. Specially with this build up. I was constantly watching the timer, trying to estimate the chance of getting to see the results in this video. About halfway through I accepted that the video would just end with the blast. But than he got me excited when the video skipped to next morning with a couple of minutes left. Pure evil xD
Everyone has an opinion and mine is based on his presentation. Maybe he isn't a full time he is and has always been a great teacher with gold recovery and now opening his old mine.
You can use wet newspapers as stemming and pack it like your charges. It helps deliver the gasses and pressures to your material for an efficient detonation. Without stemming, you lose 40% of your charge efficiency and can cause a fault in your blasting or larger boulders.
That ending was straight out of TV soap opera hand book.. perfect way to get me to tune in next week to see the results. well done and congratulations Jason and the crew.
There are not many channels I actually get excited about, but this Mining Series from Jason is just captivating. No Drama, No fighting, just mining at its best. Please Please Please keep these coming.
Got to respect the pure muscular strength it took to use that drill! But the old time miners must have been absolute beasts, to be able to drill those holes with muscle alone. And your explosives are a century worth of scientific study to to pack the maximum BOOM in those fairly small sticks! Congratulations, gentlemen! I'm seriously looking forward to your next video.
As a blaster/powder man, it's been a dream of mine to drill and blast my own underground hard rock mine. Finding gold would just be a bonus. Thank you so much for sharing your journey.
Those oldtimers are right there with you Jason! I'm sure they are throwing 👍, and cheering the moment that drill started! You're keeping mining legacy alive, and the history of this mine continues with you!
I can't believe how you make something that's so hard to do look so much fun. I love your passion and I feel honored that you're willing to share all of this with us and tell us your story. Kudos to you and Mine Operator for doing things by the book and showing the world what small scale gold mining is.
14:55 Many Eons ago, working as a mine level geologist at Noranda Bathurst 12, after reviewing the past geology work done and core logs, I found that someone had planned the placement of pillars in the wrong places. Initiated approval for a sampling program and in fact found the highest grade ore in the mine at a time of falling metal prices. Each day when I came up in the cage, I got a lot of comical comments, for I was BLACK from head to toe from the sulphides. It took a week, but it was very rewarding to prove up that high grade. Ground up sulphides smells like Sulphur! Some of the comments, What the hell did you get into? Like what you ask your dog when he shows up after running away, and stinks to high heaven, and you wanna pressure wash him. Hell of a smart idea to sample while drilling, try using some thin flexible rubber matting attach to a container or a plastic milk jug cut so you can grip the handle. The concept is to get as close to the hole as possible, to get the fine gold and pieces that have balled up. Thats logical, Spock said to Jim!
13:25, while true, I may never go deep mining or blasting or putting underground stoles and portals up, crushing, etc you've taught me SO much about geology, and just really great information that can open up tremendous amounts of pathways in life, even as a hobbyist. Its come to the point where i drop all im doing to watch your guys' videos to learn about this stuff and see what you all experience down there- As youre standing up to your ankles in water, having your whole bodies vibrating to its core, and risking your lives to do this, it makes me really think about how primitive mining is for humans and how much of an incredibly valuable skillset it is to know and do, and to just see the progress of these tunnels over generations from hand tools to pneumatics and electronics, its awesome to see us facing off against the earth still
There is something wholesome about a bunch of grown dudes, living out their childhood dream, loving life, and having a good time working together. This country needs more of this attitude.
Hey Jason. As an Air Leg Miner in Australia, love to see the different ways we do this job. just remember the smell that the gold gives up when your drilling and you will always know when your in the good stuff
My grandfather was a prospector in the Arizona and Nevada area. I've heard stories about mining as a kid that makes me appreciate the work you've put into this. It's not easy if you don't have deep pockets to draw from, that's for sure. Fingers crossed you get the return we all dream of when watching this! If the reports hold true, and the vein doesn't pinch behind the shot, the work you've put in should pay out very handsomely. Looking forward to the next video. And thank you for bringing us along!!
On a trip to Juneau Alaska, we got to go into the AJ Mine and hear from a retired drill operator how things worked and how many miles and miles of tunnels were under that mountain. He even fired up a rock drill for us and showed us how they drove a powered mucking shovel to load the mine carts. Very loud and very fortunate to see this work in person. Thank you, Jason and the team, for sharing this with the world.
I worked for the contractor, Centennial Development, that worked the AJ for Echo Bay Mines in 1991. I also worked at the Kensington twice during the early nineties. Good times.
The part of the tour that shocked me the most was that the drill operator said he drilled two and sometimes three face shots a day. He'd drill, pack and go to lunch. They would shoot the face, give the dust time to settle clear the muck and repeat. Granted the tunnels were much bigger and he had powered tools, but still... Seeing these videos really showed how hard mine work is.
What you are doing is documenting and informing, as you mentioned, to those that will never experience what you are recording. I am from a coal mining family. So am familiar to mines, terminology, workings and being underground. That part of my life finished around 1987. Keep up the hard and good work. I can see and feel the passion. From New Zealand.
Hey Jason... I can only imagine the anticipation all of you had while trying to sleep to wake up and check the results that took a 100 years to happen! Great series and "good on ya" for documenting the whole 'shabang' for others to gleen and (virtually) experience what goes into mining. 👍👍👍
Oh Boy Jason, you had to make us wait to see the muck. Seriously, this is as real as it gets, taking us on this Blasting journey to reveal the gold from this magnificent vein. I am so excited for you and your crew. All this hard work, for this day. Just fantastic. Thanks again Jason. Your channel is the Bomb! Literally.
We're all proud of you Jason, and happy for you! Way to keep the old ways alive and share them with the next generations. Thank you for sharing this journey with us!
As someone new-ish to your content I was rather certain it was in your blood after only seeing a handful of videos, but this confirmed it. The talks concerning your own history with this underground and standing upon the shoulders of giants gave me goosebumps man. You don't hear comments with gravity like that from folks who are only connected with their work on a mere physical level. You all have worked hard, the old hands would approve I'm sure. Thanks for showing so much of the whole process and cycle, but especially the drilling. Air leg mining in western US hardrock is absolutely a lost art that is proving exceptionally difficult to keep above the evening horizon. Wishing you luck from the Rockies, stay safe! Super interested to see how your shot went in the next one...
Have been watching along throughout this whole series and it's so exciting to see this moment come to fruition! Hearing you speak on, "What this moment means for me", it's kind of hard not to get a little emotional about it. Truly a beautiful story and all of us here that have been coming with you on this journey are so thankful and lucky that you've documented the process so that we may be a part of it as well.
I can't wait for part 2. Dam nice...I could never sleep after that shot, I would have slept right there at the mine or stayed up all night dreaming. Thanks for sharing this life changing adventure.
Hi Jason I’m a retired UK shot blaster. Just a couple of tips . You need to tidy your wires up . If you have a miss fire it will make it easier to sort our . Also in the UK we pack behind the charge with stemming. That’s basically clay . You hold the charge wires tight . Then put clay in the hole with a broom handle. Tapping it gently so you don’t damage the wires . It will make a massive difference to your fragmentation. Also you don’t need has much explosives .
This is quickly becoming my go to gold prospecting channel along with AJW. Thank you once again Jason and the Mine Operator team for taking the time to show the journey of how you resurrected an old mine. It really is top notch stuff
OMG, I can't believe how rich that vein is - the amount from that drill hole is mind blowing. Also didn't realize how fast the drill punches into the rock!
Well done Jason!! I discovered your channel because of Cerro Gordo and when you visited Brent. So happy you did and even happier I have a chance to follow and share in your dreams.
OMG…Holy Cow.. this is a Hugh jump in educating us about hard rock mining. I can’t wait to see the future videos. Thanks for sharing this Jason and friends.
Love how there are these small scale operations going in and cleaning out these old mines. I know here in my state they have started similar small operations going after copper in the old mines.
I held my breath and counted during the blast. And my heart is pounding within my chest. I can only imagine the amounts of emotion one would experience in person. Thanks so much for allowing me to follow your progress. Looking forward to future videos. 🙏❤️🌲
Sweet guys ! The more u do the more we learn. Thank you for your experience and complete expertise of knowledge shared, rock on crew, bring out the shinny ! More power 2 you jason....
I'v worked underground and these videos bring back so many good memories. The technique is pretty much the same as what we would do in Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺
Im going to school right now for Geology at UCSB always been fascinated about natural resources. Your work is such a huge inspiration to me been watching your videos for a little over a year and a half now! You got one cool office space out there😎 those miners of the past definitely were watching over ya probably even learned a thing or two! Haha
I can honestly say I’m a placer miner through and through and will never delve into hard rock mining, but… this series is about as fascinating as it gets. Thanks for letting us follow along.
When I first started following you, Jason, you were just promoting your turnkey systems. To see you develop to this level of mining has been a dream come true. Thanx so much for letting me come along on this incredible adventure. Legend!
Flipping Fantastic! Made the decision to stay home this morning and process material instead of going up to the mine. I now can't stop thinking about it. LOL such great work MBMM and Mine Operator!
Outstanding Work! I'm honestly very happy for you. This has been one of the best series I've ever watched. Every Sunday, for weeks, I've had this little bump of excitement to see what comes next. Until this week, I had no idea this was such a meaningful project for you. I thought it was just the first time you showed your mining process. Thank you for sharing all your hard work!
Great video, thanks. As a young guy looking for a paycheck, I worked for six months in 1974 on the Black Bear vein (ten hundred level) in the Idarado Mine on Red Mountain Pass, Colorado. I was basically a rookie trammer, but also filled in occasionally for the slusher, and even helped the driller in the stope for a couple hours once or twice. My memories of the stope: loud, cramped spaces, wet, wrestling the drill on bad footing, and lots of yelling. Despite the downsides (cold, wet, strenuous work), those six months were some of the most special of my 77 years so far.
WOW.Thia is sooo cool. You guys ROCK. Love the history you bring to the show...both personal and earlier. Love Love LOVE your adventure . Thanks for bringing us along . Stay Safe my Brothers.!!!
So exciting! Congratulations Jason and crew on your first shot of many. You guys are amazing. I hope you find bucket loads of the shiny stuff. Love your videos Jason. They are so educational. Thank you for posting.
When you said you're standing on the shoulders of all the miners & prospectors since 1925, I got chills thinking of all that's had to happen to bring us to this point in time. I could not be more proud to be one of your subscribers, and I just want to say THANK YOU so much for making your RUclips family a part of this awesome venture. I hope to be able to buy some of that MBMMLLC gold someday soon!
Amen brother on everything that you said! Nice job guys and special thanks to you Jason! Your Dreams of a Teenager just came to Fruition! Hard Rock Gold Mine Boss! You did it! Congratulations ⚒️ Peace Prospector Tripp
i love this, really smart to take a cuttings sample as well. I like how you said "i may not be right, and some of you have learned differently, but this is how i learned it" with the premise of just getting as much information as possible to still be safe about this. You can mine an orebody so many different ways, the one that works best for you and still makes money is goal
Right, it all about the process. Glad to see you are living the dream. Those old miners are watching your every step as you follow that vein. The NW is full of adventure!! Almost stopped by your shop last week.
Jason you've got all your ducks lined up, now it's mucking time.,.. I'm really proud of you, doing a life time dream, your blessed with talent, now it's AU time! ⚒️💪⚖️🥂🤠
Thanks!
Thank you so much! Your support means a lot
You are welcome.
What a cliff hanger! I cant wait to see what it looks like!
Boy howdy that was almost Hollywood style cut out great work 👍
I'm on pins and needles waiting for the next video 😮
Was at work all day with this on watch later....said the same thing tho 20 min ago...fresh material won't be a dull moment

MBMM Gold Discovery Channel....the real deal ! THANK YOU JASON FOR BRINGING US ALONG. Number one mining youtube channel
Jason is tied with ask Jeff Williams and Dan Hurd
Jason won that contest when he blasted gold in his latest adventure !
@@SCW1060 Jeff Williams absolutely but Dan Hurd lmfao! 🤣 He's a good and very smart businessman but isn't a miner.
Everyone has an opinion and mine is based on his presentation. Maybe he isn't a full time he is and has always been a great teacher with gold recovery and now opening his old mine.
Go Jason and the whole crew. Big on safety , hard work and smiles chasing a chilhood dream. Love to see it, more please :)

Amen
You can use wet newspapers as stemming and pack it like your charges. It helps deliver the gasses and pressures to your material for an efficient detonation. Without stemming, you lose 40% of your charge efficiency and can cause a fault in your blasting or larger boulders.
You only need stemming around the cut if it wants to be blowing out and sometimes the lifters, the last to blow to lift the muck.
That ending was straight out of TV soap opera hand book.. perfect way to get me to tune in next week to see the results. well done and congratulations Jason and the crew.

This by far my favorite series on youtube right now. I've watched so much stuff on mining on the years, but nothing quite like this.
