Seth - Regarding the building you are planning, it sounds like a good situation for a two story building with ground level access at both floors. If the intended use is a honey house you might consider making the upper level for extraction and the lower level for honey storage and bottling. This way you won't need a pump to get the honey from the clarifier into storage. Gravity does the work for you. I can't take credit for this brilliant idea. Another beekeeper friend told me that he has a plan to do this in his honey house revamp. Just thought I'd pass it along.
Bob - Thank you for all you are doing to convey your wealth of knowledge and wisdom to the rest of us. Your videos are regularly playing on my jobsites as I try to grow my beekeeping knowledge. I then take this advice into my bee yard and try to turn that knowledge into a skill as I apply what I have learned. I have a long way to go but you, and others like you, make it accessible. So thank you very much!

Probably got started the best way possible meaning working for someone else first. Some people find waking up to an alarm clock for the boss easier than waking up for theirself, I don't know why that is but not everyone can get out of bed on their own time. As long as he doesn't forget the bees are boss he will be ok. And don't get too big too soon. "the bees will let you know if you have too many", said Ian Steppler

Seth I'm in the same position as far as getting into to bees. I went from 13 yo 60 couple. My mentor told me that you need to maintain a full time job until the bees can carry you. He has been keeping bees since he was 8 years old and renting bees since he was 15. He's 86 and still doing. although he was on Vaca. this week and fell and cracked his hip in South Carolina 2 days ago. I'm hoping he's going to be ok. Good Luck.

Good luck to him in the future. It was great having a Amish family build the Boxs and wax dip them as well as make the 2 ways. This year had a honey house with 200 frame extractor and a large shed with a thermo system built. Tomorrow we OA and again Friday. Then saturday the Girls go in shed till spring being temps are getting cold up here. Take care BOB Sir

You should get ahold of that tuck bee lady be very interesting interview. She makes living queen rearing .. building her own equipment about as low budget possible . She's 100% chemical free .. part of the year she's up in New York then most the year in Florida .. she's kinda reserved guys treat her poorly at times I've noticed not easy being lady doing things differently than men making them look bad .. I know she tried joining in some queen rearing pages on Facebook but guys didn't treat her like a lady kinda nasty really.. men flapping they're wings like roosters because she has her own methods .. I see her queens they are big old fat bugs so shes doing something that works. Friend on fb. Just a idea .. not sure if she does RUclips or not
