The gigantic dinosaur Decepticon in Season 3 of G1 is Trypticon, a Titan who was Metroplex's evil counterpart and rival. He's been in various other media as well, though not to the same extent as Metroplex.
Energon's Japanese name was Super Link, which was the main gimmick of the toyline for it, the Autobots could all combine with each in pairs to create various super-robots, and later on Optimus Prime was able to become a Scramble City-style combiner with four other Autobots.
Armada, Energon, and Cybertron formed the Unicron Trilogy.

Those series are TF: The Headmasters, TF: Super-God Masterforce, TF: Victory, TF: Zone (all of these came after Season 3 of G1 I think), Beast Wars II, Beast Wars Neo, TF: Car Robots (2001 RiD), TF: Micron Legend (Armada), TF: Superlink (Energon), TF: Galaxy Force (Cybertron), TF Go! (Came after TF: Prime Season 2). Fun fact, in Japan, Optimus Prime was called Convoy in the early TF series until from Animated onwards they start referring to him officially as Optimus Prime. Even some characters have different names from their american counterparts. And the Autobots and Decepticons were called Cybertrons and Destrons respectively. And planet Cybertron was called Seibertron during those time. There's even a character that looks identical to Optimus Prime but is not Optimus at all I think called God Ginrai. RID01 is not part of the Unicron Trilogy. Hasbro needed a show and toyline to bridge the gap between Beast Machines and Armada after the former didn't perform so well. Luckily, Takara made Car Robots in 2000 for the Japanese market and so Hasbro just brought it and it's toyline over in 2001 as Robots in Disguise. This was originally a duology, but for some reason Hasbro decided to put a scene with characters from Energon and Armada in the English dub of Cybertron for some unknown reason. I’d say for tying up loose end’s sake you should check Rescue Bots out…the events in that series take place during TFP & even the R.I.D. you’re checking out now.
Small spoiler, but if you recall in season 1 of R.I.D. how Bumblebee was struggling to find a catchphrase…in one episode he said “Roll to the Rescue” then said “Wait, someone’s already using that one”…well, just listen to the theme song for Rescue Bots again lol

Armada is actually the start of the Unicron Trilogy, Hasbro tried to make Cybertron the end of the Unicron Trilogy but they failed because the Japanese series they dubbed over the footage wasn't at all related to the prior two seasons.

Rescue Bots is pretty worthless, it's aimed at Pre Schoolers and as such there are no big battles with Decepticons, the premise of Contentious Objectors is really the only thing that could even be considered mature

I think the Unicron trilogy was Armada, Energon, and Cybertron. They fought him in Armada, then Energon had Primus and Optimus vs Megatron and Unicron, and Cybertron was stopping the black hole created from the destruction of Unicron. Loved Transformers Prime.

My favorite intros would be Armada (without the opening monologue), with Beast Hunters as a runner-up, and Robots in Disguise for nostalgic reason because it was my first transformers series. I just the upbeat intros, gets me hyped for the action of the series.
My favorite series is Prime. Seriously, the best series yet in my opinion.
My favorite characters are SideSwipe, Arcee, and Prowl, with Optimus as an honorable mention.

Resuce Bots is very kid friendly, but not annoyingly so. Since in canon, the characters literally missed the whole war, it makes sense they are softer natured and more hopeful. It's more a fish out of water deal and more comedic but still fun enough for older than the target demo.

    Notes--
    1. Cybertron is part of the armada universe.
    2. Points for the "all intros" having the first s3 intro that many "all intros" videos miss but loses points for no s5 intro so it's not "all intros".
    3. First rid is called car robots in japan and has a mix of vehicle and beast forms. It's a more lighthearted show but does have dark parts at times. It aired on fox I think.
    4. You should react to the japan intros next time.

The thing with g1 is the consistency of the continuity. It changes from season to season. The unicron trilogy was: armada, energon, and cybertron. Same characters, more or less, with different forms, but it’s just a continuation, obviously. It’s a better trilogy than most movie trilogies.
Edit: right the prime wars trilogy! And the other machina runs! There was a death in one that really hit me hard.

  • @medafan53
    @medafan53 3 месяца назад

G2 is literally just a selection of G1 episodes rebranded with a new opening and some new scene transistions. After the Rebirth 3 parter after season 3, the next new bit of Transformers media in the west was Beast Wars.
RID 01 Isn't Unicron Trilogy, that's Armada, Energon and Cybertron, RID was a japanease Import to keep Transformers on the screens while they prepared Armada, though numerous elements that we see in the trilogy are first seen in RID.

It’s not as serious as other shows but it’s a great watch and does have some higher-stakes episodes every now and then, plus literally all the characters are great and very memorable, I really recommend it! :D
    EDIT:
Thought I’d add that Earthspark isn’t the most liked for character designs and the “very light story” but honestly, I love it
It focuses quite a lot on themes of family, trust, support, and it’s really really sweet imo
Also, people who say it’s childish or very light clearly haven’t given it a shot cuz HOLY BANANAS this show gets depressing at times, and don’t get me started on the fight scenes, THEY ARE LITTERALY 🔥FIRE🔥 and the season finally was awesome af too :)
I think more people should give it a chance

G1 is iconic and genuinely quite good with a lot of fun moments but being an 80s cartoon has less continuous storytelling, Beast Wars is great, Cyberverse is definitely my favorite of all the ones you haven’t watched, Rescue Bots is surprisingly good, Armada is good, The Prime Wars Trilogy is cool and has some fun ideas but I don’t really like it (it’s pretty short though so I think I still recommend it), and I haven’t really watched the others

I'll be with people who's going to recommend Cyberverse again! It was my second transformers show after Prime, and well, at first it was really hard to adapt for something such new, but it really worth it. Especially worldbuilding, how Cybertron looked before and after war, other planets and such things. This show can be a huge mood swings and it really worked for me.
Now I'm checking G1 at my free time and it's much better than I thought, looking forward to your reaction! Boobie traps are great.

The main problem with Robots in Disguise 2015 is that it's a sequel that seemingly has no interest in being a sequel. Any time it references Prime, it feels like it's doing so more out of obligation and not because it wants to. Bee mentions Jack, Raf, and Miko ONCE in passing TO HIMSELF. Evidently, they were supposed to appear, but it just never happened for whatever reason. At the very least, you'd think Fowler and the military would've caught on to transformer activity starting back up again. Maybe then they wouldn't have to operate out of a divorced father's junkyard, using sub-par equipment. Heck, Bulkhead and Ratchet show up for episodes that aren't even about them! Bulkhead doesn't even ask about Miko! Just like Bumblebee doesn't try to track down Raf.

Armada, Energon and Cybertron are the unicron trilogy, however Cybertron went through some issues and was different in that it was part of the trilogy but some of the story was changed up so its a little inconsistent with the first two series, so its basically an alternate story to what was planned.

G1 and underrated are 2 words that rarely go together. The company spent what felt like a decade milking G1 and the fans continued to eat it up for those years
