    As a complete beginner, I can say that this is the best video on learning the serve. You've distilled the serve into just a few key points, exactly what an awkward beginner needs. I found that after serving 100 balls that my consistency had improved enormously. I was beginning to see what you meant about "tossing" the ball to the other side, plus, I think I actually see a kind of rhythm developing. Thank you so much!

    THANK YOU! I used to be a 3.5 but after 2 years of not playing due to a hip injury and subsequent replacement my muscle memory has abandoned me. :( I started venturing onto a court a couple of weeks ago and found that my serve was totally 'yipped' and I am very frustrated and disheartened. Watching your video explained exactly what I was doing wrong. Can't wait to try your technique this afternoon! Hope!! Thanks again- excellent, simple, well explained video!

    Seems like all the power is coming more in your leg and hips

      Exactly those are more consistently powerful muscles. Even if your arms were as strong there is more variation in their path which could cause us to miss our target more often 👍

      So happy it’s helping you a bunch Richard! More videos coming soon! The editing was too time consuming to do as a side gig but I’ve brought on a professional editor and will be releasing many more soon! 🤘

      That’s awesome you’re going to be making new video’s! You’re a great instructor and easy to follow. I’m really struggling with consistency in forehand and backhands. Maybe something about those are in the works? I am watching your video about hitting a slice.😊

    What grip pressure do you use on serve? How do keep a firm wrist ? I started choking up on paddle , seems keep my wrist little more stable? Still have tendency to hit a little to right and left when I miss and seems like my wrist is just moving a hair.
    How you get consistent ball drop , meaning how far in front and location in front of which foot?
    Do ball location drops vary when serving from even or odd sides?

    • @Pickleball_Health
      @Pickleball_Health  Год назад

      Great questions Mike! I use a normal grip pressure that I use for regular drives so about a 6/7 out of 10. As a general rule, additional grip pressure provids stability and power but lacks in touch for short shots. But considering a serve is as far away as it gets it’s ok to give it a healthy squeeze to keep your wrist and arm stable. My wrist isn’t locked locked but it is firm enough and doesn’t release until the point of contact with the ball. Almost like how you would throw a baseball. Firm until you release and let the wrist go. I drop the ball in front of my left foot and I don’t vary anything from one side to the other to keep things consistent. Depth on the serve is key so whatever helps you find consistent depth is the best 🤘

    Does Your 'Rockin" paddle come in red as shown in this video? The picture on Roosportz doesnt show one side being red.

      The one side red was an early prototype but I preferred the brown les Paul on both sides! So it comes with both sides as the brown les Paul! 🤘 thanks for asking!

    Excellent video. This video is one that I recommend to Beginners and Advanced Beginners. I like the "keep it simple" philosophy. Once they have this master, they can move on to putting more power and/or spin to their serves. Thanks for posting it.

    Hi Dustin! Just started learning pickleball. I am having difficulty making the serve. Often times they are too long, or sometimes too short. I’m going to give your technique a go. Thanks!

      @@Pickleball_HealthI’m watching your post again. I’m still working on my serve. It’s getting better but I still can’t aim well. I do step back when I serve. Do you have any instructional video for return of serve? I’ve often hit it out of court.
      I like your paddle…

    It might sound cheesy but just started playing and I’m a believer in the game. It has been a great addition to improving my lifestyle as well as my outlook on things. I was 36 when I medically retired from the military and lifestyle adjustment was kind of hard to find something to keep me busy, on top of rehabilitation for my back and multiple foot surgeries, among other things. Videos like yours gives me motivation to improve. Keep up the great work.

    Great video. Been playing awhile , developed some bad habits. Need to simplify my technique. Does the small back swing cause any negatives?

    • @Pickleball_Health
      @Pickleball_Health  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Mike! Only drawback from the short backswing would be less power IF we aren’t using our legs and shoulders enough. (Which we should be since they are more accurate muscles). Focus on depth first, then once consistently landing deep we can start adding more power back in with slightly more backswing if we can keep the depth and consistency 🤘

    • @mikepetrandis8525
      @mikepetrandis8525 2 года назад

      @@Pickleball_Health Thanks, my consistency and accuracy are not where it should be after four years playing. I am planning to work hard on this technique.
      I don’t really have yips, but I will miss a serve a game sometime and May go five games without missing one and get in tournament and miss two in first game. Real inconsistent.
