    I have a pair of these as well. They serve their purpose while I save for a upgraded version of moving heads.

    I think they used this moving head at the Center Stage Dance show and contest. I was in a couple of songs. In 2012, I was in one and in 2013, I was in 3 and they stayed in Show mode three dmx controlled. White blinking lights at 1.5 speed with the light staying down is one song dmx controlled that I remember.

    These lights are ok! I Own two of them , but you need at least 4 to get good coverage, so I uusally use two of this Spot moving heads along with two Adj On-x for better coverage or 4 Mini wash moving heads 7x10.

    • @DJHuckmonkey
      @DJHuckmonkey  3 года назад +1

      I too was thinking about doubling them up to get the coverage. I have a couple mini wash movers as well inside my totems. I use them inside the totem skrims to wash the floor in front of the booth because the built in strobe effect is too strong to use them elswhere.
      At least until I get more into DMX.

      @@DJHuckmonkey Its no so difficult to control them by dmx, mate, the first time you programm them its a little tedious because you have to go step by step but after that its quite easy. I use the regular dmx controller, but isually use two controllers, one for every fixture at the dance floor and the other for Uplighting. I also have Usb dmx interfase but i don really like to trust too much in a computer for that task, I prefer old fashion way.

    • @DJHuckmonkey
      @DJHuckmonkey  3 года назад +1

      @@VJCarlosAcosta I do have an old manual dmx controller. I can make it work, just need to learn how to program some scenes.

    • @VJCarlosAcosta
      @VJCarlosAcosta 3 года назад +1

      @@DJHuckmonkey yeah mate go ahead, I started learning dmx programming because the effects in the fixtures pre programmed by default kinda s**ck, i had this problem that was quite difficult to achieve the same color and movement at the same time, they usualy make every color ramdomly and that is not good at a wedding for example. And you also have the strobing problem, they start strobing like crazy sometimes. So Dmx is my way to go now. once you learn there is no way back. There are a lot of tutorials that could help you in youtube.

      I will do. Thanks for the encouragement. It's been on the list. Think I'll have to bump it up the list, and see if I can get it down before everything opens up I think would be a good goal. Maybe I'll vlog my progress, and help/inspire others to figure it out with me.

    new sub man I own a pair of these before they were awesome nice and bright elevated the dance light show the only thing I didn't like about them was that without DMX you could not control the pan or tilt angles. And honestly when I'm DJing I don't want to mess around DMX so I just sold them. I kinda wish i had kept them lol they were cool

      @doctormasterdevil 3 года назад +1

      What I didnt like was that it was shining back towarda me most of the time. Without control of dmx. But overall pretry good

    • @DJHuckmonkey
      @DJHuckmonkey  3 года назад

      Thanks for the sub!
      They do have the different built in show modes that that allow you to control which direction they shine. You can set them up to only shine upwards, and forward of house. I only use master/slave to achieve everthing in this video. No DMX controller. You're correct you can't control the exact angle, but you can set them up in preset modes that are meant put the show in the general area that you want it.

      @@DJHuckmonkey thats awesome. These must be an impr9ved model. The ones I got about 2 years ago didnt do that. All show modes basically did a 360

      Ahh, yeah that definitely isn't ideal. Kind of along the lines of wash lights with strobe built in that can't be turned off. Pretty much renders them useless.

    You keep saying 50w yet the title of the video is 80w so which is it?

    • @DJHuckmonkey
      @DJHuckmonkey  3 года назад +1

      The unit uses a total of 80 watt to function, while the light output is 50 watt. The manufacturer calls it 80watt, which is diceptive. That is why I clarify that the light output is actually 50 watt while the units total power consumption is 80 watt.

      Note: always hit "enter" after changing a setting to "save" the setting.

    Are they worth the money and is the sound mode ok

    • @DJHuckmonkey
      @DJHuckmonkey  3 года назад

      I think they are great for small to medium corporate events, parties, and that kind of thing. Maybe smaller weddings. If you plan on getting into more high end weddings and corporate, then I'd suggest maybe saving up for higher quality.
      The sound mode is pretty good vs. other budget lighting in sound mode. But to get the most out of them in sound active, definitly run them in master slave. And I like to set the slave fixture in "slave mode 2", and reverse the pan to add some more variety to the show. This way it mimics the master unit, but in opposite direction, but slave mode 2 makes them do a mix of synchronized and opposing movements. When set up like that it makes the sound active mode alot more interesting. Over time it does get repetitive, but I think that's more from my perspective than the customers perspective, just because I see them in action more than the customer does.
      I haven had any quality issues with them, so I think they are worth it that way.
      Bottom line, if you plan on using them for a year or two to get you started, I think they are worth it, as they should hold up, and provide a fairly interesting sound active mode once you get it set up. But if you're already well into your DJing career and doing larger, higher end events, it might be worth it to go with something a little higher end.
      Hope that helps
