The Comedian treachery of the Minsk Accords doesn't warrant him peace on his terms. He gambled his nation and prople's lives, and he lost. He has lost the world's sympathy for his cause and should accept his fate.
When you vote a comedian as your president your country 100% will become a laughingstock for the rest of the world
Ethnic Russians who were oppressed have the right to self-determination. New reality: Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson oblasts have held referendums.
The citizens in these regions voted to join Russia. Any future peace negotiations will take into account the "new realities".
High time for media to stop using the word " annexed" and start using the word " LIBERATED" which represent the truth.
Ukraine should surrender unconditionally and reveal the truth on NATO after all they were used.
Zelensky and the rest of them are monsters for forcing this war on Ukrainians that never had any chance to win or any real need to fight at all.
After 700,000 people, mainly soldiers that lost their lives Zelensky wants territories back. It's like a comedian with two black eyes is claiming to have won the war. Give us a break Zelensky and go do something useful, you could have avoided all this

It was in theory to cripple Russia in 60 days and force Russia to withdraw from Ukraine and seek peace within 90 days. He was promise the world in the way of weapons to get through this period little knowing there were major flaws in the sanction package and it would be an extended war.

Most Japanese cities before and during WWII were built out of wood. During spring summer the US has bombed Japan into oblivion with mass destruction and mass casualties. The effect was much greater than what nuclear bombing later did. I think the narrative that the use of nuclear weapons helped to avoid ground invasion of Japan is completely false. The US has been using this argument for decades. What's the real reason? We might never know. Perhaps, they just wanted to use Japan as a live nuclear test site to see what happens.

One motive might habe been to show the strongman of Russia how strong America was. This idea might seem to be a bit speculative and shaky on the first glance, but appears more likely after looking at the calendar of the time. During the Potsdam Conference in Germany in summer 1945 President Truman asked Stalin to declare war on Japan and invade Chinese territory occupied by Japan three months after the German surrender, which had occured on 08 May 1945. Stalin agreed and on August 8 the Soviet Union declared war on Japan and Soviet forces invaded a certain part of China, which at the time was ocupied by Japan. In the meantime, some doubts may have emerged in Washington concerning the idea to persuade Moscow to invade. Two days before the Red Army was sent against Japan, the first atomic bomb had been dropped, and two days later - exactly on August 08 - the second one. Due to the official narrative these events are not somehow linked, - of course they are not, how could they ?

The real reason is the Soviet invasion of Manuchuria and later Korea.
These two Japanese colonies provided vital raw materials and food.
By the time Japan agreed to surrender in August 1945 they were on the verge of mass starvation that would have made any attempt to contest a US invasion futile.

I find the comparison between the use of strategic nuclear weapons against the Empire of Japan at the end of World War II and the hypothetical use of tactical nukes by the Russian Federation a bit far fetched. The actual war scenario points to an outcome in favour of Russia being achieved by conventional warfare exclusively.
If tactical nukes are used at all, they will rather be launchd by the side which concludes that it cannot win the war with conventional means. That's Ukraine, not Russia.
But even such a scenario is unlikely to occur since the western military masters of Ukraine are fully aware that if this box of Pandora once being opened the conflict will spiral down fastly and in an uncontrollable manner toward a full scale nuclear conflict, since every side - the U.S.A. and Russia - will immediatly feel the need to hurry up in order to avoid the destruction of its own nuclear arsenal before it can be employed.
Furthermore, a first use of tactical nuclear weapons by Russia could trigger exactly what Russia wants to avoid, i.e. a direct conflict between NATO and the Russian Federation. In order to avoid such an outcome, Moscow would rather swallow the bitter pill of huge losses on the battlefield.
However, if said comparison is meant as kind of a wake up call to make people understand the dangerous nature of this conflict it is usefull and adequate.

Russia wants to avoid losing more soldiers if the West keeps sending an endless stream of weapons to Ukraine. So at some point Russia will eliminate the Ukraine destinations to send weapons to. ( these would be military, industrial, and command destinations ) Russian generals have already talked about doing this with conventional weapons.

  • @cdeford2

The US also wanted to test nuclear weapons on Japan to see the effects. Their use wasn't really to prevent US casualties from an invasion of Japan, because there didn't have to be one. There could have been a negotiated peace but the US wouldn't accept such a peace.
