The weird part about "Main Character Syndrome" is that it convinces people to do the exact opposite of what a main character would do in similar situations. Look at any fictional work. Book, movie, TV show, video game, the "main character" 99% of the time isn't looking for attention or trying to get attention, in fact most of the time the character is trying to actively avoid attention and it just happens to follow him/her everywhere. People speak on the assumption that these restaurant employees are underpaid, and occasionally, mistreated at work (which does happen sometimes), but then they proceed to go out and mistreat them or complain to the manager about these minor mistakes.
Of course, these 'influencers' actually care nothing about the employees. I'd also suggest that most of the people who cry about, 'Fair wages,' also do not care about the employees and want to score ideological purity points online. If they cared about the employees, then they would realize that it is in their immediate power to smile, be polite and try to make that person's day at work better.

They're all pretty useless positions, which is the problems with all big companies, they have too many paid leaders to do basically nothing. Leadership is important but with the state of the professional environment, we might as well cut loose most bosses and managers, and things would pretty much continue the same. That why it makes me mad when people get hired for leadership positions without leadership. Happens everywhere. Now that's a pandemic right there.

What I mean is, if you were the manager for something like a corporate chain restaurant, then the company would absolutely demand compliance with current social justice standards.
At an independent restaurant, hell yeah, you stand up for your employees because good ones are hard to find. Also, even if you're the boss, loyalty is always a two-way street.
Still, going against the social justice narrative, whatever it might be, ain't gonna fly with big corporations.

You can make it in big corporations, you just gotta be smart about it. Leadership isn't a simple trait, it's a skill that you develop, but by action, not inaction. I will not go into the specifics, but I will just say this, it can be done. And people can't complain about staying in a middle or low management position at an establishment if they care that much about it. Everyone wants better job, and everyone thinks they deserve more. But the reality, most have already accepted an NPC life. And not in a good way. In a resentful, angry, and burdenous way. I personally got a good use out of my positions in the low end. i would just feel really bad for all of the people that would have to work on the show - the producers, the crew, the casting people, all the regular people just trying to get by and get a paycheck who’d have to put up with all of those main characters. especially the people working at or innocently attending the bars, restaurants, stores, etc. that you’d have to follow the contestants to,
bc they didn’t sign up for that shit and the staff certainly aren’t getting paid enough to deal with it! it’s certainly an interesting concept though lol. the grand prize for the “winner” of the show should be a year-long stay at a psychiatric facility that specializes in treating a wide range of mental illnesses, as each contestant would likely meet the diagnostic criteria for at least 2 or 3 disorders.

When people have main character syndrome, what they don't realise is that main characters in novels, movies and games are constantly being influenced by their environment, and the best main characters actually develop meaningful relationships with everyone in a flawed but interesting way, often gaining some new form of enlightenment or lesson from their experience with others. Main characters in video games specifically, also have to "earn" things and aren't necessary immediately entitled to anything (leveling, gearing, unlocking things with quests etc.). People with main character syndrome ironically act more like a minor antagonist who the viewer/reader/player can't help but fantasizing about their downfall.

It’s reminding me of when I was 12 years old and standing in the mirror thinking I was the most important and prettiest everrrr because I put lipstick on and a boy talked to me that day. Hahaha. I’m all about confidence- to this day even- but when you walk around other people who have different minds, lives and ideas than you but project them to the narcissistic space taking person you are- it’s just annoying. And two things can be right at the same time: 1) you’re beautiful/ handsome or talented or brave AND 2) you are subjecting yourself to people who aren’t trying to even be in your space and don’t owe you SHIT. Also someone looking at you while you flaunt yourself with a camera in front or behind you DOESNT necessarily mean you’re great. With wisdom and grace I’ve learned that the most respected and beautiful are those who don’t need attention to feel valid. Just saying ☺️

as a trans person myself who passes most times, (ftm), some people just.. cant. let it be their voice, their body, lack of resources, etc, its hard for some people to. also, a trans person doesnt have to adhere to gender norms/pass. trans guys can be feminine, have long hair, and still be guys because its how *they* feel and its their right to still be respected. trans girls can be masculine, have short hair, and still be girls because of the same reason. as well as people on the nonbinary spectrum. masc, fem, neutral, whatever. they dont *need* to pass. personally, i will admit, i do get sort of irked when someone has SO MUCH POTENTIAL TO PASS, but they choose not to. but, its not my buisness, or my life, but theirs. so i will still respect them no matter how they present, even if i mess ul a few times (noones perfect, i try my best though because ik how it feels to be misgendered.).
on the misgendering thing, its different for everyone. in my experience, it sucks, cause i try so hard to pass. but, it doesnt like, kill me on the inside, because its not a whole thing. in places where im not out, and im called she, it doesnt botherme that much. its when im out as a guy, and im called she, is when jt makes me uncomfortable. if it were like, alot of people doing it when i am presenting as a guy, like at school, then itd be really hard for me to deal with (i pass for the most part though, so im good for right now). for some people, they might not care even the slightest bit, or they could really REALLY care. and that is absolutely fine!
TLDR; trans people dont need to pass to be still be the gender they are, and misgendering feels different for everyone 🤗

For real this is a dilemma I have. I keep hearing men have no right to tell women how to dress. But idk I think it's not that simple. I do think both men and women have to listen to the other sex and act in a way that promotes social cohesion. Like you, I do not go to the gym to be aroused. Please keep your ass out of my face. Yes, as men we have control over our behaviors and I do practice that, but I feel it goes both ways. At a certain point we need to be grounded enough to understand that squatting in front of a guy wearing skin tight booty shorts is likely to provoke a reaction. That is not misoginy, it's just the truth. It's like people who listen to their music loudly in public, on the bus or whatnot. It's rude because others around you did not sign up to listen to your music. As a man, when I'm walking on the street at night, I will make a point to walk on the other side of the street if I see a woman walking my way. Do I have to do that? No, I have a right to be on that sidewalk. But I do it because I know that in that moment I am seen as a possible threat. I do it to make them feel safer. So like I said, these things go both ways.

I mean there’s a young woman at my gym and the shorts are so short that a slight bend over and I see her actual ass. And yes I completely agree because even though I would want something like this at private at home, right now it’s inappropriate to me. I have great self control, but that literally doesn’t mean test the waters with men either. If the intent is to get a man’s attention for a good purpose…just say hello. And also, not just nighttime. I will take myself and my little dog on the opposite side of the street. Even in the bright mornings and sometimes it is sad because my frenchie wants nothing but to say hello

I don't agree about the "this generation" part though. Working in retail all my life (I'm in my fifties) the insane amount of older people who are extremely rude, entitled, and want special treatment is truly horrible. They want the sale price from last week, and throw a huge fit because I should make an exception for them because they "shop here all the time", not realizing that everyone shops here all the time, and you don't see them asking for special treatment. But that doesn't cross their mind. They interrupt a lot. I'll be conversing with a customer while cashing them out, and someone will walk up and just start telling me things, I was taught to say "excuse me" first if I'm interrupting a conversation. But again, it doesn't cross their mind that two other people were in the middle of something. The younger folks don't tend to behave like this. They are mostly kind and respectful. They don't threaten to have me fired, don't make fun of my hearing impairment, it's like night and day. I mean, clearly there are narcissistic young folks as well, as evidenced in these clips. It's disgusting no matter which generation you're in.

This is why they created their false image of 'perfect me', and act as if they are the 'perfect me'. Their 'perfect me' is physically intimidating, 'scarily rich', and very very very powerful. These "people" do everything to protect their 'perfect me'. They are ready to scare other people out to convince themselves that they are physically intimidating. They are ready to live in debt they can't handle to look 'scarily rich'. They are ready to defraud someone to convince themselves that they are powerful and "smart" enough to steal money from other people with no consequences. Just because you view yourself as a "main character," it doesn't give you priority over everyone else in the world and it is no excuse for being rude to people. People with such toxic traits are far too common here in the United States and I am sure they exist in numbers in other parts of the world. It's like being kind to other people is under rated these days. That sounds ridiculous to say, though being on the internet everyday and seeing the kinds of things people post is really proving my point.
